Below is yet another 2012 Fantasy Football Expert League Draft. This is not a mock draft, this is the real league draft, so all 12 of the sites/writers involved will battle it out on a weekly basis fighting for the 2012 Expert Fantasy Football Championship title.
This is a relatively standard PPR scoring format, with line-up requirements that consist of 1QB, 2RBs, 3WRs, 1Flex, 1TE, 1K and 1DST.
Enjoy, and be sure to comment below! Thanks to FantasyDraftEdge for the invite to this league!
Round One
1.01 - Kellogg’s Komments – Foster, Arian HOU RB
1.02 - FantasyKnuckleHeads.Com – Brady, Tom NEP QB
1.03 - RotoProfessor.Com – Rice, Ray BAL RB
1.04 - HattyWaiverWireGuru.com – McCoy, LeSean PHI RB
1.05 - expertfantasyfootball.com – Rodgers, Aaron GBP QB
1.06 - FantasyDraftEdge.com – Johnson, Calvin DET WR
1.07 - FantasyFootballstars.net – Johnson, Chris TEN RB
1.08 – www.DraftCalc.com – McFadden, Darren OAK RB
1.09 - FantasyFootballEdge.net – Mathews, Ryan SDC RB
1.10 - Fantasytaz.com. – Graham, Jimmy NOS TE
1.11 - Footballguys.com – Forte, Matt CHI RB
1.12 - Junk Yard Jake – Richardson, Trent CLE RB
Smitty’s Take: No real surprises in the first-round of this draft, other than Jimmy Graham going a tad early at the 1.10 spot. Can Graham earn that kind of draft slot? Sure, but he has to go nuts to earn that value back, and I’d much rather try and land the next up-and-coming tight end at low-value vs. spending a first-round on Graham. Going TE in the top 12 just makes it that much harder to field a well-balanced group of rushers, wide receivers and QB. With injuries to both Trent Richardson (knee surgery) and Ryan Mathews (broken clavicle), injuries that occurred after these selections, these players now look a touch high from this point moving forward… safer bets to me would now be Cam Newton, Drew Brees, Julio Jones and even A.J. Green (shockingly-high to some, I know).
Round Two
2.01 - Junk Yard Jake – Newton, Cam CAR QB
2.02 - Footballguys.com – Jones-Drew, Maurice JAC RB
2.03 - Fantasytaz.com. – Gronkowski, Rob NEP TE
2.04 - FantasyFootballEdge.net – Murray, DeMarco DAL RB
2.05 – www.DraftCalc.com – Brees, Drew NOS QB
2.06 - FantasyFootballstars.net – Sproles, Darren NOS RB
2.07 - FantasyDraftEdge.com – Charles, Jamaal KCC RB
2.08 - expertfantasyfootball.com – Peterson, Adrian MIN RB
2.09 - HattyWaiverWireGuru.com – Jackson, Steven STL RB
2.10 - RotoProfessor.Com – Lynch, Marshawn SEA RB
2.11 - FantasyKnuckleHeads.Com – Johnson, Andre HOU WR
2.12 - Kellogg’s Komments – Fitzgerald, Larry ARI WR
Smitty’s Take: I love the Cam Newton pick at 2.01, and I think Newt will earn every bit of that investment. I think Rob Gronkowski is a touch high for my taste, but it’s hard to argue against anyone believing they can build around the selection if the right sleepers are snagged. Both Darren Sproles and Jamaal Charles seem about a round high if you ask me, and I’d advise all DraftCalc.com users to pass on either player this upcoming season if that’s the kind of price that you have to pay to land either. I am not confident in Steven Jackson even earning third-round value this year, so clearly I don’t like him slotted here in the 2nd, but I do love the Andre Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald steals at 2.11 and 2.12; both players were 2.01-2.07 worthy. As for our Drew Brees pick at 2.05, we couldn’t have been more pleased. Anytime you can land a potential top 3 overall scorer in the 2nd-round, you’re looking at a championship recipe in the making!
Round Three
3.01 – Kellogg’s Komments – Welker, Wes NEP WR
3.02 - FantasyKnuckleHeads.Com – Marshall, Brandon CHI WR
3.03 - RotoProfessor.Com – White, Roddy ATL WR
3.04 - HattyWaiverWireGuru.com – Bradshaw, Ahmad NYG RB
3.05 - expertfantasyfootball.com – Turner, Michael ATL RB
3.06 - FantasyDraftEdge.com – Stafford, Matthew DET QB
3.07 - FantasyFootballstars.net – Cruz, Victor NYG WR
3.08 – www.DraftCalc.com – Green, A.J. CIN WR
3.09 - FantasyFootballEdge.net – Nelson, Jordy GBP WR
3.10 - Fantasytaz.com. – Jackson, Fred BUF RB
3.11 - Footballguys.com – Jones, Julio ATL WR
3.12 - Junk Yard Jake – Martin, Doug TBB RB
Smitty’s Take: Wes Welker has a strong chance to extremely outperform his 3.01 value in this draft… and of course I can’t believe that both A.J. Green and Julio Jones made it to the third-round in this draft… I snagged A.J. Green with the 3.08 draft slot, and I am boldly predicting No. 1 fantasy WR numbers out of Green this year! As for Julio Jones, I see him playing like a top 2-3 fantasy WR this year, and I’ve said this all off-season long (documented on our Upside Board). Julio is no longer going to fly in under the radar (like he did in this draft at 3.11) after his 100-yard/1TD outing during the Falcons’ preseason opener on Thursday. Even if both of these guys, Green and Jones, see an ADP increase in the 4-10 selection range, I think both can still extremely outperform that kind of draft slot! Get ready for the Julio Jones and A.J. Green shows this year, they are going to be nuts!
Round Four
4.01 - Junk Yard Jake – Maclin, Jeremy PHI WR
4.02 - Footballguys.com – Jennings, Greg GBP WR
4.03 - Fantasytaz.com. – Nicks, Hakeem NYG WR
4.04 - FantasyFootballEdge.net – Hernandez, Aaron NEP TE
4.05 – www.DraftCalc.com – Bryant, Dez DAL WR
4.06 - FantasyFootballstars.net – Smith, Steve CAR WR
4.07 - FantasyDraftEdge.com – Bush, Reggie MIA RB
4.08 - expertfantasyfootball.com – Vick, Michael PHI QB
4.09 - HattyWaiverWireGuru.com – Colston, Marques NOS WR
4.10 - RotoProfessor.Com – Manning, Eli NYG QB
4.11 - FantasyKnuckleHeads.Com – Greene, Shonn NYJ RB
4.12 - Kellogg’s Komments – Gore, Frank SFO RB
Smitty’s Take: I love our Dez Bryant selection at 4.05, and I see him finishing as the No. 4 fantasy WR this year, behind only A.J. Green, Calvin Johnson and Julio Jones. Shonn Greene was a big reach at 4.11, but anything can happen, and that’s why we play the game. Still, I find it hard to believe that Greene can even earn 5th- or 6th-round value in 2012, and I feel the same way about Frank Gore at 4.12. Isaiah Pead and LaMichael James are the crafty players to own this year, and in dynasty formats… Jeremy Maclin was a round or two too high for my liking, as receivers like Bryant, Mike Wallace and even Stevie Johnson were higher on my draft board at that point in the draft.
Round Five
5.01 - Kellogg’s Komments – Brown, Donald IND RB
5.02 - FantasyKnuckleHeads.Com – Wells, Beanie ARI RB
5.03 - RotoProfessor.Com – Wallace, Mike PIT WR
5.04 - HattyWaiverWireGuru.com – Harvin, Percy MIN WR
5.05 - expertfantasyfootball.com – Thomas, Demaryius DEN WR
5.06 - FantasyDraftEdge.com – Johnson, Steve BUF WR
5.07 - FantasyFootballstars.net – Gates, Antonio SDC TE
5.08 – www.DraftCalc.com – Spiller, C.J. BUF RB
5.09 - FantasyFootballEdge.net – Austin, Miles DAL WR
5.10 - Fantasytaz.com. – Lloyd, Brandon NEP WR
5.11 - Footballguys.com – Jackson, Vincent TBB WR
5.12 - Junk Yard Jake – Helu, Roy WAS RB
Smitty’s Take: Get ready for the C.J. Spiller show! The runner feels like a steal in the 5th-round this year, as he has top 5-10 overall upside if/once starting. Will he ever start? That’s tough to say, and there is a chance he never sees full-time carries this season… still, even if that is the case, he can certainly earn you that 5th-round value back… if he does get starter carries, you’re looking at owning one of the biggest steals of all of 2012. As said above, I have big-time expectations for Stevie Johnson this year, and I think Brandon Lloyd can strongly outshine his 5.10 draft slot this season.
The Rest…

how could I find a recent expert mock draft without PPR..
Not many around, none that i play in. PPR really is the standard in the expert formats. Honestly, though, the differences aren’t as great as some suggest, IMO. Sure, the Sproles types go up a handful of spots, the Turners go down… Welker gets a bit of a bump over some receivers he might be a touch below in non-PPR formats, but honestly, the lack of variation overall is why we only produce the PPR format.
We may look to produce something for the non-PPR user, and ill look into that shortly. Thanks, Joeman. Glad to have you on the site, buddy. Keep heading back here – often!
I’m doing an MFL10 now and I’m in the 12 hole. I thought I’d hate it but it seems like people have been dropping to me. So far my team’s:
1/2 Run DMC, Forte
3/4 Jennings/Dez
5/6 Spiller/ Lloyd (passed on Ryan/ A. Brown, very tough to do)
Since only the champ gets any money I’m swinging for the fences, I almost took Kenny (hoping he drops to 7/8. shhh).
I’m happy starting that lineup, and am hoping I can get a TE (Gates/ Hernandez/ Davis/ Gronk/ Jimmy were all gone by the end of 5) and either meachem or Garcon at 7/8 and then 2 QBs at the 9/10 turn.
I think Ridley and Moore were a little early for you Smitty, but I have both of them on various keeper teams so hopefully your hot streak continues.
Good luck amigo
That’s quite a team! Those rushers are sick for having those WRs and still having Spiller/Lloyd. Kenny is a great player to toss in the mix. Nice work.
