Chris Polk RB Washington

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports the Packers have
"genuine interest" in Washington RB Chris Polk.

The Polk camp believes its client has a chance to be
drafted in the first round, but Trent Richardson is the only back
guaranteed of going on day one. Polk could be a reasonable option for
the Packers at No. 59. Polk is Rotoworld draft guru Josh Norris'
third-ranked back behind Richardson and Doug Martin.

It will be a dream place to land, Polk a rare 3 down back and great late 1st round option in Rookie drafts.

  • Regardless of where he lands, Polk is not a 1st or 2nd rd talent.  3rd round talent at best and that's a reach, IMO.

Not sure I see the Packers using a high pick on a RB, They're a passing team and Need alot of help on defense.
    My 2013 Predictions[Non-PPR]:
    [ ] C.J. Spiller Will Be Top 2 RB(Jan 9th)
[ ] Demaryius Thomas will be the #1 scoring WR in 2013(Feb 13th)
[ ] Trent Richardson will NOT finish as a Top 10 RB in 2013!(June 4th)

I agree... Starks, Saine, Kuhn and Green should be plenty for the Pack.  That's not to say they won't take a flier on a RB later.
  • I'll be curious to see where Polk lands and what rd he's drafted in for sure, but I like what I see from him. I'd say he goes late 2nd rd.  He may not be blazing fast but his speed is his speed all of the time.  If something slows him down, he gets back up to that speed very quickly.  Runs through arms tackles pretty easily and has good balance.  He did drop weight for some reason after the Senior Bowl (13 lbs between the Senior Bowl and his pro-day), more than likely just to run a faster timed 40, but it makes you wonder what is going on.

Right now I'm still pretty comfortable with him being in my #10 overall rookie pick.
  • IMO, Polk is just another RB with a bruising style who did very well in college because he could bully his way through.  With that said, these type of guys' skills don't translate well to the NFL.  The NFL is full of BEASTS on DEFENSE, he won't be able to bully his way in the NFL like he did in college.  You need some elusive skills to make it in the NFL... Polk lacks elusiveness.

    Starks, Saine, Kuhn and Green....???
With all my respect junkie they are not the answer ...
Chris Polk will be nice cancellation prize in 1.10-1.12 range, GB would be nice but I take NYG landing spot too.

They won the Super Bowl with Starks and B.Jackson... Starks, Saine, Kuhn and Green may not be the answer but Polk is not an upgrade over any of current GB RB's.

Kuhn not a RB, Saine injured, Green badly injured ,your love to Starks is amazing ! Starks has the opportunity and was mediocre at BEST last year .

    Another note on C.Polk

NFL Films guru calls Washington RB Chris Polk
    "methodical" and an "inside grinder."

Cosell believes Polk is a "volume runner" without much
"wiggle," but praises his receiving abilities. Volume runners need heavy
workloads to be effective, but Polk's prowess as a receiver could have
teams viewing him as an every-down back. He's expected to be among the
first three or four running backs drafted.

GB still ain't drafting a RB early with those glaring holes on defense

Yeah, and do they really need one?  It's not like they are going to run the ball anyway.
  • Polk just went undrafted.

Hey junkies, Arian Foster went undrafted. As was Tony Romo, Wes Welker and  Some guy named Antonio Gates. Save your italics and over the top guru-like knowledge.

Different site, same old posts, eh Junks, :-))

    EDIT: opps Kurt Warner too...

  • Sure some talents fall through the cracks for one reason or another, but Polk did not fall through the cracks... He has shoulder problems and is an average RB to begin with.

and is an average RB to begin with.

This would be said of any undrafted FA before they break out. Thats prob why they go undrafted to begin with.

the only problem with your logic is that nobody expected Romo, Warner, Gates and Welker to be drafted in the 1st place.  There was very little tape on these guys, which is very different from Polk.
