Lets make all things equal (hypothetical). If Sammy Watkins is as good as most people believe he is going to be, who would you rather have and please explain your reasoning.
    .5 ppr 10 Team Dynasty: 1 Qb, 2 Rb, 3 Wr, 1 Rb/Wr, 1 Te

Dez Bryant, Josh Gordon, Randall Cobb, Alshon Jeffery, Jarrett Boykin

    Kyle Rudolph, Martellus Bennett

It's pretty difficult to compare these two by saying all things are equal when they are most definitely not, lo.  Allen has proven his talent in the NFL and against NFL defenses whereas Watkins has not.  Allen, by virtue of having proven himself in the NFL SHOULD hold more value than Watkins.  The shinny new toy syndrome is the only thing closing that gap IMO.

Watkins can do everything Allen can do except he does it faster.

If that were always valid, you would never trade a player for picks. Nobody saw Andrew Luck in an NFL game before 2012...right now I'd take Luck as an NFL QB over anyone not named Rodgers. And that is debatable IMO.

And the thread was started with "making all things equal". Do you guys think Watkins wouldn't have done at least as well as Allen in SD last yr?

Right now today the only way we will know is if SD trades up and drafts Watkins. Then we can let them duke it out in 2014:)

All I have is my gut, and right now owning 1.1 in a few leagues I am not trading it for Allen. That's all I know right now.

Id take Watkins.  Ive seen enough of both players to think Watkins is better.

I saw one article claim that Watkins is not physical enough to beat press coverage in the NFL and they week take away his speed. But saying I believe it but would like to hear thoughts on this.

I agree. I am sold on Watkins being at least better than dez. Possibly up there with Julio and ajg
    Bold Predictions:
Cordarelle Patterson replaces Josh Gordon in the top 5 WR group.
(Julio, Calvin, AJG, CP, and Dez)

Andre Williams proves himself to be the best RB in this class, by having the most productive rookie season of all the rbs.

Allen. I like both but Allen is already top 6-10 to me.

I like both. I've seen enough mocks that show Watkins going to Oakland. If that happens, his value becomes a little harder to predict for me.

That said, I have Allen already and the 1.1 in this years draft, so I'm hoping to own both of them.

I've been vocally lower than most of Allen, but I think I'd still take Allen here. I love what Watkins brings to the table, but I don't view him as a can't miss prospect like Julio/AJG. Plus we don't what situation he's going into yet. I'd be ok taking Allen now, and waiting it out for part of 2014 and see how things shake out. If I want Watkins over Allen at that point, then I'd make a move.
    2013 predictions

    -Cobb outscores Harvin in PPR
-Chris Ivory will be a top 15RB
-Kenny Britt finishes outside the top 20WRs

Watkins carries a lot more risk for a possible upgrade on Allen, but how much?  Let's say Allen is top 6-10 and if everything works out for Watkins he is top 5, is it really worth the risk?  Watkins needs to prove himself, plus his situation is a huge factor in his NFL success.  If he goes to Oakland do you still like him over Allen?  No way, I give up the smallish upside for quite a bit less risk.

6-10? That's where there is a clear difference. I don't see Allen as a consistent top 10 WR.

I love how everyone worries about situation...

AJG went to a horrible situation, he looks fine
    Josh Gordon anyone?

Talent trumps situation 99% of the time imo
    My 2013 Predictions:
    [:(] C.J. Spiller Will Be The #1RB(Jan 9th)
[XXX] Demaryius Thomas will be the #1 scoring WR!(Feb 13th)
[XXX] Trent Richardson will NOT finish as a Top 10 RB!(June 4th)
    [:(] Rob Housler will be a Top 5 TE in 2013!(July 18th)
[XXX] Josh Gordon will put up a 80/1200/10 stat line in just 14 Games!(Sept 5th)
