Great read, thank you Smitty. The work is always superb and with a sharp edge.

most peoples lives are a direct reflection of the expectations of those around you

what if you have a higher expectation for yourself than those you associate with?

If his biggest issue is blocking, then I don't see how he'll ever get on the field. Unless you're drafted in the first few rounds, you *need* to block. as for BJGE not being that good of a RB, well, that might be true to an extent, but I think real coaches value ball protection a lot more than we do. No fumbles in his career of over 500 carries cannot be underestimated. A coach would rather have 3.8yds a carry with no fumbles than a playmaker who causes anxiety and a nervous stomach.

+1.  I think some fantasy analysts (not talking about this site or present company) get carried away with upside and forget about what it takes to win football games.  At the RB position...no fumbles, good blocker, positive yardage, falling forward, etc.  I've always been impressed with BJGE and think he will be doing most of the heavy lifting in Cincy for the next couple years.

That said, 4-6 round pick for Herron?  If you can afford the roster space, why not.  Good write-up.  Guy wasn't even on my radar.

p.s. Thanks for the Pead update!  Seemed he had found his way out of the hype machine, and this was bugging me.  Pead is a very fun player to watch, and I'm hoping he gets some opportunities this year.

The negatives are what makes Herron a sleeper and not a lock...

    Yep, Pead looks promising.

lol rotoworld says the opposite on his blocking...

    Dan Herron
     - RB - Bengals

Bengals signed sixth-round RB Dan Herron to a four-year contract.Though an ordinary ball-carrying talent, Herron learned pro-style concepts at Ohio State and is considered strong in pass protection. The latter skill earns roster spots in the NFL, and Herron will also be counted on to contribute as a special teamer. He should have an edge on Cedric Peerman for the Bengals' third-string tailback role behind BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Bernard Scott.

Yeah, and they are always accurate........ :^o I have seen him play, and don't really see an issue with the pass protection.  I don't think that he is horrible with it, I think that he could just improve on it.  He definitely has all of the tools.  He just needs the opportunity.  I think he will definitely get an opportunity in Cincy.

As for BGE, I have always been a fan.  I see Herron eventually passing Scott on the depth chart, which would make him one injury away from getting a shot.  His sleeper status comes from his situation as opposed to a Lamar Miller or LaMichael James who are buried on a depth chart.

I Don't see anything special in the guy either and I feel BJGE and Scott both are better and will compliment each other well in Grudens offense. Barring an injury I don't see him getting many carries.
