With the Week 5 Sunday games in the rear view mirror, it’s time to start looking at Week 6 of the 2013 fantasy football season. Below are some medium-to-big name players that need to be discussed heading into Weeks 6-16. Let’s get to it!
It Is What It Is
- Danny Woodhead – RB SD
-
[level-all]
Danny Woodhead – RB SD
Danny Woodhead had solid flex-like value heading into Week 5, and really heading all the way into the first-half of Week 5′s contest… then, Ryan Mathews suffered a concussion. Everything has now changed. How so? Prior to Mathews’ concussion, Woodhead was playing his usual situational role, which I might add was playing the role of a poor man’s Darren Sproles, so he already had good value up until the Mathews’ concussion. But, just as soon as he took over as the team’s starter (after Mathews’ injury), and after his fumble, Woodhead started looking like a sneay-good PPR-based RB2. I’m not kidding. If you didn’t watch the last two quarter’s of Sunday night’s late game, Woodhead went from 3-4 fantasy points to all of the sudden pulling in 9 catches for 58 yards and 1TD (9 carries for 13 yards). He didn’t do a ton of running in the contest, as you can see by his 13 yards rushing, but the Chargers were in pass-only mode in that second-half, so the key takeaway here is that Woodhead is almost match-up proof (in a non-stud sort of way). We haven’t even seen him run a much yet (as a starter), and while I don’t see him as a consistent 100-yard rusher or anything, my guess is that he will get at least 40-50% of the rushes moving forward. I could be wrong on that, keep in mind a lot of speculation is needed when we Monday morning quarterback this stuff, but even if he just gets 10-14 rushes per game moving forward, mix that with his 5-7 receptions for 50-80 receiving yards and strong shot at a weekly score, well, you have yourself a low-end RB2 at the cost of a RB3/4. He isn’t the most conventional low-end RB2, he is better served as an awesome flex-option, know that, but he is crafty player that can sneak you out some RB2-type production if need be. I have Woodhead in a league where I’m hurting at WR… a bold move is needed to march on, so my plan is to trade away my RB2 (Gore) for an underrated AJ Green, then plug Woodhead into my RB2 slot along side of Doug Martin (and I have Shane Vereen waiting to take his RB2 job back once the time comes). Is trading away Gore as my strong RB2 a move I’m dying to make? No, but sometimes you have to sell-high on certain players and go risky with certain starting slots in order to keep on keeping’ on! React and adapt!
[/level-all]
- Denarius Moore – WR OAK
-
[level-all]
Denarius Moore – WR OAK
As long as Terrelle Pryor is healthy, and under center, Denarius Moore is a lock as a fantasy WR3. The receiver had 84 yards and a score in Sunday night’s Week 5 win over the Chargers. He had 4 receptions for 66 yards the week prior, and 6 receptions for 124 yards and a score the week before that. With 3TDs so far this year, he is by far and away the No. 1 wide receiver in Oakland right now. I doubt he is available in any leagues, but check your waiver wire just in case. If you own Moore, but just don’t have room to start him, start looking at some 2-for-1 trades that upgrades a starting spot and makes way for your new WR3.
[/level-all]
- Trent Richardson – RB IND
-
[level-all]
Trent Richardson – RB IND
While most are jumping ship after Week 5, something I predicted last week, as the runner was heading down a disappointing road facing off against SEA, I can only urge current fantasy owners to keep in mind that it’s a long season. Can’t wait for him to get going? That’s understandable, one can always make a smart trade, even if the player your trading ends up having a good run after you send him packing… there is nothing wrong with trading. What I urge against is selling way too low, and not looking at the big picture. Again, if you’re in a redraft league, and your record is 2-3, or 1-4, sure, sell Richardson if you can and buy another runner, like Gio Bernard (maybe even getting more), that can easily crank out strong RB2-type numbers, or better, moving forward. Or, trade T-Rich and someone for an underrated AJ Green… these are all strong and understandable moves… these are crafty moves, and they leave you feeling just fine about the trade(s) should Richardson play well moving forward, as you’re buying quality… However, are you in dynasty league and looking to sell-low? I’d advise against this. Why? Only five weeks have been played, and the runner is learning a new offense. Yes, his YPC are awful, I’ve heard it over and over, and I hear he runs with hesitation.. I’ve heard it all. However, if you watch the games and don’t just look at the game logs, it’s not like he is missing open rushing lanes, or that he is running awful. Folks, just turn on Fox Sports as they recap the Colts-Seahawks game, there is one single play that should tell you everything you need to know about Richardson moving forward… it was 3rd-down and five, with 4:30 left… who do the Colts turn to? Trent Richardson, and he if you watch that run (view here, skip to 2:23 into the clip), you won’t question his ability to get 4-5 yards-per-carry. You won’t. If you do, you’re just set against the guy. He is a stud runner still, I don’t care what anyone says about my evaluation, I see it. Only coaching can screw this one up, and I don’t anticipate that here, as the organization gave up a lot to get him, and the coaching staff counted on Richardson on that play mentioned above (when it counted most)… and Richardson delivered in bruising fashion. Watch the run at 2:23! Also, as far as his YPC since being a Colt, he is still in and out of the line-up during certain situations (as he learns), and often times this leaves a run play as a predictable play call, thus defenses shut you down. I’m not suggesting his YPC shouldn’t be higher, nor am I saying he hasn’t disappointed in a MAJOR way through five weeks. He has… T-Rich investors shouldn’t have to wait for him to rebound, he was a first-round grab in August drafts… well, that part is in the past, all we can do is look at his value moving forward… the guy has 2TDs in three games with his new team, and he is getting the carries. Will I, at some point, stop defending Richardson should he continue to crank out less than medicare rushing stats? Sure, and let’s say the coaching staff soon gives him just half the carries moving forward… then, of course, I will change my stance, admit my miscalculation, then I will adapt. I’m not there yet, and I don’t think it will get to that. He had 20 carries in Week 4 and had 18 carries this week… he is a hard runner that knows how to score touchdowns, and I have watched most all of his carries as a Colt… he isn’t a mediocre runner… he is a stud. Argue it, I have no problem with that… I still firmly believe that Richardson will get stronger each and every week moving forward. I’ll reevaluate this weekly, sure, but I wrote in this same column last week that a mediocre Week 4 against SEA would not concern me. Richardson faces San Diego in Week 6, and I see him having a much bigger fantasy day.
[/level-all]
- David Wilson – RB NYG
-
[level-all]
David Wilson – RB NYG
Honestly, here is proof I don’t just stick to my guns (like some think I am with Trent Richardson)… I’m about to put a fork in David Wilson and call it a season. While no one should sell too low, there has to be a crafty way to trade this guy away without wanting to pull your hair out should he have a strong finish to the 2013 fantasy season. Example: trade Wilson out for another struggling player, but one you believe in a whole lot more, like Gio Bernard, Eddie Lacy or let’s say a combo like Gio/Givens. Again, could he rebound? Sure, but make a trade that has you not caring whether he does or not, as the player(s) you get will be players that you believe in 10x more.
[/level-all]
- Tony Romo – QB DAL
-
[level-all]
Tony Romo – QB DAL
Time to sell-high? Tony Romo just had a career game, throwing for 506 yards and 5TDs in his Week 5 loss to the Broncos. While I like Romo moving forward, I do, and I think he has top 5-7 fantasy QB upside, you have to wonder how much you can get for him right now if you trade him. Selling high is always advised, because you can still invest in players that you like near as much, but that are maybe struggling temporarily. Selling high allows you to buy an AJ Green on the cheap, or a Doug Martin!
[/level-all]
- TY Hilton – WR IND
-
[level-all]
TY Hilton – WR IND
TY Hilton pulled in 140 yards and 2TDs on Sunday, proof that Hilton is what we thought he was, an elite fantasy talent who is fine tuning his game. This was his second 100-yard game of the season. This kid is going to have a bright future. Stay with the guy, don’t sell… he is elite.
[/level-all]
Add/Drop Advice Heading Into Week 6
- Terrance Williams – WR DAL
-
[level-all]
Terrance Williams – WR DAL
Terrance Williams has been playing tough as of late, and with Miles Austin (hamstring) still banged up, Williams is a fine add this week and a very decent WR3/4 in larger leagues. If you didn’t know, T-Will pulled in 4 passes for 151 yards and 1TD in Sunday’s Week 5 loss to the Broncos.
[/level-all]
- Zach Stacy – RB STL
-
[level-all]
Zach Stacy – RB STL
Most likely gone in larger leagues, Zach Stacy is a must-own now that he is likely the Rams’ starting rusher moving forward. In Week 5, he got the start and totaled 78 yards on 14 carries. With some upcoming practices as his team’s starter, he could get a lot better. Again, while he isn’t likely available in most leagues, check your free agent player pool just in case! Note: Isaiah Pead might end up getting dropped this week in a ton of leagues. While he is still a big-time long-shot, consider scooping him up, if available, in larger leagues where you have extra defenses, kickers and scrub TEs.
[/level-all]
- Austin Pettis – WR STL
-
[level-all]
Austin Pettis – WR STL
Austin Pettis has been active in the touchdown department so far this season, grabbing 4 scores through five games thus far. In Week 5 alone, the receiver pulled in 4 passes for 49 yards and 2TDs. While he hasn’t racked up huge yardage totals in any one game, clearly he is a TD presence in that STL offense. While he looks like the 2nd or 3rd option right now, Chris Givens, Jared Cook and Tavon Austin will likely see targets before Pettis does down the stretch. Could that change? Sure, bad coaching can always mix things up, so know that. Still, while we wait for Givens to do what TY Hilton is finally doing, and while we wait on Cook to bounce-back, Pettis is a fine fantasy WR5/6 grab in larger leagues, so grab him off the waiver wire if you have a spot to burn.
[/level-all]
- Andre Ellington – RB AZ
-
[level-all]
Andre Ellington – RB AZ
I’m hesitant to suggest that Andre Ellington could ever be consistent in a place like AZ, an environment that ruins a running back’s potential, this kid has game. Why Arizona continues to stick with Rashard Mendenhall is beyond me, but that goes back to how AZ can ruin running back situations. So, let’s assume that Ellington isn’t used right, well, that could still have him racking-up 60-70 or so total yards and 3-4 receptions on a weekly basis. That isn’t gold, but it’s a strong RB5/6 in larger leagues, and of course he has upside for more if AZ decides to use him properly. Grab him if you have a spot to burn, no question.
[/level-all]
- Vincent Brown – WR SD
-
[level-all]
Vincent Brown – WR SD
While it’s hard to know what to expect from Vincent Brown from week to week, his 8 receptions for 117 yards makes him a must-add heading into Weeks 6-16, at least as a WR4/5.
[/level-all]
- Keenan Allen – WR SD
-
[level-all]
Keenan Allen – WR SD
Keenan Allen was a popular grab last week, but check your waiver wire and see if he is available. He pulled in 6 passes for 115 yards in Week 5. He is a strong WR4/5/6 moving forward.
[/level-all]
- Josh Freeman – QB MIN
-
[level-all]
Josh Freeman – QB MIN
The Vikings have agreed to terms with QB Josh Freeman. The deal is a one-year deal. It’s strange that the passer only signed a one-year deal, as more than a couple teams had interest, and surely one would have signed him to a longer deal in order to secure his immediate services. Minnesota is an interesting situation, but it’s a decent fit, and it helps keep defenses a bit more honest vs. Adrian Peterson moving forward. Freeman is no stud, but he is no bust either. While he could struggle a bit getting use to his new offense, look for him to play decent football in MIN moving forward. I’m not so sure he will be a strong fantasy QB2 in even medium-to-large size leagues, but in very large leagues, and especially 2QB leagues, take notice!
[/level-all]
What about Woodhead’s value in a non ppr format? How would you rate his value for the rest of the season versus say Lamar Miller
Well, he may not get more than 30-40 yards rushing some weeks. Who knows, though, he could get starter carries, but I think he is more of a 30-40 yard rusher with 4-5 receptions. So, to answer your question, he is a flex at best in a non-PPR, even with a slightly or significantly expanded role… unless he starts rushing for 70-80 yards per game on top of his receptions, but not sure he would hold up as a full time rusher. His real value is in PPR.
Regretting trading j Thomas for giviens
I had Thomas and cook ….
Live and learn font get greedy week two and wait on it before moving a young gun !!!!!! Arhhhh
Dynasty !!!!!!!
It’s a long season, but yes, Julius Thomas is playing great. Cook could rebound, no question. It’s amazing how Givens and Cook vanished this week, still, but Bradford did decent. I still see Givens and Cook as Bradford’s top targets.
I don’t understand why you’re still so high on Cook, you do understand that Cook was only on the field for almost half the amount of snaps that Kendricks was on the field for right? Cook played 39 snaps and Kendricks played 64. I’m about ready to drop him if he’s really only going to be on the field for only half the time. Maybe he happens to have one more big game but it’s quite obvious at this point that he certainly isn’t going to be consistent.
Well, I’m not alone, he is ranked as a TE1, even if low-end TE1, all over the place heading into this week. That said, you aren’t alone either. It’s not an exact science with players in his range, as it’s only week 5, and he proved amazing in Week 1… but, of course I can totally understand someone panicking. They invested a lot in Cook… flow of game, call it what you want, but STL invested a lot in Cook. Not sure they’d give up on him and make him a No. 2 TE after 5 weeks, and again 1 of those weeks being an insane showing. So, yeah, four weeks have gone by where we are all wanting to see flashes of what Julius Thomas is showing us. Would I bet my entire season on Cook bouncing back? No, but I am buying low, so that goes to show I still believe in his talent. Opportunity is half the battle, which has to do with coaching, which often doesn’t have much to do with reason… you aren’t wrong to be concerned.
Smitty, 2 trade scenarios;
Would you trade a Matt forte and james jones for trich and AJ Green at this point? (My rb2-3 are l miller, d Wilson)
What about forte for trich and gronk/Cameron?
Dynasty, I like Rich/AJG. Redraft, it’s close, but Forte/James Jones in redraft just in case TRich needs a couple more weeks to get going.
As for the second, much depends on who your TE is currently?
cook
Forte and Cook.
Hey Smitty my team just ran off 3 wins in a row and I’m getting a bunch of offers. I currently have charles and martin as my rbs and julius at te. I also have gronk waiting on the bench but who knows when he’s coming back. Someone in my league wants gronk or julius and said he’d be willing to give up a back. He said gore, moreno or sjax. I like gore and moreno a lot. You think it’s worth givin up one of my stud te’s? I can play a te at flex.
It depends on who you can plug into your line up once you lose Gronk… if it’s Gore, I trade Gronk for Gore, sure. Keep Thomas.
Hi Smitty,
Do you think getting Brandon Marshal by giving Trent Richardson and Julian Edelman would be a good trade in a PPR league?
Dynasty or redraft, it’s not a bad move, but depends on who you have filling their spots. Marshall takes Edelman’s, but who takes Richardson’s? With Amendola back, Edelman could return to average, so not too sure I worry about losing him, and while I love Trich, Marshall is a top 5WR, so it’s not a bad swap, and it’s a decent swap if your RBs are strong.
Hey Smitty,
im in a s12 man league NON PPR you can put a TE in flex.I have cruz ty gordon jordan cameron and julius thomas, chris givens(lamars gonna ride the bench until the dolphins figure out that they have a nice rb). should i no matter what start julius and cameron going forward regardless of matchups? and choose on between gordon and ty to go along with cruz . i see cameron and juluis at same talent level and ty and gordon at same talent level. and it becomes so hard to choose. for example i started cameron this week against bills and sat julius against cowboys. if i started both one has a bad game but one has a monster game to make up for the others bad performance . i just feel like thats gonna keep happening if i keep flopping them back and forth and i should start both no matter who team they face. what do you think . thanks smitty
All those guys are capable of outscoring the entire group of names listed… so it’s not going to be an easy call, and there is no way I’m gonna say start any single one of those guys every single week because they are all so good. Well, Cruz is a must start, but Gordon, Hilton, Cameron, Thomas, it’s near impossible to land that weekly. I’d almost say sell Hilton high, but ONLY high, and pair him with Cruz to get an AJ Green? I’d trade, but I trade a lot, and I love using depth for line-up.
Had doug martin owner approach me about a trade…1/2 PPR Dynasty.
He wants BMarsh and Stephen Hill 4 Doug Martin and Alshon Jeffrey.
Brandon Marshall is an amazing player and is a core player in my formation, but I am not sure I will ever be able to get Doug Martin for this price again.
I am still hesitant because of our starting lineup requirements (1QB 1RB 4WR, 1QB 2RB 2WR 1TE, or 1QB 3RB 1WR 1TE)
Right now I start: Russell, AP, BMarsh, Cruz, Dez, VJack/Amendola/SSmith/Cook.
After trade: Russell, AP, Martin, Dez, Cruz, Cook or Russell, AP, Dez, Cruz, VJack, Amendola/SSmith/Cruz.
What do you think?
I think I do go get Martin and Jeffery, especially if this a dynasty. I mean, Martin is a stud, I don’t agree with the doubt. He has had a solid game with a TD this year, and an additional 140 yard game. He had a bad Week 4, big deal, but he is bye free now and a stud. Jeffery is a future stud, too, and a fine WR3 right this very second (if not better). Do it IMO!!!
A little twist on the deal…he wants to add Sproles to my side of the deal and he will include James Jones.
So it’s now my BMarsh Sproles hill (I could counter with a lesser throw in than hill) 4 Martin Alshon James jones.
A higher price, but still looks decent to me since its 1/2 ppr. What do you think?
That is a big addition. Not sure the trade has that huge advantage this way, though.
Which is a better deal? To get TY HIlton for D Wilson or get Vincent Jackson for D Wilson?
That could go either way. Hilton is on the rise, probably to VJax type value, but VJax is already there. The safe play is the safer play. Not that I don’t think Hilton can get there, though.
Get Ty IMO
It’s not bad to get TY, so you aren’t wrong. Much depends on the risk you want to take, and are you building for the future more than the now, a combo of both? Would you rather have the VJax value now, or gamble that TY could be lower than that, or higher, come 1-2 years.
Smitty,
First question is whether or not I even pull the trigger on this deal?
1. Trent Richardson for Gordon and L Miller OR
2. Trent Richardson for Gordon and D Wilson.
If you do like the deal, should I deal Miller or Wilson?
Thanks.
There is no easy answer here, as Miller and TRich have huge upside given their current values, but still are risky. I think I pass on No. 2 given Wilson’s situation. However, Miller is intriguing, but will he get the carries. If he does, he is a monster. If not, you might be losing out on the deal, as I do feel TRich will be fine.
Smitty, I’m just TERRIFIED of any Rams player right now. They look like the second worst team in football right after the Jaguars. I really don’t understand what’s going on with them. Bradford seems to be regressing & I’ve got quite a bit invested in both Givens & Cook right now, & can’t get rid of them because their value is horrendous. I know you believe in them but how do you feel about the games they’ve been playing? : /
I think from a football standpoint, yeah, it’s not pretty, but Bradford keeps producing decent fantasy stats overall, so fantasy wise, I still feel opportunity is there. Is there risk? Sure.
Also, I’m not worried about AJ Green as a player, but Dalton has looked GOD AWFUL & they’ve changed up his play-calling completely because they don’t trust him to throw the ball right now, so I’m extremely concerned. I’m wondering why you think to buy-low on him when I find it hard to believe he’ll turn it around. Not only is his QB playing awful, but he still gets so much attention from opposing defenses it’s silly
Calvin Johnson dominated for years under the same conditions. He had no passer before Stafford, and saw double teams. With Gio still not commanding attention, things aren’t as good as they can be. Hopefully Gio can get more touches/carries and distract. He is a great buy low because you can buy him much lower than my lofty expectations
Hey Smitty,
I am just barely staying afloat in my most competitive league with a 2-2-1 record. I am second to last in points.
The league is a redraft league, and I just lost Julio. I have an opportunity, through trades, to totally rebuild my roster. I’ll post the before and after rosters, and please let me know which one you like.
I did post this in the forum, but only got 1 valid response.
This is a 12 team, redraft, non-ppr league. ALL TD’s are worth 6pts
Current Roster:
QB: Brady
WR: Julio
WR: Marshall
WR: Givens
RB: Moreno
RB: Gio B.
TE; Cook
Bench: WR’s: Sanders, Harvin — RB’s: Lamar, McGahee, Ball
OR
REBUILT ROSTER:
QB: Wilson
WR: Ant. Brown
WR: Garcon
WR: Givens
RB: DeMarco Murray
RB: Moreno
TE: Cook
Bench: WR’s Harvin, Sanders, Allen — RB’s: Lamar, Ball
Should I rebuild? Thank You!
How is team two rebuilding? Moreno is old (I guess he is on both teams, but seems to be relied on more in team 2), Murray is questionable each year to be a solid season-long contributor, Garcon is as injury prone as they come, Ant. Brown is playing good this year, but he is far from a rebuild WR. Julio for the future is still the better long-term option. Team 1 has much better future Marshall (still has time), Gio is the definition of rebuilding. I don’t see this as rebuilding at all. Hope that helps. Rebuilding would be trade Marshall for TRich and Hilton or something.
This is a REDRAFT league. I am rebuilding my team to compete this year.
I was asking your opinion of this move in a redraft league.
Thank You
My mistake, TamMan. Julio is a huge blow. I think the rebuild is ok, but you might get more for Marshall? The difference in team two still doesn’t seem all that big. It’s tough rebuilding, especially with a hurt Julio. Keep us posted. Good buy lows in redraft: AJ Green (for some reason he is getting doubted left and right), Lacy, Lynch.
Smitty –
I am in a 12-team redraft league and had the pleasure of drafting Spiller, Ridley, Miller, and Ball at RB. (I also have J Bell, but I hate him less ).
My question is this: do I jump ship on Montee Ball and try to add Reece or someone else who could give points now at least in my flex? I love Montee Ball, but not sure he will see the field this season in any real capacity without an injury to Moreno.
Thanks in advance!
While you won’t hear me say Ball won’t rebound at some point, in redraft, Reece is a decent option right now for sure. You could always pick Montee back up. In redraft, he may sit on waivers for a bit, but know that if Moreno got hurt, he could thrive. Reece is strong, though.
For Week 6 PPR, is it safe to say you’d start TY Hilton over Keenan Allen or Terrance Williams? My first 3 WRs are Wayne, Shorts, and Steve Smith.
Nothing is safe to say this year but I start Hilton no question. Can Allen or Williams outscore him? Sure, they could outscore Calvin on an off week, but it’s tough sitting a guy that just dropped 140 and 2TDs, and has something like 7 100-yard games so far and he is only 5 games into his second season and is often lining up as the 3rd WR on his team’s offense. Not being the team’s No. 2, or 1 for that matter, is frustrating, but at the same time, they get a lot out of Hilton in his current role. Starting, not starting, it doesn’t really matter with a guy like Hilton and with a passer like Luck.
Hi Smitty. Rice owner has been hounding me for a year about Julio.
I was never going to deal Julio, but I’m beginning to wonder if this injury might turn chronic. I’m OK putting up Julio & Pierce, +, if the price is right.
Charles, Trent, Ball, Franklin, Latti, Ivory, Michael/Gordon, Hilton, Hopkins, Hunter, Jeffery, Nicks, Stills/Cameron, Cook, Kelce, Reed, Witten round out my roster.
His players of interest to me are Miller, Vereen, Julius Thomas, and possibly Fitz, Colston, Morris, Crabtree, Patterson & Eifert.
Calc’s 10/1/13 rankings have Julio & Pierce slightly better than Miller & Vereen, but I’m sure Julio’s injury will change that. The Rice owner is also highly interested in Witten. I was thinking something along the lines of, Julio+Pierce+Witten for Miller+Vereen+?
Got any ideas about a good Julio offer?
Nah, this owner doesn’t have the pieces, you’d be forcing it and not happy. You need to get a AJ Green on the cheap… not possible straight up, but I attack something more bold, or stand still. Your RBs are solid. I like Trent for the long-term, however, Julio for Doug Martin isn’t a bad move, but then you are left needing at WR and TRich has no trade value – yet. He should have more value later, though, and so will Martin. You a gambling man? If so, and if you are not competing for this year, you could trade for Martin, then let both TRich or Martin or both increase their values, then trade into an AJ Green or Calvin? If you are playing for this year, I still attack a different owner.
Actually, he has AJ, but I’m sure he’s picturing the AJ-Julio combo on his roster, which is why I didn’t mention him. AJ and Martin are THE favorite players of their respective owners, so I’m sure AJ, & pretty sure Martin, won’t be on the table.
I’m not trading Trent, period, unless it’s a blow-me-away deal.
MANY owners want to bail on him, but not me. I think Trent will become the #1 overall fantasy player by 2015–at which time he will just be turning 25. People talk about trading Trent for Spiller, but I don’t get it; Spiller is 3 years older, 30+ lbs. lighter, weak at the goal-line, and blocked by a weaker team, an ageless FJax, and an inability to play through a history of injuries. Call me nuts, but I wouldn’t trade Richardson for AP OR Martin! I LOVE me some Trent Richardson!!!
Which takes us back to Julio. The strategy is to use Julio to get a major RB+WR upgrade, or stay put, right?
I picked some of the desireable players from the league rosters. In order, the owners of these players are more likely to consider trading top assets.
1. McCoy-Bryce, Torrey, Gronk
2. Gio, Martin, Lacy, Stacy, Wheaton, Broyles, Ertz
3. Bell, Blackmon, Harvin, Moreno
4. Foster, Spiller, Tron, Dez, Cruz
5. AJ, Fitz, Miller, Vereen, Julius Thomas
See anything you think you could make work?*
*Owner #4 just sent me an offer of Welker for Julio, and added the comment, “or maybe James Jones and a 2014 3rd.”, so you know he’s not serious. I told him to bring Dez into the discussion, & we’ll talk.
I doubt you get a McCoy, Dez, etc.. You’d have to give up quite a bit more to land either for a hurt Julio. Go after Martin, AJ Green (like you said you probably can’t steal him away), Spiller/Cruz combo … DT.. Past something like that, I don’t sell in dynasty leagues.
Is montee ball best left on the wire at this point? I just dont think the broncos are going to mess to much with whats working in that ridiculous offense.
For now, maybe. Can you envision a scenario where Ball doesn’t start until week 10 or 11? I can. Keep an eye on him if you leave him on waivers.
Roster sizes force him to waivers I get it. Just monitor that situation!
Getting offered Antonio Brown and Antonio Gates for Calvin Johnson in a redraft. Just lost Owen Daniels and my back up is Kyle Rudolph. Current Lineup is:
Romo/Luck
Richardson/Spiller/Woodhead/Stacy
Calvin Johnson/AJ Green/Cecil Shorts/Chris Givens
Kyle Rudolph/Coby Fleener
I’m thinking about doing it, lingering knee issues for calvin. Antonio Brown is already past his bye week and antonio gates has the 2nd most receiving yard for tight ends. Thoughts?
I just checked some projections for points for the remaining games:
Johnson PPR-187/Standard-134
Brown PPR-176/St-112
Gates PPR-151/St-99
Fleenor PPR-103/St-69
Rudolph PPR-99/St-61
Calvin’s PPR’s #13 overall player, Brown#29, Gates#39
Fleenor#132, Rudolph is outside the top 160.
