Week 16 Waiver Wire Advice

Congrats to all that have made it this far! If your league still allows for add/drops, here are a list of the top Waiver Wire Candidates heading into Week 16! Even if you are out of your playoffs, but play in dynasty, give this list a look! Good luck in Week 16, everyone!

DeAngelo Williams – CAR RB

Johnathan Stewart (knee) is banged up again, which means the DWill show we all witnessed in Week 15 could be on replay in Week 16 (well, to an extent).

Jordan Todman – JAC RB

Maurice Jones-Drew could be back this week, stay on the news on that one, but either way Jordan Todman has earned some serious carries entering Week 16. Would be be a high RB2 lock if getting all the carries? Absolutely, so know that, but even with the threat of MJD being back in action, you have to wonder how much he can handle (if he does play), thus Todman is still a good play in Week 16.

Trent Richardson – IND RB

Available in 15-20% in all leagues is Trent Richardson. Donald Brown is questionable for Week 16 with a stringer, so monitor that news no questions! If starting, despite his low YPC average, Richardson would be a good bet for 60-70 rushing yards and a good shot at a score if starting in Week 16.

Rueben Randle – NYG WR

With Victor Cruz (concussion, knee) likely to sit Week 16, if not longer, Rueben Randle is a solid pick up. He would be an excellent one if the Giants and Eli Manning were better, but for now, he should be owned at the very least, and started as a WR3/4 in the deepest of leagues.

Andre Caldwell – DEN WR

It’s tough to know how much run this kid will get, as he was a Wes Welker replacement in Week 15, but it’s important to recognize that he and Peyton Manning have good rapport. Grab him and then reevaluate based on Welker’s health and what the news projects usage wise.

Edwin Baker – CLE RB

Everyone, including us, thought Chris Ogbonnaya was going to get Willis McGahee’s (concussion) workload in Week 15… but no, it was Edwin Baker that got the bulk of the carries. Baker was signed off the Texans’ practice squad, so it was strange to see him get the carries in Week 15, but he produced with 12 touches for 84 total yards. It’s tough to know what to expect here, but we should grab the kid and reevaluate later in the week. Dynasty leaguers should grab him and hold. You never know!

Dennis Johnson – HOU RB

Ben Tate is getting a CAT scan on his broken ribs today, at least that’s the word on news wires. So, while Tate could still play in Week 16, it’s a smart move to snag up Dennis Johnson just in case. He Tate ends up being ok, then just cut Johnson entering Week 16, but why not grab him now just in case news later in the week suggests that Johnson will start Week 16?

More Players To Consider

Ryan Fitzpatrick – TEN QB

Mike Tolbert – CAR RB

Kirk Cousins – WAS QB

Jason Campbell – CLE QB

Marvin Jones – CIN WR

Hey Smitty, do you think Johnson has the talent to be “the guy” for Houston next year should that opportunity present itself?

Tough to say at this point. I need to see a lot more before I even go there I think… but looking ahead is smart, it’s how you land that next guy, so nice work.

You seen the movie “Iceman” yet? Just came out on iTunes. Crazy movie. Is that where your username came from, the famous “Iceman”?

    https://draftcalc.com/forums/discussion/14970/week-16-championship-startbench#Item_1

i know you put out projections but i just wanted to get as many opinions as I can causes its a messy situation in my flex and a lot of players of my players are projected for around the same production and Im having a hard time deciding. thanks

hey smitty i forgot to mention that i might be picking up dennis johnson tomorrow. im 3rd on waivers. i have to pick up dennis to block him from the guy im playing against in the championship and i am also considering starting him myself over steven jackson, monte ball, cameron, or T.Y in my flex if i get him. this is a non ppr league and im thinking of getting fancy in my flex because i feel like steven Jacksons gonna get 8-9 points so id rather swing for the fence for a grand slam or fall short and get 5 points from any of these players im considering.

whats your take on the houston game do you think houston falls behind early and avoids running the ball? dennis vs that broncos defense sure is juicy ill have a lot to think about before kick off. thanks man

I consider starting him over Sjax, Ball, Cameron and TY. Put a poll up on that one on the forums and post the link here in a reply. Tough to say if HOU will get behind early. I think they lose, sure, but this is the NFL, and the obvious doesn’t alway happen. Even if taken out of the running game plan due to a blow out, he should receive some passes. And, surprisingly despite all the blow outs by DEN, they are 10 in terms of surrendering fantasy points to RBs (I think I’m right on that stat).

“add poll” – you just created a topic, if you create an actual voting poll, you will get double the votes than comments. You should be able to edit the post and add the poll. Just a suggestion.

@cuse22 Actually, I just edited the topic and added the poll for you. Go vote :)

thanks Smitty I appreciate it. I see you have lamar miller low on your projections and i get that cause they are so inconsistent in the way they use him but im hearing daniel thomas didn’t practice again. Does his value sky rocket if thomas doesn’t suit up . miller did get 22 carries 2 weeks ago against the jets for a respectable 70 yards. jets run D is tough so i consider that a good showing. Lamar has scored double digit fantasy points 4 out of 5 times when he gets the ball more then 11 times id loveeeeee me some 22 carries vs buffalo this week for my flex.

I think it goes up a ton, not sure it sky rockets, and that’s only because MIA has failed to use him right for a whole season now. But sure, if he gets the touches, 100 and a score is very doable. Very. I wish he was on a different team. Miller is Frank Gore talent wise, i have no doubt about that. Unfortunately, talent doesn’t always = numbers.

I’m going DC STYLE going bold I’m starting kendall wright .who i just picked up off waivers last night. I’d rather swing for the fence. Even if he gets 7 or 8 that’s what I feel lamar and dennis can get anyways but has more of a chance to strike for 15. My gut is just screaming wright I had too. Thanks for all of the advice this year. Big thanks for opening my eyes to gordon. Keep up the good work smitty.
