Below you will find our Week 6 Start Bench Advice for the 2013 fantasy football season. Who should you start entering Week 6? Who should you sit? If you have start ‘em and sit ‘em dilemmas not mentioned below, be sure to post a comment at the end of the article; I, or one of our awesome DraftCalc moderators, will try and hit you back with an answer!

Also, don’t forget to check out our Week 6 Projections.

Let’s get to it!

Trent Richardson at SD

Trent Richardson at SD

Trent Richardson is a doubted man, and I talk more about why I like his value moving forward in the “buy-low” section below. As for Week 6, this match up is fantastic, as the Chargers are 26th against the run and it’s a Monday night game. Anything can happen, and flow of the contest can take a rushing attack out of the game plan, but my guess is that Indy is going to prove some things in this one, like trading for Trent Richardson was a great move. With 18 and 20 carries in back-to-back games, the odds are that Richardson will get 18-20 carries on Monday night, and that should spell 100 and a score. This could be the T-Rich breakout party! Why do I believe in the runner despite his low YPC average? Again, all that is below under “buy-low”.

Knowshon Moreno vs. JAC

Knowshon Moreno vs. JAC

Knowshon Moreno faces the league’s worst rushing defense in this one. Jacksonville surrenders 160 rushing yards per game, and something tells me that the Broncos will finally run the ball, instead of pass, once they get out to a big lead. That doesn’t mean Peyton Manning won’t have 300 and 2-3 scores, but I think the Broncos will give their passer’s arm a rest in this one just as soon as they can. Rest meaning running. This could have Moreno rushing for well over 100 yards and a score in this one. Don’t be shocked if we get a little Montee Ball action late in the game, which will be nice to see, as his value is non-existent right now.

Zac Stacy at HOU

Zac Stacy at HOU

Zac Stacy is a solid play this week, as he faces off against the Texans, who are tied for 28th against the run. If given the carries, Stacy could be good for 100 and a touch in this one. Last week, Stacy rushed the ball 14 times for 78 yards (5.6) – He looked good, he just needed more carries. Don’t bench any big name players for the guy, but he makes for a sneaky play this week at your RB3/flex.

Ben Tate vs. STL

Ben Tate vs. STL

First off, Arian Foster is probably going to have a monster game in this one, as the Texans face the Rams. Both rushing attacks should do well against these mediocre rushing defenses. Foster, however, is in line for 120-140 total yards and at least 1TD. Ben Tate could benefit, though, as HOU will likely run a lot in this game, as Matt Schaub is taking the team out of games with his INTs. Last week he had 3INTs, 2 the week prior and he has 9 on the year. With this juicy rushing match-up, I think Houston will run a ton and will have to rotate backs a bit more in order to do it effectively. Anything can happen, though, so make sure Tate is only used in sneaky fashion, but I like the odds of him getting 10+ carries, which can lead to 50 and a score for a guy like Tate.

Justin Blackmon at DEN

Justin Blackmon at DEN

Here is what you need to consider. Denver is fantastic on offense, and Jacksonville is not. Denver has an awful passing attack. Denver will probably get out to an early lead, which means Jacksonville will be passing, passing and passing in the 3rd and 4th quarters. Struggling offense or not, Justin Blackmon is going to see a lot of run and a lot of targets. I wouldn’t be shocked if he had 6 receptions for 100+ and a score in this one. Welcome back, Justin Blackmon!

Robert Griffin III at DAL

Robert Griffin III at DAL

Robert Griffin III has a fantastic match-up in this one, as Dallas ranks second-to-last against the pass. RG3 is also well rested coming off the bye. Also, this game is on Sunday night, so expect RG3 to bring his A game. I realize you might be doubting the guy if you own him, but give him a run this week before you write him off as a strong QB1 moving forward. Once fully healthy, and he is getting there, I think he can once again flirt with top 5 fantasy QB numbers.

Willis McGahee vs DET

Willis McGahee vs DET

Willis McGahee has a nice match-up against Lions, who rank 27th against the run. He isn’t the most attractive start, but if you need 70-80 and a score, this is your guy.

Trent Richardson – RB IND
[level-all]

Trent Richardson – RB IND

Trent Richardson is a doubted man, there is no arguing that. He faced SEA last week, so a down week was expected. The facts: 1) His YPC are low, 2) Ahmad Bradshaw is done for the year, 3) Richardson got 20 carries in Week 4 and 18 carries in Week 5… and 4) Richardson has scored 2TDs in three games in Indy. This can go two ways. One, Richardson will continue to struggle in the YPC department (to the point Indy eventually surrenders some more carries to Donald Brown). Two, Richardson starts breaking off big runs and looks like the rusher here (skip to 2:23 into the clip, where Richardson makes a big-time run last week near the end of the game when the game was essentially on the line). I still believe. I love the guy. I could care less about YPC through three games with his new team. I see him run, I see the carries and why his YPC are low. He is a beast, it’s just a matter of time. I believe T-Rich is the runner at 2:23 into that clip above, and I think Richardson finishes strong. Buy-low, though, as that’s the key here. If you buy-high you are killing the upside!

[/level-all]

Giovanio Bernard – RB CIN
[level-all]

Giovanio Bernard – RB CIN

Giovanio Bernard was on last week’s list, and yep, he is on this week’s list as well. As I said last week, Gio is on his way out of a RBBC, not falling into one. Will he get even 60% of the work soon? That’s tough to say, but he is the kind of player that can produce big-time numbers on even 55% of the workload, as that keeps him fresh and explosive.

[/level-all]

Doug Martin – RB TB
[level-all]

Doug Martin – RB TB

Doug Martin is a top 5RB if you ask me, but because of his 45-yard Week 4 outing, everyone is forgetting that he started the season off with 65 rushing yards and 1TD in Week 1 and 144 rushing yards in Week 2. That’s a fine start. There is nothing wrong with that start. And his Week 3 was a touch disappointing, but he still racked up 88 rushing yards and 20 receiving, which is 108 total yards and 2 receptions. Buy-low while you still can. This guy is being shipped off like a second-round talent, but I still see him as a top 5RB. Plus, he is bye free the rest of the way, and he is fresh coming off that bye. Struggling at 1-4, or 2-3? Buy a guy like this that has already had his bye and you can make up ground quickly!

[/level-all]

Marshawn Lynch – RB SEA
[level-all]

Marshawn Lynch – RB SEA

Marshawn Lynch is not having a bad season, yet the running back seems to be available at bargain prices via trade. He only had 43 yards in Week 1, and I think that has stuck with some of his fantasy owners… still, he had 98 yards rushing and 3TDs in Week 2… He also had 102 rushing yards last week and managed 98 rushing and a score in Week 4. He is having a fantastic season thus far. So why can he be had outside of top 7RB value? I have no clue! All I know is that he is a bargain right now, and if healthy, he will likely continue this pace all the way through the remainder of the 2013 fantasy football season.

[/level-all]

Our Week 6 Player Projections are sortable, so that you can list only running backs, quarterbacks, wide receivers or tight ends individually. Or, you can list all positions at once. We also have a PPR and non-PPR sorting option. Your line-up decisions just got a whole lot easier!

Now that Julio is probably gone for the season, is Harry Douglas a good pick up? Any other suggestions?

he is a projected wr 3 IMO. I wouldn’t expect Julio numbers but he should see an increase in targets and catches so yes he would be a nice pickup.GL

Smitty I have an interesting dilemma in a unique league. Its 12 team non ppr and u can keep 1 player but it cant be your first round pick. My 1st was trich and my 2nd was julio. I had planned on keeping julio but do I really carry him all season now just to keep him for 2014? I also have cobb newton lamar miller and ty hilton. Julio was smoking them all in my opinion but now what? My teams 4-1 but that roster spot could be valuable here soon with bye weeks. What would u do buddy?

tough choice but I don’t see anyway I would drop Julio over any over of those guys even for a valuable roster spot. I much prefer him over cobb and that would be only player I would consider at all. Do you have extra kickers or def’s I would drop one of those if you do after the bye week comes around.

No, that’s quite a bit, redraft or dynasty, but especially too much in dynasty. Cruz is close enough to Green, playing better right now… Spiller, TRich, McGahee, Cruz, Gordon, Garcon… stay the course!

I would. Martin is top 5 to me in dynasty. Forte is right there in redraft, but people are having knee-jerk reactions on Martin, a guy taken No. 2 overall in many leagues, or at least top 4-5.

Smitty, in my big cookie league if u dont make top 6 and are in bottom 6 u compete for toilet bowl win money back . Should i add M Crabtree or Andre Brown or both who to cut , D Hopkins, M Ball, M Reece , K Allen. 1 player keeper so didnt want to cut M Ball just in case he becomes starter. Right now for next year either keeping Spiller in 6th , Dez Bryant in 3rd, or P Harvin in 15th but what to do to win now thanks

Not sure either of those guys make me cut anyone yet. I don’t see Crabbs pulling a Blackmon or Gordon, as both weren’t hurt like Crabs. Plus, let me ask you this, and cut Ball if the answer is no… Can you envision a scenario where Ball doesn’t play until Week 10 or 11 even, but still thrive from that point on? It happens with rookies. He may never start a game, it’s possible, but I just hang onto him. But that’s me.

I was thinking of starting Schaub over Pryor, because of matchups, but see you have Pryor rated way higher. Higher against KC than Schaub against SL. What am I missing here?

Pryor is dynamic and runs. He is kinda matchup proof, in a low-end QB1 kinda way. But Schaub could outscore him… Trust your gut!

Ok here is my dilema. I too am a Julio Jones owner in a 12 team (keep 4 players) standard non ppr start 2 RBs and 3 WRs. Heres my team:
    Romo

L Miller B Pierce Bryce Brown David Wilson
    T Rich Vereen Hillman

    Gordon Harry Douglas
    Dez Keenan Allen
    Alshon Jeffrey

I am 2-3 and need a RB this week unless I start Pierce, Brown, or Hillman…YIKES!
My question is would you trade Josh Gordon and Lamar Miller for Doug Martin? Is that too much? He would probably also send me a WR that he would drop. Probably Hartline??

That’s a tough one. Either could get those mop-up carries. Pierce is guaranteed more touches, most likely, but it’s a coin toss given that when/if Ball does get a grip of carries, he should do well. Pierce is more of the lock to get ‘some’ action at least.

Hey Smitty – 12 team keeper league with cap space trade proposal

D Martin for Julio, Zac Stacy, and $10.00 towards next years cap.

    My team consists of:
    QB -Griffin
WR – AJ Green, D-Thomas, Rueben Randle, Robert Woods, and Kenny Britt
RB – T Rich, Woodhead, Stacy, Brandon Bolden, and Andre Brown
    TE – Graham and Fleener

    Thoughts?

Pretty even if you ask me. There is some risk with Julio, sure, but DMartin is concerning a lot of people right now, so I think some would say there is risk there as well. I don’t doubt Martin all that much, though, and nor do I doubt Jones, so you have two players right here that are both inside my top 7-12 overall for 2014 and beyond. Because this team above has AJ Green, DThomas, and needs the RB help most of all, I like the DMartin side by quite a bit (for this team).

      RG3
      Martin, TRich
AJG, DThomas, (work in progress at WR3)
      Graham

That’s a very balanced team. Nice work!
