Ok, Week 1 of the 2013 NFL Preseason is in the rear-view mirror. Who were the Week 1 Preseason standouts? Most years, Week 1 of the Preseason tells us very little, and we actually recommend that fantasy owners rarely draw any conclusions from it; however, this week revealed a lot! Let’s get to it!

What did we learn about DeAndre Hopkins during the Texans’ Week 1 Preseason outing, where he pulled in 4 receptions for 52 yards and a score (a 34-yard touchdown grab)? Nothing. We have been talking this kid up as the next top 5-10 fantasy wide receiver since January, when it was unpopular to even like him as a strong NFL prospect; even then, I had him as my No. 1 rookie receiver prospect… most sites didn’t even have this kid on their radar January, at least in terms of being the next elite stud receiver in the NFL, but we boldly stuck to our guns. For those of you following our advice all off-season, and for those of you especially paying attention to our Upside Board, you likely stole Hopkins away from a lot of people this off-season! Congrats! As for other Texans, keep an eye on Cierre Wood, who carried the football 10 times for 59 yards… this kid could quietly sneak into the team’s No. 2 running back role. He could just as easily fade into the night, know that, but it’s something to monitor if you own Foster, or just want to snag a deep, deep sleeper in the largest of leagues. TJ Yates (151/1TD/0INTs), as I’ve said for years, is underrated, and Texans fans, and Hopkins owners, will be ok if anything should happen to Matt Schaub this season. Know that!Oh, and yes, I admit, Cordarrelle Patterson looked polished in his Preseason debut. I have gone on record suggesting he is too raw, and that a mediocre passing game will slow his growing process. He was raw as a college prospect, but the kid has clearly picked things up quickly at the next level, and he looks explosive. Do I think Minnesota has a good enough passing game to make Patterson a first-year monster like DeAndre Hopkins could be? Probably not, so Patterson’s limitation will be directly linked to the success of his passer, but I do like what I see out of Patterson for the future. Things change, and being able to observe, adapt and change directions is how a fantasy owner thrives in fantasy football. Pride won’t win you championships!

Aaron Rodgers and James Jones looked fantastic on Friday during their team’s Week 1 Preseason outing. If you doubted Jones‘ 2012 season, you may want to reevaluate that stance. Jones pulled in a 50-yard bomb from Rodgers early on in the contest; it’s crystal clear that the rapport between the two is very, very strong. As for those Cardinal players, Carson Palmer was impressive, throwing 4-of-6 for 77 yards and a score (to Andre Roberts). Get ready for the return of Larry Fitzgerald, DC Nation!

In the Dallas-Oakland game this weekend, we got confirmation that Dez Bryant is every bit the first-round-capable talent that all three of Calvin Johnson, Julio Jones and AJ Green are. While I would say that Dez comes with a touch more injury risk than the other three, his upside is every bit the same. Dez is one of my biggest bold/breakout predictions since I entered this industry back in 2005… he was a 4th- to 6th-round pick last August, yet I warned fantasy worlds that Dez was about to become a top 3-5 fantasy wide receiver. Nothing has changed, and only injury will prevent Dez from sometimes single handedly winning weeks for fantasy owners everywhere. Oh, and Dez pulled in three passes for 55 yards during his team’s Week 1 Preseason outing against the Raiders. As for the other side of the football, we learned that Terrelle Pryor, while sometimes mistake-prone, might eventually be starting for Oakland this season, and that offense will change drastically, in a positive way, once he lines up under center. So many things can happen, like injury, lack of opportunity, offensive collapse unrelated to the passer… but for some reason I think Pryor could be something special. Take note, dynasty owners!

Jamaal Charles looked great in Week 1 of the 2013 fantasy football Preseason; he had 5 carries for 13 yards and a score, while adding 3 receptions for 27 yards. While I worry about him for the long-term, given his size, Charles is a very underrated top 4-8 overall pick heading into 2013 fantasy football yearly-league drafts (underrated even by myself). That top 10 overall is loaded with talent this year, sometimes Charles falls further than he should in drafts…As for the New Orleans side of the football, Kenny Stills was targeted a lot by Brees during Brees’ short time on the field, which is merely something to think about and monitor.

[level-all]
Denard Robinson played a lot of running back in the Jaguars’ Week 1 preseason outing. Did he start? No, but he looked good running the football. Just be warned, this dynamic player has tremendous upside, and being able to throw the football makes it tough to keep him off the field. I cannot guarantee the Jaguars will use Robinson properly this season, or that they would even if let’s say Maurice Jones-Drew were to go down; however, if they did, watch out. As for other Jaguars, coach Gus Bradley recently held a meeting with suspended receiver Justin Blackmon, who had to be escorted off the field Friday night after arguing with teammates. Some players just don’t get it, but Cecil Shorts owners won’t be complaining about that when he collects solid fantasy WR3 numbers this year.Lamar Miller has been explosive, but quietly explosive. In his two played contests so far this Preseason, the Dolphins runner has rushed the ball four times for 27 yards (6.75 YPC)… not making big noise thus far is a good thing for those targeting him this early August. Yes, Miller remains my No. 1 breakout heading into 2013, as can be seen here! I’m not so sure I’d expect even legit fantasy WR2-type numbers out of Mike Wallace this season. Can he surprise me? Sure, I’m not ruling WR2-type numbers out, I’m just suggesting that no one draft Wallace as a strong fantasy WR2 this year, and not to expect WR2-type production. I just don’t like the way he is meshing with that offense. I think his speed will surely stretch the field, but changing teams isn’t always easy for a receiver, and that appears to be be the case here. Dustin Keller is a sleeper tight end this season; he pulled in two passes for 42 yards and a TD on Friday night.
[/level-all] - Bears @ Panthers
- [level-all]
It appears that Cam Newton is going to help Steve Smith have one more very strong fantasy season. I predict Newton flirts with that No. 1 overall quarterback spot in fantasy throughout all of 2013; even though a lot of Newton’s success comes on the ground, success that pushes him into the top 1-3 overall for fantasy passers, someone has to catch those No. 1 wide receiver targets in Carolina this season… if you doubted Smith, or expected a decline in production as he heads into his crazy-old 34-age season, think again! He looks quick for 34. Also, that Panthers’ backfield is crowded enough with both DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart fighting for an already-mediocre workload, but monitor Kenjon Barner; the dude is explosive and ran the ball with power on Friday night (9 carries for 37 yards and 1TD, with 2 receptions for 17 yards).

[level-all]
What did we learn from the Patriots’ Week 1 Preseason outing? We learned that both Shane Vereen and Stevan Ridley can both co-exist. That isn’t to say I can’t envision a scenario that eventually has Vereen getting more carries than Ridley (on top of nearly all the running back receptions), because I can… but, we’d have to have half a season of struggles on Ridley’s part, or a major injury to Ridley, for Vereen to force New England to change the workload distribution – for now that is. Does Ridley’s presence mean Vereen could disappoint? Absolutely not. Even if given only 40% of the carries in New England, Vereen dominates in the receiving department, which means that both Ridley and Vereen are often going to be on the field at the same time. Even with Ridley starting, Vereen is the new Darren Sproles, a player that can crank out fantasy RB2-type numbers while mainly in a receiving-type role for his team. If he starts, like if something should happen to Ridley, well, enter a low-end fantasy RB1. Don’t count on that, that’s not how you capitalize on a player’s upside and draft value, but just know the ability is there for Vereen to enter top 10-15 overall scoring status if he should get starter carries on top of his receiving workload. As for other Patriot players, Kembrell Thompkins is the Anquan Boldin of this season. Meaning, every once in a while a rookie receiver is shoved into a unique situation, one where that raw talent is forced to grow up fast and the player is force-fed a veteran’s dose of targets. Boldin was fantastic during his rookie season and played football like a five-year veteran… Thompkins might just be in that exact same situation as a rookie, and he could have a fantastic season in 2013. Tom Brady, who looked great on Friday night (7-of-8 passes for 65 yards and a touchdown), loves this youngster! Oh, and of course we have to mention LeGarrette Blount’s 11 carries for 101 yards and 2TDs… All I can say is this… it’s Preseason football. That Philly defense was awful in this Week 1 contest against the Patriots, and Blount did not look particularly fast, or shifty, on his 51-yard run (despite some change of directions on the way to the end zone). The stats don’t tell the entire story. Is Blount a guy to monitor? Sure. Is he a player to own in deep leagues? Sure. Am I expecting him to see a lot of carries in 2013? No. He could get goal line carries, or 4th and inches type of touches, sure, but until injury strikes both Ridley and Vereen, or at least one, Blount is not on my radar.Michael Vick (4-of-5 passes for 94 yards and a touchdown) looked sharp on Friday, throwing an impressive touchdown strike to DeSean Jackson. Vick is a nice sleeper quarterback this season if you plan to draft a similar sleeper passer to sit next to him, like a Sam Bradford, however, one shouldn’t go into 2013 with Vick as their clear starter. Upside is there, no question, but fantasy owners have to be smart. Plus, this 2013 fantasy quarterback class is too deep to not have a Vick-like talent next to Vick, if Vick is your choice.

Montee Ball is on the decline in most everyone’s eyes, which is great news if you believe in him. I’m already seeing “Montee isn’t going to start” comments, and I’m being asked “Smitty, do you still believe in Ball because it looks like this is a RBBC in Denver?” questions… I like seeing these kinds of comments and questions. Honestly, I do. It spells value! Could Montee start the season as the No. 2? He might, yes… Not starting Week 1 doesn’t predict how this marathon-of-a-season will turn out. Having a slow start to the season won’t eliminate Ball’s chances of being both a 2013 monster, or a strong finisher. He is by far the most talented back on that Denver roster, and while anyone can get “CJ Spillered” and not used effectively, talent should win out on this one even if it takes 2-3 weeks to unfold. Will it take 2-3 weeks? Yes, it could, but also know that it could take longer. I predict by Week 3-4 we start seeing Ball shine. Remember, we haven’t even hit Week 2 of the 2013 NFL Preseason… overreacting is quite normal, especially with a player like Ball who is already doubted by so many… I’m going to take full advantage of this growing doubt in any dynasty league I’m in where I don’t already own Ball.Colin Kaepernick was sharp in this game, going 4-of-4 for 38 yards.

Dion Lewis (12 rushing yards to go along with 3 receptions for 22 yards and 1TD) was fantastic on Thursday night, proving two things.. 1) He is the dynamic back-up in Cleveland, a player all Trent Richardson owners should own… 2), Norv Turner will produce an elite rushing attack this year. Granted, Trent Richardson will likely drop top 1-4RB numbers in 2013 if healthy, but Lewis, if forced to start, would still crank out excellent fantasy RB2-type numbers (if not better). Lewis is one of the most important handcuff rushers of all 2013. Also, Richardson owners should be very pleased with Brandon Weeden’s 10-of-13 performance, where he racked up 112 yards and 1TD. Even a semi-solid passing attack is going to make it tough for defenses to contain T-Rich this year. Weeden looking solid is great news here!On the Rams side of the football, Daryl Richardson looked super-strong and ultra-fast on Friday. I’m a big-time Isaiah Pead believer, but his early fumble on Thursday night opened an already-cracked door for Richardson. Don’t write Pead off just yet, but Richardson is the guy to own early on in 2013, especially given that he will most likely start Week 1 with Pead suspended. If injury strikes Richardson, or if Pead ever gets a shot, I stand by the fact that he has grips and grips of talent, but it’s time to acknowledge that Richardson is low-end RB2 capable (but with risk given the situation). Oh, and Sam Bradford was awesome in this one, going 5-of-8 for 102 yards and 1TD; the touchdown was to Chris Givens (3-82/1TD), who looks like Bradford’s go-to receiver heading into 2013!
[/level-all] - Ravens @ Bucs
- [level-all]
Bernard Pierce took a shot to the knee, but early indications are that the injury is not serious; Pierce is the No. 1 must-own handcuff in fantasy football. If ever forced to start, the guy would instantly be a top 5-10 fantasy running back. Take that to the bank! Tyrod Taylor looked shockingly strong in Week 1 of the 2013 NFL Preseason, throwing for 154 yards and 2TDs (also running for 27 yards); Nothing to see here other than the fact that BAL fans should be very pleased with their security net at the quarterback position. Having a good back-up QB means one injury won’t shutdown all fantasy scoring on that offense!
[/level-all] - Seahawks @ Chargers
- [level-all]
Christine Michael was impressive on Thursday, running for 89 yards on 16 carries. This rookie is special and he would be a top 5-10 fantasy rusher if forced to start; he remains one of the top handcuff rushers heading into 2013!
[/level-all] - Jets @ Lions

Calvin Johnson was amazing as usual, pulling in just three quick passes for 58 yards. Reggie Bush (3 carries for 5 yards) didn’t do much during his limited action, but that will change as the preseason moves along.

Josh Johnson might be better than Andy Dalton. Don’t’ get me wrong, Cincy will not bench Dalton heading into 2013, but AJ Green owners have to love seeing a QB like Johnson sitting behind Dalton just in case Dalton fails, or gets hurt. The only risk at all relating to AJ Green has been “What happens if Andy Dalton gets hurt?”. Now we have the answer to that question: Josh Johnson.Matt Ryan (6-of-9 for 89 yards against Cincy) and that Falcons’ offense will be even better this year than last year. They have Steven Jackson keeping defenses honest, and Julio Jones is about to go from late second-round grab (his ADP currently = 2.10, which is stupid-low) to the No. 1 or No. 2 overall receiver in the league.
[/level-all] - Redskins @ Titans
- [level-all]
Chris Johnson still has top 5RB ability, proven by his 58-yard touchdown run against the Redskins during Week 1 of the 2013 NFL Preseason. The question is, and will remain all season, can CJ2K get consistent room to run the football? Let’s hope a healthy Kenny Britt will indeed provide CJ2K the room he needs on Sundays. CJ2K remains low risk near his 2nd- to 3rd-round ADP, but any higher than that and he turns into a high-risk type player heading into 2013. He just can’t be trusted any higher than that value until his passing attack proves worthy.

Victor Cruz pulled in one pass for 57 yards and a touchdown. Cruz, despite all the success that he has had so far in his career, is still doubted enough to make him a nice sneaky low-end fantasy WR heading into 2013. This outing may have changed that, though, so don’t be shocked if his ADP jumps up 5-10 picks after Saturday’s outing.Emmanuel Sanders is a big sleeper to many heading into 2013, and for good reason. Ben Roethlisberger looked for him quite a bit in limited action on Saturday night, and the receiver pulled in three passes for 27 yards. I still like Antonio Brown as the No. 1 receiver in Pittsburgh this season, but Sanders might have something to say about that! As for Big Ben, he is truly underrated and could arguably be a very sneaky low-end fantasy QB1 this season. I’d draft a Sam Bradford or Michael Vick to go along with Roethy if I was to gamble on making Roethy my every-week passer, and the same could be said for Bradford or Vick, as any one of those three could be the sneaky starter with the other(s) as the back-ups. Point is, Roethy, and QBs like him, need good back-ups, but they are sneaky starters heading into a fantasy season with lots of top-10-capable passers!

EJ Manuel could be a beast in the making, something we’ve already addressed right here (hopefully you’ve already looked into buying low on the rookie in dynasty formats). The dude went 16-of-21 for 107 yards and 1TD on Sunday against the Colts. In this Week 1 Preseason battle, Manuel also ran the ball 3 times for 28 yards. Manuel has the makings of a top 10 fantasy QB, or better, and this Bills team is going to turn heads in 2013. CJ Spiller was his usual 6-plus YPC self in this one, rushing four times for 36 yards (9 YPC). If healthy, Spiller is going to have a cup of coffee with the top 1-4 fantasy running backs all season long!TY Hilton, who has been inside our top six Upside Board Predictions since January (and actually has been listed at No. 1 at points) exploded in his Week 1 Preseason debut, pulling in three receptions for 61 yards, including a 45-yard touchdown. Not many have agreed fully with my lofty expectations for Hilton this season, as I’ve predicted low-end fantasy WR1-type numbers in time… I stand by that fully. Get ready for the rise of a Victor Cruz caliber receiver. To those of you that acquired him on the cheap while his value was stupid-low, congrats!

Last but not least, even though I addressed Patriot players up above, I want to leave off with a little Tim Tebow discussion. Those of you that have followed my work for years know that I have lashed out against all the Tim Tebow hate and doubt over the years. I have defended Tebow as a proven winner, a winner that has yet to be proven to be anything but a winner on the field… Mark my words… if something happens to Tom Brady this year, Tebow, if started, will win games. He couldn’t be in a better situation to succeed, as Bill Belichick is a genius in many ways, and he will know how to use Tebow right. Is Tebow ever going to throw like the top five quarterbacks in the NFL? No, but if a coach is smart, like Belichick, Tebow can win. Until I see Tebow fail as a starter, after given a proper chance to start a string of games, you won’t find me within the circle of doubters. Tebow went 4-of-12 in Week 1 of the Preseason, but he also had some drops by his receivers… the guy still has never been given consistent starter snaps during a single off-season.

awesome stuff!!! are u gonna b doing this every week of preseason?
Not sure yet, I will try, or at least highlight what needs to be highlighted.
yes plz keep goin each week if u can , this is awesome stuff, gonna be waiting for week 2
Great read once again, Love that love for T-Taylor and J-Johnson…have been a huge Johnson fan for a few season, just wished he gets a chance.
Also – how can anyone not like Tebow? I mean the guys just wins and in a league of filled with self-centered bone heads, he just does the right thing. I’m not religious at all but he doesn’t seem to use it as a media hype tool like others have. Maybe he is a great actor, but from what I have seen he is just a winner, on and, more importantly, off the field.
boobam13 < getting off soap box…
Thanks, buddy.
Great article Smitty! I’m willing to have patience with Ball. Martin started off slow last yr and it took 6 weeks to get going ….
Exactly. Anyone can get Spillered, everyone needs to accept that, though. You can try to avoid it, and yes, you will be playing it safe. That’s not wrong, but I roll the dice to land top 5-10 overall players. Sometimes we land them, well often we do :), sometimes things don’t workout, and sometimes it isn’t because the player failed, but rather injury occurred. The doubt surrounding Ball is almost driving him down into low risk/high reward territory vs high risk/high reward territory.
Wishing Ryan Broyles played Friday night. Having him sit out because of a sore knee does not make me happy. Also wanted to see more of Josh Gordon I really love what Norv Turner has done with the Brown’s so far. Feeling everyone will benefit with his play calling and have a big year.
Yep, the Browns are going to do well, and all this will help keep defenses honest against the runner I think will be the top fantasy rusher per start, in Trent Richardson.
Hey, Smitty, why no mention of Markus Wheaton? I thought he look phenomenal last night.
I tried to hit em all! Where do you think his ceiling is? Comparison?
What do you think about Chris Givens? I agree with you on T.Y. Hilton and Think that their upside is about the same.
I like Givens a lot. I’m not sure I like him as much as Hilton, but that could change, I definitely wouldn’t put myself in a box and say ‘no way he is as good’, because the talent is there, the situation could be. There are a lot of mouths to feed in STL, that’s my initial reaction and why I think he may not turn into as good a receiver as Hilton… then again, who is to say Givens doesn’t get the WR1 targets and everyone else fights for the remaining targets… Bradford clearly trusts him. For now, I don’t pay the price tag I’d currently pay for Hilton, therefore I don’t expect as much, but this could be a good thing in the end, getting him for a lot less (if he does workout and meet lofty expectations). I have a good feeling about him, that’s for sure.
Smitty,
Just had my big money league draft this weekend… Tell me how you think I will do(standard scoring 10 man)

V Cruz

James Jones
Chris Johnson
Jimmy Graham
Shane Vereen
Gio Bernard
Fred Jackson
DeAndre Hopkins
Josh Gordon
Starting 1 QB 2 RB 2 WR 1 Flex TE, DF, K
Very good. Looks like a draft that happened months ago, before some players had some value increases. Nice job.
Hey Smitty!
Quick question: Does your draft strategy change at all if passing TD’s are worth 6pts? I am in a league that gives 6pts per passing TD, and QB’s tend to go early (it’s a 12 team, non-ppr, standard league that starts 1 QB, 2 RBs, 3 WR’s, 1 TE). I have the 10th pick and love the WR/WR strategy. Thanks!
No, it doesn’t change, if anything it helps one of Julio/Dez drop to that second pick. That said, it also makes me consider a QB in the mid to late second, if the WR/WR strategy isn’t playing out.
Just to be clear, do you go Julio or Rogers in the middle of the second round, based on the question above?
I like both. If you go WR/WR, but let’s say you can’t land two of the top 4 WRs (Calvin, AJG, Julio, Dez), my plan B would be to grab a QB in the second, thus you’d have the first WR (one of those four only) and Rodgers (2nd rounder)… but, I would still consider going WR/WR (landing 2 of those 4 WRs) in a QB-driven league, and as I said, if QBs go early, I bet you can go WR/WR without much of a concern of not getting 2 of those 4.
Then, grab RG3 and Bradford as your duo… RG3 is super underrated in all formats, and is a fine starter for someone going WR/WR or waiting on a QB.
Sorry to keep bugging you on the topic but I’m indecissive as hell. I have the #5 spot in a ten team redraft (non-ppr) league. My thought was to take T-Rich in round one and then Julio in round two. But part of me thinks taking Rogers round two may be better. Or do I abort the this plan and go WR/WR knowing I can land 2 of the top 4 guys you listed? I’m so confused. Please help. Lol
It’s easy. If I have 2-3 leagues, i try all those. They are all great strategies. Just pick the player that you think is the best player at the time. TRich and Julio is big-time. Love that look, and have gone that route at least once so far. Love the WR/WR, just do it in one or two leagues, not all. And Rodgers at the tail-end is solid, too, but I love the RG3 later move, then Julio in the 2nd. Julio and RG3 vs Rodgers and the WR you’d get in the round you got RG3, I think the RG3/Julio side could win out on that! It’s pretty hard to walk out of a draft upset if you took the player you liked best at each pick. When you walk out unsatisfied is when you take who you feel you should take even if you don’t want to, meaning you go a certain position just because others are making a run.
Hey Smitty,
New subscriber – Great articles – Keeper question. This is the first year for keepers – 12 team auction draft. AJ Green and Jimmy Graham vs. CJ Spiller and Colston…and Andre Brown vs. Tony Romo for the last spot as I am able to keep a total of three players. I am leaning towards AJ, Jimmy, and Andre but not sure. I love the strong WR core strategy, but also don’t want to miss on a player that could hit 2,200 total yards this year.
We are in a 1qb, 2wr, 2rbs, 1te, 2 flex league.
Thanks for your the help.
I would maybe take a TE in the third, even as high as 3.01 or 3.02, but I usually don’t take a TE as my second player. It’s not wrong, it’s just not anything I do, i like to build differently and find that next Graham (like this year, Jared Cook).
Colston? He is nowhere near worth a 2nd… if you’re talking about that Graham/Colston slot as being a 3rd rounder, i pick Graham.
But, if you are suggesting your first pick is either CJ Spiller or AJ Green, first off, either are great, I go one in one league and the other in another league, so it’s a toss up. As for your 2nd rounder, I try landing a Julio Jones, who is dropping in value for some reason. It’s tough to predict who will fall to you, as every league is different, but take a look at the ADP Data and our Rankings to get a feel for who will be around. I then have values next to the ADP data suggesting who has sleeper potential.
Sorry…maybe I didn’t explain properly. We are in an auction format and allowed to keep up to three players from last year. The constraints are another sites auction draft dollar value. Two of my three are either Graham and Green vs. CJ and Colsten and the third player is either Andre Brown or Tony Romo.
I am leaning toward Graham, Green, and Brown. After keepers are selected, we then draft auction style.
Ok, if you can’t divide the groups, AJ Green and Jimmy Graham would be hard to pass up. Love Spiller, but Colston is tough to predict this year. Because you can get a QB like Romo later, Brown I guess, but only because then you can snag David Wilson and have that duo locked up. Brown would be cheaper I’d imagine, and the dollar values could change things for the 2 vs 2 choice, but if equal, AJG and Graham!
Hey Smitty, can you rate my team please? Its a ten team ppr redraft league.
QB: Drew Brees (2nd Round)
RB: Adrian Peterson (1st Round), Alfred Morris (acquired through trade), Montee Ball (Acquired through trade), Ronnie Hillman (14th Round Pick), and BenJarvus Green-Ellis (Acquired through trade), Isaiah Pead (Waiver Wire)
WR: Dwayne Bowe (4th Round), Antonio Brown (6th Round), Mike Wallace (Acquired through trade), Percy Harvin (Waiver Wire), Sidney Rice (Waiver Wire)
TE: Jimmy Graham (3rd Round)
K: Blair Walsh (12th Round)
D/ST: Denver (10th Round)
Considering your power at TE and Rb2 while still having Brees and AP, it would be expected to have some perceived weakness, and at WR1 you have weakness. But again, that’s expected, and you have a nice group of undervalued WRs… Still, try trading 2 for 1, like for a still underrated Julio Jones, who won’t be considered a mid to late second rounder soon. Two of your WRs for Julio or a Fitz type would go a long way … If not, buy low on TY Hilton before he is fully believed in. Nice job!!!
smitty any idea when week 2 preseason thoughts might appear, sry to annoy u lol
I hope later tonight, talking late night.
Should I pick up Isaiah Pead? Hes on the waiver wire in my league.
Might need more info, like who you’d drop, roster size? I’d say yes, but you could play in a league with 12 players on your roster and a huge free agent pool.
yeah sorry, its a 15 team league and the player i plan to drop is bryce brown. Also do you think i should waste a bench spot on percy harvin? What are your opinions on him?
I take it’s a redraft if Harvin is even being considered as a drop. I like Bryce Brown more right now, but can you find another person to drop, because I like Pead. I say Bryce Brown because McCoy worries me a lot.
Hey Smitty, just wanted to know what your thoughts were on the team i just drafted.
Its a 10 team ppr league.
QB: Cam Newton
RB: Trent Richardson, Lamar Miller, Le’veon Bell, Monte Ball, Shane Vereen
WR: AJ Green, Randall Cobb, Mike Wallace, Kenny Britt, TY Hilton, Antonio Brown
TE: Brandon Meyers
K:Dan Bailey
DEF: Cincinnati
I think you crushed it. That’s a team I’d draft, no question. TRich and AJ Green, those are both first rounders and top 6-8 overall players, so not sure if you traded up, but that’s sick. Toss in Miller and Cam, two others that are 3rd round like talents with upside to be top 5 at their position. cobb, Britt and my boy Hilton? Vereen, Ball? You sure you didn’t just accidentally paste in one of my favorite rosters in this box? Sick!
No I didn’t trade up, I had 5th pick and got Trent. Then some how A.J slipped all the way down to me in the 2nd round! Crazy! The rest of the draft just felt smooth from then on and players just kept falling to me.
