DraftCalc - 2013 Season and Beyond

Wow, I am shocked at some of the response Smitty is getting back from owners. This is my second year following Smitty and someone I consider a friend & my General Manager of the PayDirt Factory. As owners we have the right to hire and fire any GM at anytime, but those who are considering that consider this.

A GM is an individual who can evaluate talent, work well with others, deal with the media, lead, manage, build and put together a winning franchise & develop a blueprint for fantasy football owners everywhere. Note: If owners did this job with average results, you need not apply. Welcome Smitty. ")

Skill Set Needed:

Leadership:

Anyone will tell you when the going gets tough the tough gets going or is it to make fun of bold predictions and talk about their own GM in a negative way. It's a way for these owners to distance themselves from their boss when things are going wrong. A GM (Smitty) who has the ability to lead and command respect will get more out of his staff a.k.a. moderators, fellow DC Nation owners and be able to keep the ship sailing in stormy seas. The anchor holds inspite of the storm (if you want to call it that) and it's only week six.

Evaluator of Talent:

No doubt, your number one skill set should be that of an evaluator of talent. The ability of a General Manager to consistently keep their pipeline full of talent via draft, trade, waiver wire (best example DC Nation) will always be guaranteed a high degree of success.

A Strong Personality:

Imagine a job where you have to deal with high demanding personalities. We are owners when frustrated can be demanding and with strong opinions. A GM must have a personality that can work daily with other strong personalities without it spiraling into personal confrontations and power struggles. A GM has to be able to communicate effectively with all types of people and not wilt when being challenged. Dealing with demanding owners can take some metal as well. We as owners are more sensitive when things aren't going our way and we want a GM (Smitty) to take bullets for us. Bottom line Smitty and DC Nation is a GREAT resource and the best option as a General Manager for Fantasy Football Owners Everywhere!

Bold Prediction: Until Smitty calls it quits he's the best GM out there.

Wow, didn't know how rough you were getting it in the week 7 projections Smitty. I'll just say since finding you and the rest of the gang here my football knowledge has gone way up in the past 5+ years of me doing fantasy football now.

Have you not been as ridiculously ahead of the curve as in previous years? Yup...

Have I even considered going anywhere else? Nope...

P.S. That last part includes all of you posters/mods as well. I've learned more/become better in the last 4-5 years & I'd say 90% is due to Smitty & Co...

Hey Smitty, I see you've moved Keenan Allen into his proper spot, you always give R. Wilson, Lynch, Marshall and now Stacy proper respect - that's A+ in my book! I may not always agree, but I didn't join to be lazy, I joined for insight and to hear opposing arguments - I've gotten both in spades, that's how you properly analyze - Draft-Calc rules! (I admit the above players I own)

And Ill say this...No one should draft a player because someone, even Smitty, says so. An owner should see that info and then watch the tape, evaluate the situation, etc... and decide if they agree or not. If you agree then draft him and if not dont. But if we agree...then its on each one of us. And if you just blindly do what others say then you are just a mindless follower and shame on you.

Every year cant be amazing for someone whos trying to predict breakouts but I can say that Ive never seen anyone hit on as many as Smitty...this year included. Its easy to point fingers in hindsight but takes guts to make these predictions in the 1st place.

I've said before, Smitty is about 40-50% right now on both his redraft and dynasty upside boards.

In a season like this one, that's above the curve.

Need I remind everyone that EVERY FANTASY FOOTBALL SITE missed on David Wilson and CJ Spiller?

There is still a lot of season left to play. Remember at this time last year R. Wilson looked like a miss, but then went on to finish the season strong.

This says it all. I dislike Moreno on a personal level right now. Not only because I have Ball on my bench rotting away, but because the Moreno owner in my league looks like a genius for drafting Moreno a round before I drafted Ball. I hate fantasy football.

I have picked Ball up in 2 Dynasty leagues in the last 2 weeks & Wilson in a third league from waivers in all 3 leagues.... there maybe some benefit to slow starts that we can take advantage of.... B-)

I agree 100%. If you can get these guys for nothing in dynasty, you could be hitting some home runs come later in the season or next year.

Oh dynasty for sure both are major holds.. Talking redraft!

That said, Im all in on Wilson and will die by his hand this year. That way I'll have someone to blame my season on..

Trying to predict upside and breakouts are one of the best things about this site. Even a 50/50 shot at hitting would be great odds and he's usually better than that (even if he is a year early sometimes). I try to take a good balance of breakouts versus value when I make my picks in redraft. I also try have a good balance in my team also. For example, I picked Gio earlier than normal because I agreed with his upside, but I also took Andre Brown (before he got hurt) to balance the upside with value if it didn't work out. It balances out the risk.

How can anyone be upset and mad about another persons picks? You don't have to pick them lol. Some people are just clowns.

So glad I got him in the 3rd or a rookie draft of 2 dynasty's last year. Thanks Smitty I had no idea until you hyped him up!
