I have a question. Eye wear online... Why so cheap?

Hey fellas, do any of you know if buying prescription eye glasses online is safe or the way to go? I have a stronger prescription myself from years of being in front of a pc, tv and well just playing games. So I needed them replaced, I went to the eye doc and they tell me it can set me back up to 700 dollars! I look up these online stores were you just punch in your prescription and it arrives a week later and the most expensive is $180. So what gives???

I'll start this with saying that I know NOTHING about eye wear. So there's your disclaimer.

But to me, that's gotta mean that a big chunk of that 700 is going toward those doctor's pay checks...

As for if the online stuff is safe- what I usually do if I see a website with really cheap stuff, is I try to see if they are accredited by the better business bureau. If they are, then you're safe. If not, then google reviews of the site, if they a perfect, then you are good. If they are either bad, or you just can't find any, stay away.

I'm sure there are sites out there that are legit and can get your glasses for much cheaper, but just check around first and don't simply buy from the absolute cheapest.

I know a guy who swears by zinnie optical, I've never tried them myself. You need to get the distance between your irises measured, that's usually not on an eyeglass prescription.

I know very little about eye wear, but I would have to guess the difference is price is about overhead.

I buy from framesdirect.com. There is incredible markup in both frames and lenses and that is why you can get such a great price break by ordering online.

Your prescription should have everything you need.

What I know now is that this generation calls them computer glasses and not reading glasses! How time has changed! Though I'm curious about this myself knowing my time for glasses is not that far away! :-B
My league is a non PPR 12 person league having a roster of 19 players each. Active roster includes 1Qb 2Rb's 3Wr's 1Te 1K 1Def. Two weeks before draft we cut the roster down to 9 keepers. My team as of now:

I know this isn't what you're asking, but one word:

    LASIK

If you can finance it or afford it, it's the best money you'll ever spend in your life.  I paid $4000 for mine when i was broke and paid it off over a year and it was the single best life decision i ever made.

Yeah between funds and having a laser pointed into my eye ball, I can't go that route. If I had 4 grand to cough up or it was the only option I'd do it. You guys have helped a lot, thanks.

As safe and as painless the process is supposed to be; I really don't blame you for that..
