Hey guys, I know I'm somewhat new to posting on the forums and I don't mean to get off the topic of fantasy but as a Directv dealer I had to let you guys know about the current promotion my company, American Satellite Concepts, is offering.

If you sign up for Directv starting today until February 5th you will receive FREE NFL Sunday Ticket Max for the 2014 season! Not only that, but if you purchase through MY company (has to be mine not 1800Direct or another dealer obviously) I will also pay for a sketch for you drawn by Smitty!

If you're interested in this deal email me at with your name, phone number, and a good range of time to call and I'll have one of my sales reps contact you and present you with the current packages and deals we have to offer or call 910-442-6850 (be sure to mention Draftcalc!) and if you purchase once you are installed you and I will notify Smitty, you'll tell him what kind of sketch you'd like done and I will be billed for your sketch! It's never too early to start prepping for the 2014 season especially when you can get a deal like this!

My company can also be found online at http://www.americansatelliteconcepts.com/ and

Who am I to stand in the way of a free NFL Sunday Ticket package, or a sketch bought on your behalf :)

Just to clarify, this isn't a DraftCalc related promotion at all, but it sounds interesting. Forever84, how long have you been doing this for the company? Thanks for bringing a deal to the forums. I usually shut these posts down, but forever84 seems like a cool dude and free nfl packages sound promising and worth hearing.

I've had directv for 14 straight years now and I would never go back to cable! But I'm sure I don't qualify for that!
My league is a non PPR 12 person league having a roster of 19 players each. Active roster includes 1Qb 2Rb's 3Wr's 1Te 1K 1Def. Two weeks before draft we cut the roster down to 9 keepers. My team as of now:
QB Russell Wilson, EJ Manuel, Josh Mckown
RB Lamar Miller, Shane Vereen, Zac Stacy, Cierre Wood
WR AJ Green, Julio Jones, Josh Gordon, Andre Johnson, Rueben Randle, Kenny Stills
TE J Reed, M. Bennett, Delanie Walker
    DEF Kansas City, Cleveland
    K Steven Hauschka

(I'm not a expert but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night!)

I agree. Not the usual spam...if I bought my own cable I'd probably do this.

Well the company is actually about three months old. I had an internship with Directv in the summer and over this last semester at UNCW I worked hand and hand with Directv on getting my own dealership and was able to get qualified and get things up and running in late October. I am headquartered in Wilmington, NC but I am capable of selling to anyone anywhere in the nation, just if you're outside of NC it would be a Directv corporate guy doing your install instead of one of my guys but either way they all do great work. As far as this deal goes the NFL Sunday Ticket Max is a deal handed down to us by corporate and the sketch part is just my additional twist to it for any draftcalc fans cause I love this site and if any of you guys are considering Directv or know anyone who is I'd obviously love for you/them to go through me and be able to provide you guys with an additional gift you wouldn't get if you went through corporate and I'd love to be able to support draftcalc in the process!

@Swampies unfortunately you wouldn't qualify for the deal man but here's what I can do, if you know anyone that's interested and they purchase from me in addition to the normal refer a friend thing I'm sure you're familiar with ($10 off your bill for 10 months) I will purchase a sketch for you and the person you refer as well!

Once again Smitty I appreciate you letting me post this!

Nope.... cuz all of the good DirecTV special offers are given to new subscribers only. I love DirecTV too but they need to start offering special deals to their existing subscribers as well.

Glad to hear DC Nation is happy with DirectTV. I have had every cable company out there and just placed my order for DirectTV last night set to be installed on Monday. Now I won't just be able to watch tv, but I will be able to direct tv..... ;)

@Whos_Ur_Doggie I agree with that 100% and wish I had the power to do so but trust me I'll be bringing that up to the corporate people above me whenever I get a chance. Just out of curiosity (because as a brand new dealer I don't think I have much pull if at all in getting any things changed yet but I'd love to be able to present a veteran customer's opinion) what kind of special deal would you be most interested in (pricing discount on your current bill/package, ability to upgrade to new equipment for free stuff like the genie, or perhaps some sort of voucher type thing for a sports or entertainment package of your choice like Sunday Ticket, League Pass, Showtime, Starz stuff like that)? Or any other ideas I'd love to hear it man and hopefully be able to pass it along to someone who has more pull than me.

I will say this, and I know it shouldn't be like this but just being up front with you guys a lot of times if you call Directv corporate and express your dissatisfaction with your bill or not being provided some type of service and you have been a customer for a good bit they'll more often than not offer you some free stuff or pricing breaks.

Another thing I'll say and try to say objectively as possible is that while Directv does have its flaws (what service doesn't) I do believe it is head and shoulders above Dish and Cable as far as quality, technology,  and customer service and again more often than not (especially in the first year of the service) it's going to be cheaper or right there with the price you are currently paying for a tv package that is most likely inferior.

@TBL ahh man I wish you would've placed the order through me haha, but trust me man you're going to love it!

I can't dispute the first part, that is how it goes sometimes as far as special deals being marketed to new customers, but as far as the washout when it rains I definitely remember that as a kid with the family having Directv but the technology has come such a long way (as long as you had a good installer) you could be watching tv in a monsoon and unless your power goes out there's a 99.9% chance your Directv will be up and running. Charter isn't a bad service at all but if you ever have any problems with it or want to give Direct another try and capitalize on this deal or whatever deal Direct is offering at the time let me know man cause after an eight year absence you would definitely (barring something crazy) qualify as a new customer and be eligible for the offer.

@84forever don't get me wrong, I love Directv and have been a customer for 20 plus years.  My only issue is that Directv offers special deals to new customers only (free NFL Sunday Ticket, premium movie channels, etc..).  IMO, they need to consider rewarding their long standing customers with some freebies as well without having to call and ask for it.  Reward those who have been loyal to their product as well as those they are trying to get to purchase their product.

Funny thing is, the Directv salespersons I talk to always tell me to cancel my service and then sign back up under my wife's name so I can get the freebies as a new customer. Now, why would I want to go through all that trouble when I know that they can just provide me with some incentives anyway.  Canceling my service requires me to return all of their hardware and wait for the new hardware to arrive and get installed, lol.  I'm not excited about that inconvenience after being with Directv for over 20 years.  I think you get my point.

thanks 84forever but i feel screw me once shame on you fool be twice shame on me..lol.. i just have a terrible dislike for direct after my experience before. i actually like Direct but the customer service as i was trying to get the upgrade was horrible not sayin it  isnt better now but i swore i would never go back no matter what(have been happy with charter but if they do the same i would switch back most likely) and ever 3 months they send a letter asking for my return i calmly throwing trash..As to the washout i had that problem ever time it rain back in 2005 he last year i had direct.

@Whos_Ur_Doggie For sure man like I said I'll definitely talk to the people above me and present them with this info (I'm sure it's not the first time they've heard it) and do anything I can to get them to consider doing something for existing customers, but it's like a Chick-fil-a franchise owner talking to corporate about wanting to sell cheeseburgers, in the end I can present them with a good idea but I'm to a degree restrained to whatever they allow me to do.

@bddavidson definitely understandable man like I tell any potential customer if you're happy with what you have and it's satisfying all your needs I recommend you stick with it but if there's something you feel Direct can do better for you then give us a try. You're obviously very happy with Charter man so I'd recommend sticking with it for sure unless something changes!

The promotion is for up to 4 tvs as you'd get the Genie and then (3) genie clients for free (and on a side note the genie has 6 tuners so you could record 5 things while still watching something different and you could record for weeks and not fill up the storage space it's awesome)

If you got Choice programming which I'd recommend Choice or higher cause to be frank the Entertainment package sucks,  you'd pay with all additional fees (like advanced receiver fees and for multiple programming fees) something in the neighborhood of about $62.99 a month for the first 12 months receiving Free 2014 NFL Sunday Ticket Max, a Free Sketch, 3 months free of the movie channels like Starz, HBO, Cinemax, the Genie would be free. Then for the last 12 months of the 2 year contract it would be about $92.99.

As far as the other 2 tvs if you factored them in the bill would go up about $12 a month the only thing is there would be a one time up front fee of about $100 per tv for the genie mini and install but that's just the black and white of it man my sales reps may be able to pull some strings I can't promise anything but they're normally pretty good about finding any loopholes to exploit if there are any possible

***To avoid any confusion I think I worded that kind of weird on the latter part there would only be a charge for the genie mini's on any tv after your fourth tv so you wouldn't be paying $100 per except for the 5th and 6th tv if you wanted a genie mini for those and that would just be an upfront one time cost but for the first four tvs there would be absolutely no fee for the equipment

Most cable/satellite companies have a customer retention department. Regular customer service can't hook you up, but customer retention has the power to do what they want.

It just makes sense for them as a business. You'll get a reasonably good deal if you threaten to cancel, but it will not be as good as the new customer deals. They know that a small percentage of long-standing customers will actually switch companies, making it not worth it for them to offer great discounts. They would just make less profit.
