Let's talk Riley Cooper

Let's talk the pros and cons. All in my humble opinion.

Pros being he has great size, bulk, and physicality for an outside WR making him a great red zone target. He has good hands as he only dropped 3 passes last year. He has deceptive speed as he often beats cbs deep with his long strides on the 9 route. The best thing he has going for him is he's tied to a young qb on the verge of being elite who trusts him. That combined with high up tempo style of Chip Kelly puts him in an ideal situation to maximize his talent. He can still be had for a wr4 price tag.

Cons on film being nearly every catch on his highlight reel is uncontested. I see a wide open wr catching balls against poor or confused defenses, cb's falling down, and underthrown passes. He's an average route runner. Not a big PPR guy. Disappears from the stat sheet from games. Classic boom or bust guy. Over qtr of his yds and 5 of his 8 tds came in back to back games wk9/10. I don't read too much into projecting a full season with Foles as Riley had only 1td and a high of 78 yds over the last 6 games. To me the Jordy Nelson comparison is a stretch, even though Riley's ranked higher on the board. Jordy has all the situational qualities above, with better attributes, more athletic and he makes highly contested catches. Maybe I'm just sour grapes as Riley burned many fantasy owners in wk15 last yr, myself included, with only 29yds(even though Foles threw for 428). Still not sure how that was possible lol.

Good break down. I'm mixed on Cooper. I think with the offense evolving he has a good chance to put up decent numbers. Starting out as a wr3 with a wr2 upside. My question is will there be enough balls to go around. I have a hard time putting him in the pecking order on the offense. There is McCoy, Jackson, Ertz, now we have Maclin back plus Celek still seems to get some. Where is Cooper on this order?

I really like his size, abilities and connection with Foles. Let see if he can translate that into the next level.

Agreed with the mouths to feed in Phi. The cost to acquire him is dirt cheap so even if he underperforms it's not gonna kill you.

Very true. He doesn't cost a lot. Right now he's a hold and wait for his value to rise.

Foles has a nice assortment of weapons to utilizes at his disposal. A Green Bay look alike with a better running game which we can not forget! Everyone on this team is getting a lot love and you have to wonder really how many balls everyone will truly get without being water down passing the ball around this much? Questioning are the worth owning at what expectation WR1 WR2 WR3?
My league is a non PPR 12 person league having a roster of 19 players each. Active roster includes 1Qb 2Rb's 3Wr's 1Te 1K 1Def. Two weeks before draft we cut the roster down to 9 keepers. My team as of now:
QB Russell Wilson, EJ Manuel, Josh Mckown
RB Lamar Miller, Shane Vereen, Zac Stacy, Cierre Wood
WR AJ Green, Julio Jones, Josh Gordon, Andre Johnson, Rueben Randle, Kenny Stills
TE Z Ertz, M. Bennett, Delanie Walker
    DEF Kansas City, Cleveland
    K Steven Hauschka

(I'm not a expert but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night!)

Soo many weapons. Foles will just look for the open guy. Could be djax, maclin, cooper, or ertz

Foles was on pace for 4000+ and 39TDs in weeks 6-17... Seems like enough offense to feed all those mouths. It's DEN 2.0.

At his price I'll buy all day. Maclin or DJax are bound to be injured at some point.

I'll throw some offers out as well to see if I can get him cheap.

I can't help but feel like that OAK game was a fluke. 7 TD passes with 3 to Riley. I think that inflated both their numbers and projections.

I'm trying to scoop him up where I can but I'm not looking to hand over a premium for a possible "flash in the pan" player.

What rookie pick would you part with for Cooper straight up? Maybe a 3rd?

A third? Sure, why not? I'd love to buy at that price, no question.

Lol. I mean that's basically getting him for free.... my bigger question is what pick would you be willing to part with. Could you see yourself moving a high 2nd?

yep. I do it. A 1st rounder, no way, value commands les for Coop, but a 2nd, especially something at least a few picks away from let's say the 2.01 or 2.02, sure!

I just moved the 2.10 for Cooper straight up. Honestly, it's more than I had hoped to pay but I'm pretty happy with the move overall.

I made a deal some may not like but I didn't mind. I dealt Ladarius Green for Cooper. I'm stockin up on WRs after all the injuries my WRs had last year.

Nothing wrong with that. I know many like Green, he could be very good, but it's not buying too high at all. Trading first rounders (even late) or valuing him as a top 40 pick is what I worry about when people read some predictions. I always try and stress how important it is to buy low. this is just fine. Nice work.

Green was a late season waiver claim for me last year so I didn't mind it at all. I love his upside but I still have Jordan Reed and have the best buds Cooper and Foles.
