Great job Smitty. I think a lot of us do some of these things once in a while but not all the time and not all those tactics at once. Its nice to have it broke down like that and great for new comers to dynasty leagues.

Thanks. Yeah, the entire thing isn't to suggest we all don't sometimes use this stuff inside the ebook, but as you said, you kinda never think about focusing on using all the mentioned items (and at once).

The example in the article and the ebook where "You" and "Mike" go at the trade offer, that approach is so overlooked. I have done a lot of trades, and "order of questioning" means everything.

Good read Smitty.  I've used some of your other trade tactics from time to time.  Like sending out mass trade offers to everyone in the league, and repeatedly trading up in the draft.  This example really shows the importance of communication during trade process.  It's often difficult to get a deal done through the basic propose/reject method.

    Thanks @tmoney

yep, it truly is an art, and you need to slow down sometimes. Don't feel you have to get the deal done then. Like buying a car, sometimes you have to say "never mind" and walk away.

One thing I didn't add is that if someone comes to you, make sure you realize that owner would overpay for whatever he is asking for :)

Very true.  It's not often I accept an opening offer without countering for a little bit more in return.  Not many owners put their best foot forward in an opening offer.

Love it Smitty!  The discussion deals seem to come to fruition whereas the offers that are just tossed out get declined without a comment or counter offer.  Myself and FFH have done a few discussion deals and most came down to a actual deal getting done.   :D

The way you explain these trading tactics is just like how you go about asking a girl out! You just don't go right to 3rd base until use lots of Psychological four play to get what you really want.
My league is a non PPR 12 person league having a roster of 19 players each. Active roster includes 1Qb 2Rb's 3Wr's 1Te 1K 1Def. Two weeks before draft we cut the roster down to 9 keepers. My team as of now:
QB Russell Wilson, EJ Manuel, Josh Mckown
RB Lamar Miller, Shane Vereen, Zac Stacy, Cierre Wood
WR AJ Green, Julio Jones, Josh Gordon, Andre Johnson, Rueben Randle, Kenny Stills
TE Z Ertz, M. Bennett, Delanie Walker
    DEF Kansas City, Cleveland
    K Steven Hauschka

    Lol swampies
    Bold Predictions:
Cordarelle Patterson replaces Josh Gordon in the top 5 WR group.
(Julio, Calvin, AJG, CP, and Dez)

Andre Williams proves himself to be the best RB in this class, by having the most productive rookie season of all the rbs.

Ultimately as well...Trade because its fun...If you dont want to be active in the offseason...just want to draft guys and hang onto them forever then stick to redraft because non-active owners bring dynasty leagues down IMO.

Finally read the ebook....great job Smitty...

I feel it have reached an impasse in my dynasty cookie league. It seems everyone is hesitant trading with me.

For example, I offered the R Rice owner B Pierce and the 1.11 for his 2015 1st a few days after Rice's personal issue.

The owner accepted it over 24hrs later. I text him "good trade," and he replied, "I stared at it for the past day trying to find out why you offered this, and trying to find the loophole in your favor."

Any thoughts on how to get rid of this stigmata?

THIS!! I just traded (in my start up) the 1.06, 5.06 and 8.07 for the 2.02 3.11 and 8.02 but the whole time I was talking to this guy, another owner in the league was like "don't do it!! Every time he comes knocking he's trying to screw you"

    Well @emurrell17 @troy_polamalyourass

Honestly, some owners just can't be traded with. Or, the one trick I know is to only try and target guys that have risen up yet, this way he can take your offers that you are sending to him to other owners (and advise it!) and those other owners will confirm that you are not winning out on the deal. In a sense, this owner sounds like he'd like nothing more than to "take you" on a trade, so he might even do a deal he normally wouldn't do just on the advice of others saying, "no, you are beating him on that trade" lol.

So, you just need to buy low.

    Example:

One of the 2 for 1 deals I talk about in the eBook, where you send one better player for two players that aren't quite valued right, but where either player has a shot at salvaging the trade all by themselves (examples: Ben Tate, Victor Cruz, Nick Foles, Zach Ertz).

Dont go getting ripped off, that's not what Im saying, but I've taken significant risk (that i believe in) because i have dealt with similar owners... so I make that owner think they beat me until Tate turns into a Spiller and Cruz or VJax has a big season. Tate is a risky example, but one that could today (if signed) prove genius and worth all the risk. I have landed Tate/Cruz and Tate/VJax and Tate/others using Spiller and other big name players that I think are worth diluting into two players, one RB that can be as good all by himself.

The answer: Make this owner think he is ripping you off, that's the answer. He will jump at the chance by the sounds of his anger. Just don't get ripped off, though! It's called misdirection :)

That was a very very fair trade you gave a ton IMO, I personally don't like trading with what I call Mr college dissertation dude ( CDD) , u know selling every thing they are dealing, I know that's a great tatic just not my bag.

I'm in a bunch of dynasty's and in all of them the CDD is always being questioned fair or not ....

@Smitty let me ask you this:

I'm doing a start up and trying to trade around to get a lot of picks in the 2nd-3rd round range. This is what I have so far
    2.02, 2.07, 3.07, 3.11, 4.06, 6.06, and the rest..

I know you've mentioned this strategy before, would you keep trading up into the 3rd or would you try to turn some of those 3rds into 2nds? But my real question is HOW would you go about that? I don't want to just approach people for the pick I want and scare them off ya know?
