Update on DC >> FFStarters Merge

    Hey all,

Forums Moving To FFS: Just wanted to give a quick update. The forum migration is underway. Not sure if it will take a week or two, but I'd rather not set a target date given it could go either way.

News: The Breaking News Wire should be up before the full merger. Could be a week, could be two, could be shorter or longer. I'd imagine mid-June for both the Forum migration and News being launched is a safe timeframe, but note that delays aren't expected, but could happen.

Content: Sorry about not having a ton of Articles posted since the merger, been busy with merging efforts, but cranked one out just yesterday (Top 25 Players with a hardcore dynasty stance).

DC Subscriptions bought before June 1: You will have access to FFStarters content by roughly mid-June, and you will continue to get DC content updates as usual until the merger is complete. Once the merger is complete, DC updates will no longer occur, EVERYTHING after that will be posted on FFStarters (where our forum will be).

FFStarters Access: Again, those early DC buyers will get access in June sometime, probably mid-June.

DraftCalc Updates Moving Forward: Again, it will be business as usual on DraftCalc until the merger is fully complete, sometime in June, hopefully mid-June. Once complete, no more updates will occur on DraftCalc, all content/updates/ and our forum will be over at FFStarters.com. We will eventually redirect to FFStarters.

Again, I cannot stress this enough. More content than ever is on the way, once this merger is complete, you have me posting news daily, and that's on top of writing content (like Upside Board stuff, Articles just like that one I just posted here on DC, rankings)... and of course, you have all of the STARTERS Analyzer stuff. Content is going to be richer than ever, so get ready.

But the forum will be the same right? Like it's not going to be formatted differently right?
    Bold Predictions:
Cordarelle Patterson replaces Josh Gordon in the top 5 WR group.
(Julio, Calvin, AJG, CP, and Dez)

Andre Williams proves himself to be the best RB in this class, by having the most productive rookie season of all the rbs.

    @emurrell17

Same forum, the stats and your post counts, the plan is all to keep that untouched. Just carry it over. The look and feel of the 'content' (like the articles, etc) will change, as we are heading into the FFS site, but the forum will look the same (different colors possibly), but same navigation, feel, same product. Yep.

    Question to all:

As far as the news, what would you like to see in the news that you can't find in other news wires, or at least, you don't find enough? Is it "dynasty" angles?

Here is a taste of the format... How is this for format, you guys liking this kind of info for each news post?

NEWS: Ray Rice looking at a three-game suspension?
POSTED BY SMITTY  · SATURDAY, MAY 24TH, 2014
According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, NFL Insiders indicated on Friday that Ray Rice could be looking at three-game suspension (possibly longer) resulting from his recent assault charge. “They’re [Ravens] preparing for him to miss, I think, at least three games,” Mortensen said.

SMITTY: Honestly, everyone is in “guess mode” with this situation, which includes the length of Rice’s suspension, as well as how Kubiak will utilize his other runners should Rice face a suspension. However, the Rice/Pierce duo is a relatively-undervalued RB2 heading into 2014, and Pierce has some strong dynasty appeal all by himself; the Ravens also recently inked rookie rusher Lorenzo Taliaferro. If forced to take a stab at this guessing game, I’m going to say that Rice misses at least weeks 1 and 2, and I’ll also predict that Pierce has a very strong start to the season, which will make it tough for Kubiak to take Pierce off the field upon Rice’s return. Now, Pierce struggled last year, but so did every other running back in Baltimore, which also needs to be considered if you’re in the camp that feels Rice is no longer capable of elite fantasy numbers. Under Kubiak, that Baltimore rushing attack will be much improved… it should produce, it’s just a matter of steering through this unpredictable situation. If it weren’t for Rice’s recent off-the-field issues, I think we’d be looking at a big bounce-back candidate. Things are what they are, though, and the situation has opened the door for the ultra-talented Pierce, who is capable of top 5-10 fantasy running back numbers per start. Forget about last year, Pierce is that good! Navigate through this situation carefully, though, and only do "buying" and "investing" (in terms of the BAL running backs) on the “cheap”. If you can get the Rice/Pierce combo at a cost that is less than a mediocre RB2, I think the risk is minimal and the upside is huge. Looks good! Will there be a section included where questions can be placed-and-answered? Like posting a comment...It was mentioned yesterday that Rice was close to 20 pounds over weight last year, and is reporting this year close to the 206 he weighed in college. Do you think the explosion will return based on the weight loss?

I recommend a start/sit section answered by you (if paid subscriber) "ask Smitty"
Forum section start/sit answered by the nation for free.

Might get more subscribers if that's the case.

Who to start or sit is 1/2 the battle in ff.

    IDP info will help out.

I like the format you have shown above. As far as content I agree a little more IDP information would be nice and also some long term dynasty news. I think once the season gets started there is plenty of news for what is going on now and how it affects this season but it would be nice to get more of a dynasty feel to the news.

Question about how to join FFStarters.com.  Do we register under a free account and then the administrators enable the content for us subscribers, or does it all get transferred from here under our forum username here?

@scorp Just wait until the merger. You will have access once the merger is complete. Just sit tight.

The news won't be IDP geared yet.  I hope it gets there eventually, no doubt, but at first, it will be offensive only.

Even though the news won't be IDP geared, I am going to try and get a lot more IDP stuff this year (rankings, articles, etc).

We should have 'comments' attached to start bench articles, yep.

We are considering a few options, but comments should be attached to each article.

I'd like to see a little more emphasis on some deep sleepers and prospects for those of us playing in 12x28+ leagues.

Of course, super deep sleepers aren't discussed much because the hit rate on them is very small. These types of players don't even make up a fraction of the players that are fantasy relevant. Maybe just a few names every week or two that are super deep players to keep an eye on.
    2014 predictions

(3/16) Toby Gerhart will have 1400 total yards and 8TDs
(3/16) Cobb will outscore Allen in PPR

I'll keep this in mind. With news, deep names will certainly pop up more, even and especially within a news post about a bigger name player (talking about the backups breathing down that player's neck, etc.).

This looks great Smitty. I like the format for the news wire and others have presented great ideas of added content, so I don't have anything to add there. One question I do have is future cost. I'm subscribed for 2014, but what is the expected price tag for all of this content in 2015? And if you don't yet, that's fine too. I was just curious how much to allocate in my budget.

Getting pumped about the merger Smitty and love the fact the forum will be untouched too, why fix something that's purrs like a kitten. I think something that could be added Smitty you should have a note icon next to the players name thru out the site that when clicked on brings you right to your breaking news for that player. Whether it's a injury related or something news worthy. Great job by the way, again can't wait.
My league is a non PPR 12 person league having a roster of 19 players each. Active roster includes 1Qb 2Rb's 3Wr's 1Te 1K 1Def. Two weeks before draft we cut the roster down to 9 keepers. My team as of now:
QB Nick Foles, Russell Wilson, Josh McCown
RB Lamar Miller, Shane Vereen, Zac Stacy, Cierre Wood
WR AJ Green, Julio Jones, Josh Gordon, Rueben Randle, Kenny Stills
TE Z Ertz, M. Bennett, Delanie Walker
    DEF Kansas City, Cleveland
    K Steven Hauschka
