Mason said today that STL coaches said he has a legitimate opportunity to win the RB1 job......... this year. Any chance he has a real shot or is it simply motivational coach speak?

I would say Stacy is more likely to with the job, but I do think Mason will get a fair shot.
    2014 Bold Predictions (PPR):
    1. Alfred Morris will be a top 5 RB (4/21/14)
    2. Jeremy Hill will be the #1 rookie RB (6/01/14)

I think it's all coach speak right now. Give it a month or two and will see if it's the same tune.

BPA, that's why. Vikings had Chester Taylor who just got his first 1000 yard season. Then AP landed on their laps in the draft. Do you blame them?

Should be a competition between these two and don't forget Cunningham. Imo it will be Stacy as lead and rotate mason Cunningham for #2

Anyone is open to starting week 1, especially when the starter list year couldn't break 4ypc.
    My 2013 Predictions:
    [:(] C.J. Spiller Will Be The #1RB(Jan 9th)
[XXX] Demaryius Thomas will be the #1 scoring WR!(Feb 13th)
[XXX] Trent Richardson will NOT finish as a Top 10 RB!(June 4th)
    [:(] Rob Housler will be a Top 5 TE in 2013!(July 18th)
[XXX] Josh Gordon will put up a 80/1200/10 stat line in just 14 Games!(Sept 5th)

Because they had already drafted three players previously and filled their more pressing needs.   Why not attempt to improve at RB which was, in fact, a sore spot for the Rams last season (Though that was hardly Stacy's fault)...   Perhaps they'd like a better back-up?   Maybe they don't feel like Cunningham is the shiz- nit like everyone here seems to think?    They already canned Richardson and Pead has had one foot out the door for a year and a half now.....  So......    Yeah, why not draft a RB?
NON-PPR, 6pt TD Pass, Return Yards Count, Start 1-3 RBs
QB - Brees, RG III, Cousins
    RB - L Bell, Z Stacy, A Brown
WR - Marshall, J Nelson, Jeffrey, R Cooper, Hopkins, Harvin, D Rogers, G Whalen
    TE - J Cook, K Rudolph
    K - Bailey, Dawson
    D - Seattle, NY Jets

Agreed, they have a nice roster except at WR right now.  BPA made sense.  I doubt Mason gets handed the rb1 job.

I'd pick up both Stacy and Mason....good competition could bring out a solid RB1 over there in STL

Yeah, I can agree with this...   But even at WR they've got players that I think they just need to sort out (Austin, Bailey, Givens, Quick, Pettis, Britt) ...

I think we see a RBBC, but the split is hard to tell and who will get the majority is difficult to say as well....   We do know that, especially as a rookie, Mason is going to be handicapped on 3rd downs unless he learns to pass protect....

IMO, I see a 70/30 split in Stacy's favor this season at least...

    (Britt)
    Bold Predictions:
Cordarelle Patterson replaces Josh Gordon in the top 5 WR group.
(Julio, Calvin, AJG, CP, and Dez)

Andre Williams proves himself to be the best RB in this class, by having the most productive rookie season of all the rbs.

Mason will be the 3rd best back in St. Louis - Cunningham ultimately the best, unless the coaches don't give Cunningham or Stacy a fair shake

    BAM!!!

    THIS!!!

Wow...maybe we are the same person in some lights ;-)

I was all over Cunningham before last year, then all he does is look great when given opportunities...the guy is the complete package. Watch out.

I like Stacy, he is the "solid if not spectacular" maxim to a T, and he is a hardworking character guy. But the best combo of physical gifts, and actual ability is Cunningham to me.

For sure, I kind of sucks because Stacy is a very very solid back, but Cunningham has star written all over him and it shows on the field. In the real world the Rams are stoked, in Fantasy what a mess. Mason is likely going to challenge for 3rd down duty with the other two sharing the load on early downs, although any of them can do all 3 but Cunningham the overall most complete.

Agreed on ALL points...problem is Mason is not skill-wise suited to be a 3rd down back.
