  1. Keep in mind I won’t be answering “do i start player A or B” questions in the comments here, as it’s all up above in the projections :) but feel free to drop your trade questions below! Good luck to everyone in Week 8!

    • Smitty,

Not a trade question, but who would you spend a waiver wire selection on: Mike James of TB or Chris Ivory of NYJ? Who do you value more for the rest of the season?

      Thanks.

      • Mike James, but man, what happened to Ivory? Well, of course we know, the Jets happened. It wouldn’t shock me if we now see the Ivory we all thought would emerge in Week 1, so it’s not an easy call, but James feels more for sure, for now. That can change fast. Post this on the forums with a poll (just added that feature so you can get lots of votes going on!).

  2. Hey Smitty. Need some trade advice. I’m 2-5 and need a RB this week. Khiry Robinson and Brandon Bolden are on the WW. I have Lamar, David Wilson, Vereen, T Rich, C Michael. WR’s are Dez, Gordon, K Allen, A Jeffrey. Would you trade Josh Gordon for L Bell? Or who would you target for a RB?

    • Tough call. If dynasty, I don’t make any crazy deals. Not so sure Bell is worth as much as Gordon, but Bell still has a lot to prove, so his value could increase. I think Gordon has more value. If redraft, tough spot… I think I’d shop Gordon for sure, but you need to get back a runner that can really help you win now, with no question marks. And, those backs are tough to buy, as very few runners have been reliable this year, and most aren’t trading them. Let me know if it’s redraft or dynasty, then I’ll attack the question more aggressively. Robinson is the FA I’d grab, but that’s near even.

      • Hi Smitty. Thanks for the response. The league I am in is a 4 keeper league. So I would imagine Bell or Gordon would be one of my 4 keepers. Right now I’m thinking I keep Dez, Julio, T Rich, and either Gordon, Vereen or Bell if I trade for him. A lot can change of course. Thanks for all of your help.

  3. Hey Smitty, in a twelve team dynasty ppr. Have a compete now team with, Cam, Foster, Reggie Bush, Deangelo, Stewert, demaryus, Jordy Nelson, Blackmon, Jeffery and Jimmy Graham. Don’t have a ton of solid depth for future other than lattimore. Used depth in trades to strengthen top end. A guy in my league wants Blackmon badly and been after him. He has Keenan Allen whom I have interest in. How much value does Blackmon have beyond Allen? Advice?

    • Way more. Not that Allen can’t get there, as Blackmon had mediocre value through the start of this season as he sat out on suspension… then he exploded in value. But, still, I don’t know where to begin, that’s how far off it is to me. Upgrade a Reggie Bush to a top 5RB, that’s the kind of move we’re talking. One for one, man, I’d say a Doug Martin if you were not playing for this year, but at least a Lacy at RB if we’re talking now and future. Past that, he is so strong as a WR, I only use him to upgrade a Jordy into an AJ Green or something, but many might even say no way to that. Don’t undervalue Blackmon. Nice team, excellent drafting.

    • That’s a tough one. Moreno looks good now, but you have to wonder what he will look like fantasy wise this time next year, and I like Martin, despite his rough year, more than VJax. I think I take the Martin side, but I can’t say it’s a super easy call due to Moreno. Post this on a poll on the forums (at the bottom of the topic when you create it, it’s a check box) and I think you could get some good reactions from the community. This one deserves a couple more opinions.

  5. Smitty, can you give your thoughts on Mike James. I saw him play week 2 in the preseason against the Patriots and he looked electric! Granted it was against 2nd teamers in the preseason. With the struggles Martin had behind that line, the Bucs out of the playoff hunt, and the possibility of Martin coming back for the fantasy playoffs, should I use my #1 waiver priority on James? I’m in a 12-team redraft non-ppr and my current rbs are Lacy and Ridley, but I have Vereen, Franklin, J.Bell, and Andre Brown on my roster. I find it hard to think I’d be starting him over Lacy and Ridley now, harder still I’d start him over Lacy, Vereen, and Andre Brown when they come back shortly. Should I add him for the potential fantasy playoffs where I may start James week 14 BUF, or week 16 STL? I’m leaning towards hanging onto my waiver priority for the BIG ONE (C.Michael, Bryce Brown, M.Ball, ect). Thanks as always

    • I wonder if Hillis with Brown helps you a bit more (assuming if Hillis is available, that is), but if Martin ends up being out for the year, that is a solid addition. But, he plays CAR and SEA in back to back weeks coming up, so if Martin misses just a few games (unlikely, but possible), you have James for two tough weeks. It’s darn close, but, I think Brown starts once back, unless Wilson is healthy, but I doubt that… so go James. That’s if you decide to make a move this week on the wire. Yeah, waiting for that home run can pay off in a major way, or you can wait all year and never get a shot. Tough call. Clearly I can’t predict if a Michael or Brown will get in there, and that is the kind of move/land that has a HUGE impact. Tough to predict, though.

  6. Smitty,
Please tell he what you think of sproles for the rest of the year ?

    • Nothing stands out more than usual. He isn’t a first rounder, or a second, but he can finish with top 12-14RB numbers in a PPR format. Solid and steady.

  7. Thanks for your thoughts Smitty. After researching the local tampa talk, there’s some thought that Schiano is the one pushing for Doug Martin to be back because his future there is tied to them getting wins. This echos with my thoughts that there’s no reason to rush the future of the franchise back when the season is already lost. I bet Martin get’s IR’d. Gonna pull the trigger and pickup James. Thanks!

    • No problem. Yeah, it’s always tough using that “No. 1″ waiver claim. You always wait too long, or jump on it too early, that’s the way it goes some years.

  8. Smitty,
Contemplating trading Sproles for A Jeffery.
With Cutler out, is this a useless move or would the upside win?

    • In a PPR, Sproles might have more value. I guess in dynasty, I consider it, but Sproles is the safe move. But, of course all this depends on team need, and who you have to fill the spots.

  9. Hey smitty I’m thinking of flexing Ellington or khiry over jordan cameronin flex… standard non ppr because I have like 5byes . Does ellington get a big bump in your opinion if mendenhall doesn’t play?? And if you thought 3 of your players were gonna score the same amount like I am here..7is where i see these guys getting… do u normally play the safest move or do you make the fancy play.

    • You’d think Ellington would see a huge bump, but will AZ be out of the contest before the third quarter even begins? Still, Ellington catches passes. This is a tough one. Post a poll on our forums (using our new poll posting feature located via a check box at the bottom of creating a topic).

Khiry is the TD guy, probably capable of 100 and a score on rare occasion, but more like 20-30 and a strong shot to score? I think Pierre Thomas makes it hard for NO to actually give him enough carries for big yardage, but that could change during any given game if Khiry had a hot hand. NO rolls with that kinda think, so that’s why I say he is capable of a big game, but having him in your fantasy line up the week he does that, that is the tough part.

Ellington is probably the best bet, but post that poll!
