2014: A New Year with New situations!

So the season is finally wrapped up, and we've have had a few days to nurse our wounded pride (congrats if you weren't one of us needing to do that).

Even though we have to wait till February for Smitty's breakdowns, I think we can do some of our own offseason thinking and scouting. So I'm going to bring back up some guys that got lost in the shuffle this year that may land in better situations...I mean situations can make all the difference right? Let's talk about guys that are potential free agents and which ones are most likely to get some help from a change in scenery.

Some names to get us started are:

      Chris Johnson
      Jay Cutler
      Kenny Britt
      Hakeem Nicks

      Chris Johnson

I don't know that I trust Chris Johnson in any situation...he seems like a very selfish and stubborn player, unwilling to take a look in the mirror...I also don't know how much of an improvement can be made to his offensive line. I DO however think, that if Johnson leaves, and another star rb is not drafted, that it could be very good for the stocks of people like Justin hunter and Kendall wright.

      Jay Cutler

The situation can't get much better than it already is. Sure the offensive line is lacking, but the weapons don't come any faster and bigger than those that live in Chicago. I think if you are a cutler fan, you are hoping he stays put.

      Kenny Britt

The qb situation sucks where he is...but so does he. But the name of the game is investing when stock is low and hoping to see it skyrocket, and even if you don't like britt, he definitely has the potential to become more popular to the fantasy football community with a new city on the horizon. For that reason, I don't think there is anything wrong with investing at his current price...aka- dirt cheap.

      Hakeem Nicks
I'm not a fan personally, but nothing is going right in NY..no matter if he leaves or stays, I expect he offense that he is going to be in to feature a little more of...well...offense in general, which can't hurt nicks. He's kind of in the same boat as Kenny britt, though Nicks' boat has a lot less holes in it.

If you have comments on the players above or have someone else you'd like to bring up, feel free to share your thoughts.

Cj not a fan he is selfish emurrel

Britt has all the talent but for whatever reason titans are the best at getting the least out of there players.he has stayed of trouble for quite some time landing spot is everything
Nicks i expect him to get fully healthy for once this offseason and get some juice back in those legs..his qb sucked this year too

Culter needs to stay but could end up in TN

      nice post

my gut says chris johnsons value increases next year...still has his speed...can catch...just needs a new team

jay cutler...destined to that player that is a way better real qb then fantasy qb...people are down on him but I can see 10 teams that should be thrilled to land him

Kenny britt...see my posts 4 years ago...see my posts 3 years ago....see my posts 2 years ago...dude is a bad apple....WASTE OF TALENT

I like hakeem nicks...I know the he really struggled...but the entire giants team struggled...ill be buying at this cheap price this offseason wherever I can

Better buy before he gets a new team! Even people that hate him will find a reason to love him when he gets a new logo on his helmet

I can see cj being a decent rb 2 next year. I actually wouldn't mind trying to buy him at a low price in anticipation of his new team.reviving his career.

Britt....yeah I'll never own him. No reason to imo

Cutler. He's not that great a qb. As a bears fan I see him make too many mistakes. I feel the bears know he will never lead them to a superbowl so why give him a contract or waste a tag on him? They should start new in the draft and let tressman develop someone. I do agree Cutler will wind up starting for another team. He just won't be fantasy relevant.

Nicks: even with the giants sucking this year, nicks has a history of being inconsistent. He will get hyped up big time when he signs with another team and then fall back to the same ok stuff. I'll probably avoid buying him but this is the perfect opportunity to sell

Chris Johnson - If I have him I'm trying to cash out if I could get a 1st in 2014 or 1st in 2015 or early 2nd in 2014, heck even a 1st in 2016, I take it. A speed back that will be 29 early in the 2014 season and with a new team. I highly doubt he lands a feature back role and CJ with a mix of declining skills and lack of desire seems all but done to me. He may have a few more flashes left in him but really how much of a market is a declining 29 year old back going to have and what teams out there would even feature him as the better part of a committee? I guess if I couldn't get a 1st in the '14-'16 range or early 2014 2nd I just ride him off into the sunset but I wouldn't expect anything more than a flex if he's gone from Tennessee which he most likely will be.

Jay Cutler - If Chicago resigns him and he gets to continue to work with Trestman and those weapons he's a sneaky mid-low end QB1 to me and I'd have no problem with him as my starter. If he leaves Chicago he drops to QB2 range, Tennessee would be a nice landing spot with their young weapons but nothing like Chicago.

Kenny Britt - No one would even deal a 7th rounder for him at trade deadline so I expect the free agent market to not be too kind to the freak athlete. All it takes is one team though and I'd like to think his lack of a free agent market and down season in Tennessee will be a wake up call for him. I'm still a Britt fan and think the career revival is possible I could see Britt getting a shot in Baltimore, Miami, or Detroit. Bottom line I'd take a shot on him for a late 2nd or anything less.

Hakeem Nicks - Really expect him to get a one year prove it deal from Carolina or Detroit. I know he hasn't looked great this year but I refuse to believe the 26 year old's skill set has really declined this much so fast. I like him as a bounce back strong WR2 in either situation and if the price is right I'm buying. Would love him in Carolina as their new number one.

Any thoughts on Danario Alexander for 2014 any chance he can make it back to form after yet another knee surgery and what are some potential landing spots or do the Chargers bring him back? On waivers in majority of leagues I'd imagine but a solid ceiling if he can get back to his '12 form although that's probably a long shot

I have him stashed on IR.  In all honesty I fully expect him to retire or be a shell of his former self.  But I got him for nothing off waivers so if I get anything out of him it's a major bonus.  I'm assuming the Chargers will sign him for a cheap one year deal if he does keep playing.

Ben Tate - - I have drafted him in a few leagues on the cheap this year, hoping he got a good landing spot in 2014, Foster carries way to big a number for Texas to sign Tate for reasonable money.

He's got size, talent, and some decent vision.  He also carries injury potential, but I'm hoping for a good landing spot and a shot at a starting role...  Could be a top 8-15 RB for a few years given the right team signs him, could also linger in the RB25-30 range he's been stuck in behind Foster if he lands another back-up or time share where he's not the 3 down back that he is capable of.

Only in the league because he's in the last year of his rookie deal. He has talent, no question about that...but so does Titus Young.
