Just got an offer of Brandon Spikes (year 3 of 5 extendable to 7 at $2.1) + 5th rounder for Curtis Lofton (Year 5 of 5, free agent at end of year at $3.5).
I'm really thinking of not doing this. It's hard to gage Spikes value. Obviously Lofton is better for this year, but is Spikes worth investing in for the future? I liked him a lot coming out of college.

mmm...Brandon Spikes...suspended four games as a rookie, lost half of 2011 and most of this year to knee (ankle - 2011) injuries...though he did manage to come back briefly this preseason he's back watching from the sidelines.
Worth it, yes ...as long he no longer gives interviews with his helmet and visor on... ;)
His upside as a full time starter is LB2 territory.
Spikes is an inside linebacker, Davis plays outside and Manning (guessing it's Terrell) seems ticketed for the inside. Scoring? Tackle heavy/balanced/big play?
Starting 3 LBs you seem set with Willis, Washington, Lofton and Cushing. Spikes would add depth for this year and beyond if he stays healthy but you have three good rooks, it could be a lateral move to acquire him. Pick him up off waivers or as a throw in but you are set for no, imo.

I think our scoring is balanced: tackle = 1, assist = .5, TFL = 1, Sack = 3, INT = 4, PD = 2, FFUM = 3, FREC = 2 + minimal fumble and INT yard bonus'. TD's = 6
Yes, that Manning is Terrell.
I agree with your analysis on Spikes as far as on and off the field. The fact the he'll be playing in Middle is what intreagues me. The only problem is, he most likely will not play on passing downs. If I knew he'd be on the field all the time, this would be a no-brainer. And I agree I am set at LB for this year, but I am always thinking of now and the future. And since I will lose Lofton at the end of this year and I don't absolutely need him, I am looking to aquire something for him rather than nothing. I just e-mailed the owner back and said increase the level of draft pick and we may have a deal.
