Usually ultra-talented backs are UDFAs.... Didn't ya know?
(Someone will throw Crowell out there, but he's a....... special case.....)

A special case like Arian Foster? Priest Holmes?
Difference is these guys all went undrafted (along with Crowell) due to character concerns (injury factored in for Foster but he was railroaded by the TU staff) mixed in with a little lack of foresight....pretty sure Holmes won the Doak Walker award that year too (not gonna check, hope I remember correctly lol).
Those three guys went to Tennessee, Texas, Georgia respectively, powerhouses.
Cunningham went to Middle Tennessee St. and I think less exposure factored in.
Something that is really hard to factor for us fantasy folks without knowing somebody is "HOW BAD DO THEY WANT IT?"....are they going to be first in, last out, eat right, not go clubbing, not abuse drugs etc etc etc
Something I don't do enough but like to do is watch interviews when I can, watch personal workouts, try and get a feel for a player. Cunningham is one of those guys i just think has IT. The dude works VERY hard.
And that was just a couple examples of great backs, the list of studs to go undrafted is pretty long....
I guess we can sarcastically and condescendingly say that usually players drafted later turn out better too....but this slope is slippery enough as is :-)
DAXstatic said:stacy was the better rb last season. he could find holes that weren't obvious to the other rams rbs, cunningham included. the only problem with stacy was that he always seemed to get nicked up during games and couldn't finish them off. now that the rams drafted grob and with saffold on the other side the bigger holes they will create may make cunningham the better rb, especially since he is now two years removed from his knee surgery. however mason muddies the water and he may be the main man by the end of the season.

The only problem with Stacy is those magic holes that only he could find only have him 3.9ypc. Maybe they weren't such good holes to begin with??

yeah but in the last few weeks of the season they played their nfc west defenses and with clemens at qb they went all out to stop stacy and he barely made 1 ypc in those games i think.
