DefiantVitreous said:More well rounded or not is an opinion and the jury is still out. However, there are several things that are facts. They are:
- Zac Stacy isn't going anywhere and at the very least even if Mason claims the job towards the end of the season, Stacy will still handle short yardage and goal line carries.
- Freeman really doesn't have any competition for carries once SJax goes (very shortly).
- Freeman is a better pass blocker.
- Yes, who they play 6 times per year. Seattle, SF and Arizona are all top defenses. That still matters. It matters even more when using it as a tie breaker between two similar players. When Mason goes to Seattle and Freeman goes to New Orleans, there will be numerous- and rightfully so- number WDIS questions revolving around benching Mason...not benching Freeman.
Taking into consideration what we do know, why would anyone want to take the risk on the one thing that the jury is still out on?

NO is a D-Line and a little depth away from SEA.

Which is a crap ton! U can't just find or put together a great D-line, which may be the most important part of the D, overnight. Also, getting and keeping quality depth isn't easy either. I'm not here to say the Saints D is poop, but they're no Seattle.

From what I see and hear in OTA Freeman is a terrible pass blocker and it is an issue. Hard to hype him up taking advantage of throwing game if they don't trust him in there when they throw. I'm with BMX on this they will get a better big back next year and then Freeman will fall behind this new guy. Only way ATL can use Freeman is if they send him out every pass play and their OLine isn't that good.
Rams OLine is going to surprise. I can't wait to watch them handle the division. :)

So NO isn't going to decline with age, but all others will? I know that isn't what you mean, but that is how it comes across. Plus, Seattle has the 4th YOUNGEST starters on defense, so I'm not sure your point holds much water. http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcwest/post/_/id/100354/average-age-rankings-for-projected-starters
