Then, when he saw Franklin falling, he felt he had to move up to get him if the price was right. It may be nothing, but him trading back when grabbing Lacy and then aggressively trading up for Franklin after drafting Lacy was a little strange. It's as if he was almost second-guessing his Lacy pick or had something else in mind (trade?) for Lacy when moving up to grab Franklin. Could all be idle speculation, but I will say I'm pleased that my Pack might finally have a decent running game.

The thing to remember is that Lacy is used to running through the Fulda Gap. The Pack's OL sucks generally, and is only marginally ok when both Bulaga and Sitton are healthy. With the 2 of them moving to the left side (neither are well suited in my opinion) that is going to mean that speed will end up being pretty important, and Franklin has loads of it. Lacy doesn't.
Steelers passed on Lacy due to the toe and because of somewhat underdeveloped and inconsistent hands, route running, and blocking. Franklin could end up taking over sooner than people realize. Remember, that team revolves around Rodgers, not the running game, so the better blocker with more consistent hands is going to be very tempting. That's not a "grind it out" offense. Lacy's obviously going to get the goal line work, but when McCarthy was OC for the Aints, Deuce McAllister ended up with 47, 69, adn 34 receptions in the 3 seasons before he got injured, and before that, Ricky Williams had 44 and 60 receptions. He gets to the Packers 2 years later, and Ahman Green has 46 receptions, and a team with Brett Favre, the ultimate gunslinger, hucks it to the RB 90 times.
McCarthy WANTS to throw to the RB. He wanted desperately for Brandon Jackson to stay healthy so he could release lead-handed Ryan Grant but it just didn't happen.
If Lacey gets injured, don't be surprised if McCarthy really lets Lacey take his time healing.
