Travis Kelce

This guy went a couple picks before my 2.07 (16-teamer) in my recent rookie draft. Really was hoping he would fall to me. Check out these reviews, and some highlights. Guy has a mean streak. I think he's going to challenge Eifert for best TE in this class:

Hoping to grab him in the 3rd in my 2te league

He just went 3.01 in my 2 te league.

He's more of a natural run blocker than a natural pass catcher.

This guy is lighting up Chiefs camp blocking and catching. A twitter search reveals drooling onlookers, scouts, and beat writers.

Yup, Heard nothing but great things about him in Camp.. Glad I took him in my Start 2TE league.

I LOVE him

andy reids offenses don't breed GREAT TE production, just ok. so his uppside is limited by the play calling. also kc's line is bad, even with fischer so staying in to block is gonna be a necessity for him. I am always leery of guys who blow it up at camp in half speed practices..junkie is right he is a better blocker than a pass catcher.

Alex Smith turned Vernon into a star. He likes throwing to his safety valve. So it's out of Andy's hands - if Kelce is that good then they can't afford not to use him because on receiving its only Bowe out there.

Bingo. Teams usually find a way to utilize their best talent, and the best talent usually finds a way to be utilized.

As for him being a better Run blocker then a pass catcher?? Well sure, but that's not saying he's a bad pass catcher, he's just a REALLY REALLY good run blocker...

Also he finished 3rd in TDs for TEs and 1st in Yards/Catch for all TEs over 30 Catches... 4th in receiving yards for all TEs... so he can catch

Being a good blocker is a great point. Should mean he will find his way into the lineup.

Thats some pretty good research. celek also had another pretty good year(not as good as that one) and chad lewis had a pretty good year under reid once too.

3 out of 14 years of pretty good te production isn't exactly a good track record. if alex smith doesn't throw the ball where power hungry andy wants it alex smith won't be playing for very long. Alex smith is still alex smith and he sucks, so i can't wait to see how this train wreck ends when andy has him passing 40 times a game.

Fixed that for you. So I'm supposed to ignore all these reports of him making highlight-reel catches in practice because these practices are 'half speed' and I'm supposed to ignore his college tape because it was against inferior competition. So how do you evaluate a player? Magic 8 ball?

Yes, Eifert looks more like a 'classic' tight end and has a pretty nice game. But I'm pretty sure that Kelce would beat him up and take his lunch money. In the NFL, I think this matters. Kelce also looks better after the catch, and we know that he is a ferocious run blocker, meaning that he doesn't have to come off the field and can be used more effectively on screen passes.

Matt Waldman picked Kelce over Eifert as well

So many players fail that scouts think will be good based of college tape. so many players are also awesome and have great college tape. it's a crap shoot. I only evaluate nfl talent against other nfl talent in real games, that is the only true way to evaluate these guys. I'm not saying kelce gonna be wack, I'm just giving you something to ponder. I'd much rather pick up a cameron or a housler, than a kelce til I can see him line up in an nfl game.

I got ya. Rookies are definitely high-risk, high-reward. I've been backing Cameron, but I'm not liking the reports of him losing one-on-one battles in camp. I might try to sell him on the hype. I think I like Housler better at this point.

Maybe he can beat him up...but Tyler is hands down the better pass catcher... lol...that was pretty funny though
