  In the wake of Michael Crabtree's Achilles tendon surgery. The coaching staff intends to give the 49ers' young receivers a chance instead. Jim Harbaugh said he does not think WR Michael Crabtree (Achilles') will miss the entire 2013 regular season. As we all know he's not a doctor nor are all of us. So I'm not to sure about that being the case. It is going to be tough for a receiver to return from this type of injury before the season is over.
  So with AJ Jenkins who was a red shirt rookie that was sitting most of the season because of Harbaugh not inclined in playing rookies their first year. Do you see AJ Jenkins getting a shot to be that sleeper WR that was just waiting in the wings for a chance like this one?
  

  My league is a non PPR 12 person league having a roster of 19 players each. Active roster includes 1Qb 2Rb's 3Wr's 1Te 1K 1Def. Two weeks before draft we cut the roster down to 9 keepers. My team as of now:
  QB Russell Wilson, EJ Manuel, Jason Campbell
  RB Lamar Miller, Shane Vereen, Zac Stacy, Knowshon Moreno
  WR AJ Green, Julio Jones, Josh Gordon, Rueben Randle, Robert Woods, Kenny Stills
  TE J Reed, M. Bennett
  DEF Kansas City
  K Adam Vinatieri
  
  (I'm not a expert but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night!)

  i actually used the crabtree injury as a sell high for aj jenkins -- gave jenkins, received 2014 2nd

  
  

  i just don't see jenkins evolving to keep the job and have dynasty relevance.  Crabtree will be back eventually and i don't see jenkins on the field with him as the complimentary WR2.

  His asking price has had to have gone up. Not sure how much. That whole wr corp is very muddy for me right now.

  Ricardo Lockette is somebody to keep an eye on.  Great measurables, lived with Kaepernick this offseason, and received glowing praise out of nowhere from Harbaugh a month or so back.  Deep sleeper potential.

  I don't know if that was selling high IMO, but I do think its a good time to buy. SF hasn't missed with very many licks and they spent a first rounder on Jenkins. They knew he was raw and needed time to devlope. I'd probably buy low if you could.

  The time to buy is over I think.  You are probably going to end up paying to much if you buy right now.  2014 second though - that's not too bad.  

  
  

  I watched a little tape on Jenkins...he's not bad.  Has good hands, good speed.  Very productive his senior year.  I think he'll win that role on the outside and surprise a bit.

  How many 1st-round WRs are there yearly? 2-3? Aside from the AJ Green & Julio Jones of the world, wideouts need 2-3 years, and you are trading one with 4.4 speed for a 2014-2? I will gladly give a next-year's 2nd for a previous year's 1st round choice EVERY TIME. 

  I'm with winonemore all day on this one...

  In fairness, Jenkins was a 3rd round rookie pick in our 2012 draft. There are probably 10 rookie WRs in the 2013 fantasy draft that I would take ahead of Jenkins -- which makes him late 2nd/early 3rd value to me in 2013. I like the 2014 prospects better so I value a 2014 2nd higher than 2013.
  
  If Jenkins gets the starting nod and performs at a WR3 or better level, then I agree I sold low -- I just don't see Jenkins doing that

  Boldin easily is the #1 this year. And I am not sure they bring in somebody or have a guy like Manningham as the 2nd WR

  I love jenkins ans the fact the coach supported him as a  rookie in debate only supports him. Ill take a former 1st roujd selesction over patton

  I'm going with Jenkins. They don't use a 1st round pick on a guy to leave him on the bench. Plus Jenkins seems to really understand that he has to work to improve. Reports I've seen have him really trying to improve his game this off-season.

  Vernon Davis benefits the most from this injury. I think Jenkins has a shot to produce good flex numbers, but not much more then that.  Sell high if you can, I think you could have gotten a bit more then a 2nd Rick, but i'd take it.

  Regardless where he was projected, he was selected in the 1st. They are going to give him a shot. They aren't going to waste a 1st rd pick sitting on the bench. Patton will have to out play him significantly to get the spot.

  Part of the key to fantasy football is to figure out which management groups to trust...SF has earned that trust in my opinion.

  He was going to go to the rams in the early second, so the niners grabbed him in the late first.

  
  

  From the tape I have seen on him, he catches the ball with his hands, he can make catches in traffic, and he has very good speed.  Given that the niners already have a possession-type guy in Boldin, I don't see why they would go with a rookie Patton who is slower and has already been deemed 'nowhere close to being ready'.
