  New England Patriots Rob Gronkowski likely to miss first six games of season

  The New England Patriots have taken a cautious route with tight end Rob Gronkowski and continue to do so as the former Arizona Wildcat has been spotted in street clothes during training camp practices. Why is that significant? Most players who aren’t ready to ‘practice’ but attend training camp (essentially PUP listers) dress out and rehab, but Gronk isn’t even able to do that as of yet.

  Recovering from a multitude of back operations, Boston.com believes the Patriots will keep Gronkowski on the PUP (physically unable to perform) list through the season’s first six games in hopes he’ll fully recover and they’ll have a healthy Gronk come the second half of the season.

  So Boston.com believes he will miss the first 6 games but they actually have no idea. All speculation, your headline is pretty misleading.

  After reading the article, the speculation is definitely well-founded, but nonetheless remains speculation.  I agree with it though.  Not being able to move much at all for weeks definitely hampers a guy's ability to get ready to play football.  Add his limited activity due to all the forearm surgeries to this equation and I think we're a ways from seeing the Gronk out there.

  In a perfect world he'll miss only 6 games but as we've known all along it's the infections that he keeps getting that is delaying everything. Any new Gronk owner that picks him up will learn the frustration of his continuous injuries and will wonder why they even bothered when they could have a TE less talented that could have contributed more in a active roster spot.

  My league is a non PPR 12 person league having a roster of 19 players each. Active roster includes 1Qb 2Rb's 3Wr's 1Te 1K 1Def. Two weeks before draft we cut the roster down to 9 keepers. My team as of now:

  His infection cleared a while back, otherwise they would have had to do another surgery.  It's just the back surgery now.

  These things can turn on a dime in either direction, there is a ton of speculation here on both sides. I think with 4-5 weeks to go, he has plenty of time to get ready for Week 1, or 2 or 3. If I was the decision maker, and I thought he might be ready by Week 3 or so, no way I don't keep him active.

  It's so brutal when you look at your team, and your position of strength becomes an uber weakness. Thought I was sitting pretty with Gronk/Pitta in one league even if Gronk missed time. Now, not so much.

  I was just there as well, but not quite at Gronk level. Had V. Davis and Pitta. Traded Davis away in an RG3 deal only to have Pitta go down a few days later.

  ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on NFL Insiders Monday that "it's not realistic" to expect Rob Gronkowski (back) to play in Week 1 against the Bills.

  We've considered Gronkowski "doubtful" for Week 1 all along. Now the decision will come down to whether Gronk should go on the reserve/PUP list, which would cost him the first six games of the season. The Patriots don't have to make that call for another few weeks. Look for Zach Sudfeld to flirt with TE1 fantasy value for as long as Gronkowski is out. Gronkowski is still worth considering in the third and fourth rounds of fantasy drafts because he's a massive week-to-week difference maker whenever he dresses.

  When you read Schefters full report he says "there is still a chance he plays week 1".  So basically this is the same news as before, theres a chance he plays week one but most people don't think he will, Schefter was just bored.
