RB Depth...what to do

    Hey guys,

So I'm looking at the upcoming season and my RB depth. We're only allowed to keep four so that there are some pickings off the FA market later (we're allowed to keep one rookie on the Taxi Squad, for a total of five RBs if need be). I'm obviously keeping Mathews and Ball but #3 and #4 are a bit tricky. Currently, I have them ranked like this:

    Ball
    Mathews

    Ivory
    Miller
    Lattimore
    Wilson

I had Lattimore ahead of Miller until they drafted Hyde as I think Hyde could be the guy there after Gore runs off the cliff. Ivory I see as a TD vulture to CJnoK in those short yardage situations. Miller I think still has the talent to surpass Moreno but all bets are off. Wilson - well, he just can't get healthy. For depth purposes, how do you see this ranking?

FYI - these RBs would've had people's mouths salivating on this board last offseason.
    :O

I'm not going into who to draft yet. I'll wait on that but obviously how I rank these guys will have a lot to do with who I select at 1.04

If you can get Hyde at 1.4...Move Lattimore to top of list

This is what I've been thinking of lately. Wilson over Ivory? Even with Jennings there? I was bitten big time with Wilson (turned down an offer for Lacy and a first rounder this year last offseason) so I'm a bit salty towards him. His neck issues are a huge concern.

That really is a brutal group of rbs who once looked very promising. Wilson over Ivory. I like keeping lattimore with Hyde.

donvaughn - tell me about it. I picked up Ivory and Miller as a FAs; Wilson I gambled on last year with Mathews so 50% ain't bad. It's tough to nail down RBs in my league even when you can only own four.

I figure if I can nail down 2 starters with one guy I can plug in during bye weeks, I can use my fourth spot as a wait-and-see guy with the rookie. If it pans out, it should give me four guys I can rely on in the future and allowing me to use that rookie slot for RB or WR. Although I'd prefer more consistency than Mathews, he at least showed he can handle the load and Ball looks good for this season (didn't they say that about the other guys on my roster LAST YEAR :-O) now comes the choice of who will give me more reliability as a backup. So far, I do like the Lattimore-Hyde gamble but that could change in the next few months.

sometime in August so I have plenty of time to mull this over and wait for training camp to see if/when someone gets hurt

Lattimore is last for me, try and get value for him.

Miller and Wilson just have so much upside, I can't imagine selling low on them. Sometimes you just have to wait things out for the big payoff. Not everyone explodes right when you expect or want.

I personally have Wilson over Miller.....not just in talent, but opportunity. The Giants have shown they are willing to give Wilson his due, if he holds onto the ball and stays healthy (the latter is a bigger if, but until he gets hurt again I think he has pretty close to standard injury concern in this brutal league.....Lynch and Gore were once considered injury prone, now ,multiple healthy years later....)....The Dolphins gave Miller some opportunities, but not as many as he deserved, and know they have a true all around former 1st round stud back and may be shifting towards the pass more and more.

Hyde is close to can't miss IMHO and having lattimore doesn't add to that situation for me...maybe try and get something for Lattimore now, keep the rest for depth, definitely try and draft Hyde.

I think you can get some later backs for good value in draft too (carey's stock may be rising, but still good value, McKinnon great value, Grice good value and you can pair him with Mathews....I think he is the best bet if Mathews goes down to get feature back type carries once Brown proves ineffective).
