Smitty – Great Guides!!
I drafted McCoy, AJ Green, Stephen Jackson and Dez Bryant in my 12 teamer, so I put a lot of faith in your advice.
I waited on TE and got Jacob Tamme. I’ve been offered Vernon Davis for Kenny Britt and Tamme. Worth it for the upgrade at TE? What about just Britt?
Thanks!
Thanks. I would hang onto Britt at that value. Tamme will be solid, and Vernon is good, but not worth losing what Britt could bring you after he settles in (expect maybe a slow start, especially if suspended a game or two).
Nice squad by the way. The only player I’m not excited about is SJax, but the good news is he should start off solid, so trading him high wouldn’t be an issue. But if you believe in him, don’t let me talk you out of believing in him for one more year. Trust your gut.
Yeah, I hear you. Hes 100% an injury risk at 29 and a half but there’s not much to pick from with running backs in the 3rd/4th and I’ll take the guy that has 1,000+ yards every year for the last 3 years over somebody un-proven. (Trent Richardson may have been on the board, for example)
Thanks for the call on Britt. I just don’t know how many of these WR’s I can trust and the value of Vernon was appealing after waiting until the 11th to draft a Tight End. I’ll stick it out with Tamme though. Thanks again.
No prob. Work that waiver wire, that’s how you get that difference maker!
The draft is on Monday and now im really 2nd guess my idea as the 4th pick. Since this is a flex league my gut is rb’ are going to fly to the point where guys are taking like a bradshaw , gore , sproles in 3rd – 4th rounds. I kept saying if I dont get one of the 3 elite rbs im getting rodgers Now I think I want to go Chris Johnson or Mcfadden prob C Johnson. If Newton is there in 2nd I will take him but I have no problem going first 3 rounds all rb’s. If I started the draft with Chris Johnson , Murray and Richardson. I know I can get 2 good wr’s and a later qb. I know Rodgers was a beast last year but say he only throws 35 tds this year and a guy like rivers or ryan throw 31 the difference between 1st round Rodgers and 7th round rivers wont be that much if my running back is Chris Johnson and the guy with Rodgers has reggie bush as his rb1. Thoughts?
Well, I talk about this quite a bit all over the site, but I am just not a fan of going QB in round 1 this year. I’ve always been a supporter of the strategy, not that I always drafted that way, but I argued that it was perfectly arguable to do so. Well, this year, I have not drafted one team I’m truly happy with going QB in round 1. The runners and WRs fly off the board so fast this year, it’s just tough to have a balanced team. That said, I own Brady and Cam in a lot of those leagues where I wait to the second round. Take the chance that Cam falls, if not grab a Vick in the 6th or so and pair him with another option in case he gets hurt. McFadden is my No. 4 right now, CJ2K is my No. 5 overall… moving forward, I won’t draft any other way at the 4 and 5 spots.
so in the 2nd round assuming i got mccoy , cjohnson , or mcfadden i should go cam over demarco murray. I can start up to 3 rb’s in flex going rb /rb/ elite wr i can wait for a qb no? Is cam that much safer and better than demarco in 2nd . Another question if you needed a backup after you get your wr and rb would you take p hillis, r wayne, or s greene thanks
I would go Cam. I just think he is top 5 material myself, so grabbing him in the second is just robbery.
McFadden, Cam, that’s a recipe for some point dropping on Sundays!
Greene, then Hillis, although I just don’t believe in Greene. Hillis is higher risk, but probably higher upside if ever forced to start.
