Week 7 Add/Drop Advice

Below you will find our Add/Drop Advice heading into Week 7. Some of the players below won’t necessarily be available in every format, for example Kennan Allen is likely gone in most medium-to-large size leagues, but we decided to list a few players that we’ve seen available in smaller leagues (just in case they are sitting in your free agent player pool).

Here we go!

    • Redraft I assume, as of course I would in dynasty. Not sure he will even be back for the final week. I’d hold for now and be certain the news reports suggesting he can’t return until week 15 aren’t jumping the gun. Tough one, even if he came back would he be healthy in Week 15, enough to get a grip of targets? I think I wait a bit on dropping him, unless of course you can add someone super solid.

      Other thoughts?

  1. I just saw the reports saying he can’t come back for 8 full weeks. With a broken leg, I doubt he will be in shape enough. I have space to stash him for the week. I will go after either Douglas or Boykin now. Thanks

  2. I still have Megatron, B Marshall, TY and Hopkins. I’m not sure why I keep Hopkins with the QB situation in Houston right now. Would you flex Gio or TY this week?

  3. I have a trade offer:

I give: Josh Gordon and Eric Decker
    I get: Calvin Johnson

My other WRs would be TY Hilton, Andre Johnson, Percy Harvin on the bench. I play 3 WRS.

    Thoughts?

  4. I added Terrance Williams. We start 4 WRs. Would you consider him a weekly starter in PPR, even if Miles Austin plays?

My main 3 are Wayne, Steve Smith, Keenan Allen. I would be starting him in front of guys like Stephen Hill, Givens, and Hartline.

    • I think all those guys are close, and any one of them could outscore the other based on match-up, or even when match-ups don’t make sense. Givens could be a year away, sure, but I still have hope he pulls away from names like this. As mentioned in this week’s start bench advice article, he dropped an 80-yard touchdown pass, which would have had him at 100 and a score, which would have everyone talking about his big-time outing. Woulda, shoulda, coulda, and every player has a “if he would have” story, so ultimately it is what it is, but I still see elite in the making in Givens, I’m just not 100 percent sure his team is going to feed him what he needs to breakout. Bryant took a while to breakout, he didn’t breakout like Julio and AJ did their second years. This is Givens’ second year, and it may just be that we see only flashes of brilliance near the end of his season, but I’m hopeful Bradford keeps tossing him the deep ball.

  5. Sorry, above I forgot to mention I also have Vincent Jackson. So maybe I’d start Terrance Williams over Steve Smith, Stephen Hill, Givens, hartline…

Or just watch your projections and go week to week ;)

    • Well, even the projections are going to be close, because this is close. These kinds of names are always close, and honestly, you can almost swap guys like this all the way down the projections list each week. Steve Smith would be the safe play, and Givens could grab the spot from him, but Smith feels a touch more secure until that becomes clear. Cam looks like he could be getting things going here in Weeks 7-16, which means his favorite target, Smith, should be more consistent. I’m starting Givens still in several leagues (at my WR3 spot), so I like both.

  6. Smitty what’s your take on the NYG backfield? This has the look of rbbc the rest of the way. Wilson and Andre Brown are both on waivers in my league. 12 team redraft non ppr. Jacobs is taken and I suspect his role will be short lived. Who’s the add in this format; Brown or Wilson, neither, or both? thanks!

    • Man, that’s tough, as it kinda depends on if you have spots to burn (big rosters). Wilson/Brown/Jacobs… you almost need all those guys right now to play it safe, which I take it is not something you can do? Some leagues are just so big you can, though. Brown could be the most valuable down the stretch if he proves healthy, as NY liked him heading into Week 1 and until Jacobs’ recent success, no one was stepping up, so you’d almost think Brown would be a lock to get even 50% of the carries right out of the gate when back. Then again, now Jacobs looks pretty good, but can he hold up given his time off from starter duty plus his injury history? But, 22 carries, 106 yards and 2TDs, it’s hard to ignore that stat line of Jacobs’ from Week 6. I think if you need the production now, Jacobs is the guy, but something tells me the Week 9 bye is going to toss everything upside down again, as Wilson should be back, so should Brown, and both will likely be rested through that bye, as coaches often use a bye as that extra ‘get well’ buffer time. So, to answer your question, I think it’s Jacobs for now, but could be a mess here shortly, unless Jacobs keeps up his strong performances.

  7. Hey Smitty,
In a REDRAFT league, I was proposed this trade:

HIS Antonio Brown & Jordan Cameron for MY Tom Brady and Gio Bernard.

This is a 12 team, non-ppr, redraft league where all TD’s are worth 6pts. Standard scoring.

    We start 1 QB, 2 RB’s, 3 WR’s, 1 TE, K, D/ST

    MY roster:
    QB: Brady, Wilson
RB: Moreno, L. Miller, Bernard, Ball, McGahee, D. Thomas
    WR: Marshall, Allen, Givens, Harvin
    TE: Cook

    Thanks!

  8. No way. First off, Cameron could rebound, but he hasn’t been the same without Hoyer under center (Week 5: 3 rec for 36 yards, Week 6: 5 rec for 64 yards — no scores). Cook isn’t far off, at this point, despite Cameron having big games for a string of time vs. Cook having just one. Would I rather have Cameron? Sure, again, he has done it longer, but both are in droughts, and Gio is as good, if not better, than Antonio Brown. Brady in a 6pt per TD format should come on strong with Gronk’s return here soon… no way I make this. Trade Wilson in some sort of WR upgrade. Can you trade McGahee and Allen for a WR? Not that I don’t go after either Cameron or Brown, heck get em, but I go about it a different way is all, and target other players in 2 for 1 combos. McGahee might have some trade value, and Allen should have good value. Harvin will, and he will almost be worth waiting on regardless. Moreno is playing tough, so is Bernard… With Brady ready to turn it on, with Marshall being Marshall, you should have a nice run here in a week or 2 once Brady returns. If you can’t wait for a week or two, your team is still very win-capable, but just be sure to get way more if you’re going to make a trade. Trade for an undervalued Doug Martin or CJ Spiller using Moreno or Bernard…. don’t make a lateral trade like the above one (one with almost less upside). Always trust your gut, but that’s my take.

  9. Thanks for the insight Smitty!

What do you think would be a fair offer for Martin? The manager offering this trade has Martin, and wants Brady.

    Thanks again!

    • You have Wilson.. Brady for Martin. If he wants a runner, see what second player he can throw in before you include someone else. And I’m not so sure I trade either Moreno or Bernard, they are playing well! McGahee and Brady for Martin? I bet that could ink it. Love that deal.

  10. Just lost cobb should i cut him in redraft im 2-4 so i have to win right now. On waiver wire is both harvin and d moore 12 team league. I can drop cobb, j randle, or andre brown. Was thinking about picking up both these guys . My team is
    QB Cam
    RB Foster
    RB Martin
    WR Fitz
    WR K Allen
    Flex L Miller
TE Gronk ( Cook for now),

Bench Amendola, Cobb, Ellington, Tate, Andre Brown, J Randle,

should i cut Cook, Cobb, Andrew Brown, or Randle to pick up Harvin and Moore

    • That’s tough. Brown could be solid later, cutting him is a risk, but I cut him for Harvin if in that situation. Keep Cook, you need a TE right? Gronk is iffy… Moore and Randle are close.. Other thoughts on those two? Anyone? It boils down to whom you think you’d ever use. Randle could have short term value, then again, he could run like crazy and steal the job.

  11. I here is my team in a 0.5 ppr with 6pt pass TD:and no flex position

    Luck
    Morris
    TRich
    Dez
    Aj Green
    Julius Thomas

    Bench:
    VJax
    Lamar Miller
    Pryor
    Russell Wilson

I just made a trade for Doug Martin and gave up VJax and Miller. Thoughts?

  13. In a dynasty league as the season moves along is Pitta a must add. I have Tony G. He is my starter this year, but assuming no major changes happen in BAL, is Pitta top 10 in 2014? (I know I’m way ahead of the curve here).

    • Honestly, it’s tough to say coming off injury. It’s a wait and see, but Pitta was easily on the top 5-10 fast track prior to getting hurt. If you feel he will be 100 percent, something I need to see first, sure.

  14. Hey smitty What do you think about trading shane vereen and harry douglas away for c.j. spiller? I personally think im going to get a steal cause I still love spiller but im still wondering whether shane vereen is very valuable or not due to him not coming back till week 11. Your thoughts?

    • I do that all day long. There is risk, but not a lot at that price. I love Vereen, don’t get me wrong, but that’s the definition of buying low on Spiller.

  15. Hey smitty some guy dropped montee ball in my 12 team non ppr league who would you rather stash if you had the space…monte ball or christian Michael? I’m kinda leaning ball cause knowshown always gets hurt but I see the talent sitting behind lynch that you have pointed out.

    • That’s a tough one. Both could ride the bench a while, but Ball is getting touches, so he is closer to getting carries. Then again, if Lynch went down, my guess is the Michael project would speed up fast. I like both as stashes. If redraft, Ball. If Dynasty, both :) but Michael if you had to pick one. I doubt we’re talking Dynasty here, as Michael is not available in really any dynasty leagues, but saying this just in case.

    • It’s a tough one. Wright is solid, at least as of late. If say Rudolph eventually, but it’s a toss up right now with the edge going to Wright due to momentum?

  16. Would you trade Doug Martin and AJ Green for Steve Smith and Arian Foster? 0.50 PPR

  17. I already know what you’re going. To say here… If you own lacy do you trade Boykin for Franklin straight up? The catch here is, I’m so stacked on wr and rb that there’s really no reason to have a handcuff. And boykin’s potential could be huge. Look at how Cobb and jones last year when Nelson and Jennings went down.
