Please leave the name off this thread... start a new thread if you want to talk about this player in trades, etc...

Thanks, everyone! Hope you're enjoying the picks... I told all of you that were wanting bolder ones that the bold ones were coming :) It has a good mix of big names to no names.

Another guy I own. I really hope this one hits. It will give me a very nice trading piece later in the season.

One guy in my league has 4 of your upside guys and is refusing to trade any of them. Trying to come up with a way to pry at least one of them with little trading cost to maximize the upside value.
My league is a non PPR 12 person league having a roster of 19 players each. Active roster includes 1Qb 2Rb's 3Wr's 1Te 1K 1Def. Two weeks before draft we cut the roster down to 9 keepers. My team as of now:
QB Russell Wilson, EJ Manuel, Josh Mckown
RB Lamar Miller, Shane Vereen, Zac Stacy, Cierre Wood
WR AJ Green, Julio Jones, Josh Gordon, Andre Johnson, Rueben Randle, Kenny Stills
TE Z Ertz, M. Bennett, Delanie Walker
    DEF Kansas City, Cleveland
    K Steven Hauschka

Does he know about DC? If he does, I could see why he isn't motivated to move them.

Nice, somebody you would not expect on the Upside Board.

No, I refuse to share my DC family with anyone in my league! :-$

I like this one a lot. I also really like his QB. I think you're on to something with these guys.

Thanks biddy. I'm going to beat this next statement like a dead horse this off-season, so get use to hearing it, DC Nation.

Last year, we had a lot of busts on the Upside Board, I won't run from that. But, what I want to make very clear is that these are "swing for the fences" (but calculated, not random stabs in the dark)... but like a great home run hitter in baseball, they often times swing and strike out. I cannot guarantee we won't have another grip of busts this year on the Upside Board, it happens. But, I won't shy away from continuing to be bold and gut-driven, while yes, mixing in a bunch of facts, statistical data and some red flag avoiding thinking... but at the end of the day, YOU SHOULD NOT be building a team with all these guys on the same roster. They are all super high reward, but some come with more risk than others.

You can land Josh Gordon, like last year, but Lamar Miller and David Wilsons are bound to happen, and you just need to be responsible with how you use this info.
I can't tell you how much people judged all that DraftCalc did last year based on just the Upside Board's accuracy. Know that 50% lands would be an AMAZING year for any Upside Board Predictions... These aren't locks. These aren't safe. These aren't going to be 100%, and some years 2-3 could land only. It happens, it will happen, my goal will always do my best to land above 50%, well, I hope for 100%, but that's just not realistic given I'm trying to find gems in all this, not safe easy calls.

well the one difference from this years upside board from last is your picking guys that are in a safer role situation wise that are in a offense that will clearly get the ball more then they did last year. Are they all bold NO they are not in fact you are picking guys that most of us here at DC knew already were set up to have better years because of the situation where I think last year was more talent over situation was the reason things derailed with guys you were high on.

I just think it's much harder to stay completely ahead of the curve in FF these days. With all the forums and information out there at owners' fingertips, players gain hype very quickly. This is the time of year where everyone is looking for the next big thing. All these players fit that mold, and because of that they are highly sought after all around the FF community.

I think now may actually be the worst time to try to buy many of these upside players for the reasons I listed above. No player's value will be decreased by not performing on the field this time of year. I think many will have much better opportunities to buy these players. One period being after the draft when there's a large influx of new players full of upside and hyped to the sky. This will allow the hype and value to die down on some of the existing breakout players. The other opportunity is waiting for the season the start and finding buy low spots on these players when they have a down game or don't break out week 1 or 2. Sometimes you just need to be patient. When news comes out during the offseason on one of these players, owners will receive several offers for that player at one time. The ball is in their court. Eventually the hype moves on to somebody else and the action dies down. That's when you jump in.
    2013 predictions

    -Cobb outscores Harvin in PPR
-Chris Ivory will be a top 15RB
-Kenny Britt finishes outside the top 20WRs

@swampies I'm getting more "now that's bold" comments than last year.. Plus, dude, look at 1,3,4, 5 and 7... 9 and 10 are less bold I admit, but the prediction is still quite bold... Also, if you go after just an up and coming player like No. 8 all by himself, half the time you're inviting the knee jerk no, as the owner will wonder what's up and why you're going after such a deep name. Plus, news broke today (ESPN writer predicting big things) that will have some excited.. You won't get every player in every league, as many conservative owners will never trade their players.

This year's picks are bold, come on lol

I hate conservative owners...my money league's owners are that way. They just assume that if I want someone they must be getting jipped
    Bold Predictions:
Cordarelle Patterson replaces Josh Gordon in the top 5 WR group.
(Julio, Calvin, AJG, CP, and Dez)

Andre Williams proves himself to be the best RB in this class, by having the most productive rookie season of all the rbs.

And you could offer them Dez for their Roddy just to test em and they would need 3 days to think on it to just say "not now"

Seriously. Impossible to trade for someone and get any upside. I forreal couldn't get cordarelle Patterson for ajg in this league. Like if I offered ajg straight up for CP he'd ask me to throw in a first lol

^not directing that at you smitty, just saying I think him breaking out would be a little bolder IMO than some of the others

Well, No. 1 (not the name, the actual projection) is bold as all heck. 2, 3, 4 and 8 are crazy almost. Not sure how some are suggesting this year is any less bold than last year. That's just silly IMO. As soon as some of these posted, there were "Now that's bold" comments. And, as for No. 8, news broke today ironically on Rotoworld/ESPN talking about an ESPN prediction... for those that didn't trade in that first 12 hours the Upside Board prediction was up :) it still won't move No. 8's value so high that he won't still have monster upside, especially in redraft. If he can't be had at RB3/4/5 type value in leagues, you were never going to get him from that owner anyway. Nothing is concrete with his situation yet, if someone isn't trading him, they just liked him, just like us, and they were never sending him packing.

If you want a guy like No. 8, or No. 5, don't throw up red flags by doing 1 for 1 type offers, it just makes people go "why do you want him, what's breaking news wise on this guy?"
