Oof ... start up ... today ... Forte if he slips.  But I'd probably wait and hope to grab Ball is he slips.  Bottom line - I wouldn't reach for Forte, would for Ball.

I'm more excited for ball. If this is my rb2 I want ball's upside. If it's my rb1 then I want the sure thing in forte
    Bold Predictions:
Cordarelle Patterson replaces Josh Gordon in the top 5 WR group.
(Julio, Calvin, AJG, CP, and Dez)

Andre Williams proves himself to be the best RB in this class, by having the most productive rookie season of all the rbs.

I think I would take the next 2-3 years of production from Forte.

Man this actually tuff. Hard to diss MBall pass blocking when compared to 2013 worst 15 hurries from Forte. I'm taking Ball cause Manning. Baby steps Smitty, baby steps ;-)

I might have to take this route as well despite my belief in Ball cashing in on #1 duties. I'm not quite ready to draft Ball as my RB1 yet.... close, but not quite.

Ya, my thoughts too. He's someone I want, but I want to be okay if some type of lamar miller/David Wilson type stuff goes down. Having one of them as your rb1 last year probably lost you your league

2-3 years? Really? He is older than Foster, will be 29 before the season ends and has near what 1900 total touches. Not sure he will near 3 years, at least at an elite level... and 2 will be a surprise to me. He could be elite for 2014 IMO and then slow to a decent producer for 1-2 years, that I can see. That's why he is a sell high for me.

I'm just not a believer in Ball so taking 2-3 years of a potentially declining player kind tells you where Ball is in my rankings.  I could be totally wrong on Ball but I'm just not seeing a productive NFL career out of him.  Honestly, comparing Forte to Ball isn't really fair IMO.  How about we compare someone like Murray or Bell against Ball?  Closer in age and future NFL longevity IMO.

Isn't that what everybody said about Moreno last year?  I picked up Moreno off of waivers week 1 last year ... and he rode me into the playoffs.  Everyone wrote him off ike he's "nothing"?  just saying ... too late to buy now - but you might regret that statement b/c Forte at RB3 and Moreno (who is not as good as Ball IMO) was RB5 in non-PPR last year ... sorry, don't have PPR stats b/c I don't have a PPR league...

PPR a Dynasty startup : Ball > Forte
My league is a non PPR 12 person league having a roster of 19 players each. Active roster includes 1Qb 2Rb's 3Wr's 1Te 1K 1Def. Two weeks before draft we cut the roster down to 9 keepers. My team as of now:
QB Nick Foles, Russell Wilson, Josh McCown
RB Lamar Miller, Shane Vereen, Zac Stacy, Cierre Wood
WR AJ Green, Julio Jones, Josh Gordon, Rueben Randle, Kenny Stills
TE Z Ertz, M. Bennett, Delanie Walker
    DEF Kansas City, Cleveland
    K Steven Hauschka

(I'm not a expert but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night!)

This is extremely even, Forte the vastly superior talent, but Ball in the most ideal situation for a pedestrian talent (exhibit A - Moreno). So let's say Manning lasts another 2 years, that's about the time they both hit average as a Forte declines and Ball loses his meal ticket. So no advantage either way, except perhaps the fact that we know a Forte is the starter, Ball may still end up in a timeshare

I agree with this. I don't doubt that Ball can be productive (look what Moreno did), but it's much more about his situation than his talent IMO. Of course situation matters, there's no denying that. But is Ball as talented as Forte? Not even close IMO.

Having said all of that, I'd take Ball over Forte. This is where Doggie's assessment comes into play. Forte is entering the twilight of his career and Ball is just getting started. I hate having old stud RBs on my roster. I don't want to be left holding them when they fall off. That's the only reason I would take Ball over Forte. Forte's value has peaked and it will be heading downwards. There's no amount of production Forte can put up to keep that from happening.
    2014 predictions

(3/16) Toby Gerhart will have 1400 total yards and 8TDs
(3/16) Cobb will outscore Allen in PPR

Forte the unquestioned starter in an offense perfect for his skills; Ball might be. Like to have 'em both, though Forte first.
