For those don't know what's coming and for those that think Ball has no explosion.

Well Knighton, I may be a victim of just watching highlights and not the games, but to me West is far more dynamic, but I may be wrong.  I will however wager a bet that if the Broncs draft West, Ball will lose his job in camp :)

Nope. I thought the "Fox won't start a rookie" trend would not hold up last year. I was wrong. No rookie will threaten Ball if healthy, no way. Fox trusts Ball now, proven by important game-on-the-line playoff carries. In camp? Zero chance IMO even if DEN drafts a big name rook.

Especially not with Peyton Manning to protect.

    Makes me smile. ;)

I love the "no burst" and "no power" arguments. The weight drag drill near the end shows the burst/power proof, and a stiff arm stronger than Adrian Peterson, that's not so average..

Thurman Thomas, Curtis Martin, Frank Gore... Montee Ball

None will flash in combine drills. None are athletic superstars. Perhaps that's why none were drafted in the 1st rd. of the NFL Draft.

    But...

All of them have great vision. All of them have great anticipation. All of them have great power. All of them know how to play the running back position.

Ball has similar skills to Thomas, Gore and Martin

Thurman Thomas was coming off a knee injury when he entered the draft.

McGahee blew out his knee and was still taken in the 1st. Point is, even before Thomas' knee injury before the draft, he wasn't an athletic beast who was going to wow at the combine. Just like Gore, Ball and Co.

Ball can have his stuff arm. He will never be AD. But that is saying a lot
    A. Rodgers
    L. McCoy, M. Lynch, L. Bell, B. Brown, S. Greene
    B. Marshall, R. Cobb, R. Wayne, T. Smith, M. Floyd, M. Jones, E. Sanders

haha - good point stewart - what good is a stiff arm when Peyton retires and there are 8 in the box, he just doesn't have the quicks to be a superstar NFL back, good goalline guy though.   He'll be fool's gold for 1-2 years and awesome trade material after his big season riding Manning's coattails, a nice rental to win a Championship though, I'll concede that

You say that like Peyton has played his whole career in Denver and Elway ddint talk Peyton into signing there. If Elway can talk the GOAT into signing in Denver he can certainly talk another great QB ito doing the same. I doubt Elway is going with a rookie post Manning. Maybe but I doubt it. Nobody knows what the future holds. Just because Manning is leaving doesnt mean 8 in the box.

Ball=E smith and his o-line isnt too shabby...he has one hell of a stiff arm like Smith(which i believe is still the all time leading rusher).he had a great o-line but with a stud qb and wr along side him they couldnt attack only the run game Aikman/Irvin would beat them when defs did.. That what you will see with Ball(but manning and his wr will kill them 1st,then ball gets to mop up)..Just because he isnt a AP doesnt mean he cant score points in FF(heck look at bell,he isnt a great RB but he scores good) and that is why we really play and draft players right?

great points Bdd and JMRRT,  but with Manning playing historical football that is likely not repeatable by anyone else,  we can only expect a drop from here - who else can play at that level once he retires?  Not saying you are wrong and perhaps Ball goes from 1A to 1B with Manning's new replacement top QB, but it's hard t imagine another QB demanding as much attention as Manning - Ball is running against 4 or 5, not 7 or 8 and still only mustered a 4 ypc or so,  a great back would be 6pyc +  with that advantageous situation.

if ball isnt great ..why stack the box then? I expect a drop for manning this year.. and they still have  some pretty good wrs..sure anytime you go from a HOF qb to something less he will affect them the whole team.. i dont see anyone throwing DT/JT to the curb..

It doesnt have to be repeatable to keep defenses from stacking 8 in the box. All it has to be is an above average passing game that throws the ball about 60% of the time with a respectable QB. Do you think that Denver is the only team in the league that doesnt see 8 in the box?

Is no one else just enamored with his balance?? That is easily the most impressive skill he possess in my mind. I think some people may think he lacks burst or explosiveness but what I see is remarkable control over his body. At any moment he can spin, huddle or lower his shoulder and all of them work well enough to be successful at the next level IMO.
    Bold Predictions:
Cordarelle Patterson replaces Josh Gordon in the top 5 WR group.
(Julio, Calvin, AJG, CP, and Dez)

Andre Williams proves himself to be the best RB in this class, by having the most productive rookie season of all the rbs.
