Seastrunk is the top back coming out, catch him if you can

Been watching and analyzing the RB's and I like a lot of them, but one stands out FAR above the rest, Mr. Lache Seastrunk.  The knock on him is his size and unproven as a pass catcher,
I don't care.  Anyone with any talent can learn to catch 5 yarders out of the backfield, but once the ball is in his hand - this guy is lightning!  I don't care what his combine says, watch the tape.
He is the most dynamic runner I have seen in years - but he also is tough.  Do yourself a favor, youtube his highlights, and tell me why Seastrunk is NOT the top ranked back?

    Seastrunk = Charles

Get him while he is cheap!

I'm curious to find out all of your opinions of this guy, where am I wrong?  Is he too small?  Have I gone "Ivory" on Seastrunk?

He is my #2 behind Sankey. I think they both are gonna be studs. If Hill ends up in Tenn he could get a bump. Seastrunk in right situation could be beast....ATL maybe.
I don't trust Adam Schefter and neither should you!!!

I must admit that I spend less time scouting the incoming rookies than i should. I liked what Lache did in college, but I've been a bit skeptical of him due to his supposed lack of pass catching ability and because he doesn't appear to be an early down back . I'll have to look at him a little closer.
    2014 predictions

(3/16) Toby Gerhart will have 1400 total yards and 8TDs
(3/16) Cobb will outscore Allen in PPR

I had to look into him a little more, since you brought him up.  The pass catching is a concern, as he's had more drops then catches the last two years in college.  However in his defense, the coaches didn't utilize the RBs that much in the passing offense.  I'm sure any team that has brought him in, had him run a few routes and catch a few balls.

One negative that stood out to me in some of the highlights I watched is that he seemed to be a little wild in the way he carried the football, with his arm swinging around away from his body.  So I had to investigate this a little more.  It seems like he had a little bit of a fumbling problem in 2012, which he seemed to fix a little in 2013.  I still think he's going to have to do more on the next level in that regards or he might find himself in the coach's doghouse, like David Wilson did his rookie season.

I read that Buffalo has shown some interest.  It could be a good fit as both FJax and Spiller are in the final years of their contracts, Spiller has a player option for next year.

This is a good callout.  That definitely shows up in his highlight videos.  I get nervous seeing stuff like that because nobody gets away with it at the NFL level.  Wilson is a good example.  It can be fixed though but in his case I think it must be addressed by coaches.  I really liked the burst and balance he shows consistently.  Glad this thread exists because he was majorly downgraded for me after feeling the buzz about him not being a pass catcher.  Now my interest in him has increased, while still noting the way he carries the rock away from his body.  Curious to see what type of situation he lands in.
    TEAM 1 - Dynasty PPR, start 1 QB / 2 RB / 2 WR / 1 TE / 1 FX
    QB - Brees/Luck
    RB - Lynch(Michael,Turbin)/Stacy/Martin/Spiller
    WR - Megatron/Julio/Dez/Keenan/Rueben/Cordarelle
    TE - Graham/Julius

I like Seastrunk as my #1 as well. Reminds me of mccoy
    Bold Predictions:
Cordarelle Patterson replaces Josh Gordon in the top 5 WR group.
(Julio, Calvin, AJG, CP, and Dez)

Andre Williams proves himself to be the best RB in this class, by having the most productive rookie season of all the rbs.

He does a great job of finding the hole quickly and exploding through it. Good lateral quicks too

I am uninterested in Seastrunk, as I believe he is does not fit into a workhorse or a 3rd down back profile. He is quite explosive so he could be able to do a lot with a little, but I think I'll let other people take him in my drafts for now.
    2014 Bold Predictions (PPR):
    1. Alfred Morris will be a top 5 RB (4/21/14)

Great comments and agree with them all to some degree, but when I re-watch the videos of Sankey, Mason and a few others, then immediately watch Seastrunk, wow! It's like the others are in slow motion. He has unbelievable lateral skills, but what really stands out is he has another level, whenever someone gets close he gets a shot of adrenaline, no way he can replicate at the combine, he's got game speed, he needs to be chased to see his real speed. This guy puts on 5 pounds of muscle, plays at 206 or 207 and I believe!!! If a Charles can play at 199, Seastrunk can play at 205, unless one of you talks me out of it haha.

His age also is a red flag. I could see people liking him though, he is basically David Wilson discounted a few rounds.

What is going to hold him back is pass pro.  He's horrible at it.  I fell for David Wilson once...won't do it again.  Pass.

Actually there is a key difference between Seastrunk and Wilson. Wilson ran a slow 7.09 3-cone. Seastrunk on his Pro a Day ran 6.81, only Ssnkey and Gaffney ran it faster. This is a great measurement of lateral quickness and burst. Wilson is very fast but straight line, Seastrunk has that Stacy, C Michael cutting ability, I think this measurement is a key to picking a winner. Even Gio with his slow 40 times ran 6.91 which translates well to his ability to break runs. At about the same size I think Seastrunk is a quicker, more explosive Gio, probably not as good as a pass catcher but probably much more explosive as a RB.

Sorry man but you really need to stop putting so much stock into measurables and combine #s.. If you can't pass protect or catch you won't be a 3 down back..

You say "anyone can learn to catch 5 yard passes"... If it were only that easy..

P.s. Crowell is the top back :)
    My 2013 Predictions:
    [:(] C.J. Spiller Will Be The #1RB(Jan 9th)
[XXX] Demaryius Thomas will be the #1 scoring WR!(Feb 13th)
[XXX] Trent Richardson will NOT finish as a Top 10 RB!(June 4th)
    [:(] Rob Housler will be a Top 5 TE in 2013!(July 18th)
[XXX] Josh Gordon will put up a 80/1200/10 stat line in just 14 Games!(Sept 5th)

I tend to agree with bmx about the catching...even rbs who aren't good receivers can catch dump offs out of the backfield.

When I saw him on tape the first back I compared him to was McCoy. That's who he looks like on the eye test to me. The first negative that stood out was exactly what was said earlier. He swings the ball way outside his body like a sprinter with a baton. A la David Wilson, Bryce Brown. He's amazing laterally, but doesn't get north and south in a hurry. I'm worried about him dancing behind the line too much. Not sure what coaching at the next level will do for him but he def has the talent to be the #1 RB from this class. Landing spot and fundamental improvement will be the difference to me

I like Seastrunk.  I have him up there with Mason and Hyde, with Crowell right behind.

As for as swinging the ball around, doesn't McCoy do the same thing?
