Seastrunk is the top back coming out, catch him if you can

Seastrunk is too talented for an NFL coach not to do several things:

    - Pack on 5-7 pounds of muscle - playing weight by year 2 of 208
    - Teach him how to pass protect - it really isn't rocket science, read and react, he already does that running
    - Teach him how to catch standing still in the flat, receive ball, turn, run - running backs rarely have to run complicated patterns or catch at full speed, it's not hard to catch screens

Seastrunk ran a 4.46 at his Pro Day and a 6.81 3-cone so any doubts about his quicks and speed are gone.  He runs with more explosion than Mason, I like Mason as a good NFL player, I like Seastrunk as the next Marshall Faulk.

Funny you bring this up again and act like any 5yr old can learn to pass protect and catch.. If it was as simple as you're making it there wouldn't be tons of talented RBs who sat because they can't do one or the other.

The fact that at 20+ years old the dude that's been playing football his whole life still can't catch a fb tells me he ain't gonna learn in the next year.

Ask David Wilson how easy it was for him to pass protect, its not just something they learn overnight.
    My 2013 Predictions:
    [:(] C.J. Spiller Will Be The #1RB(Jan 9th)
[XXX] Demaryius Thomas will be the #1 scoring WR!(Feb 13th)
[XXX] Trent Richardson will NOT finish as a Top 10 RB!(June 4th)
    [:(] Rob Housler will be a Top 5 TE in 2013!(July 18th)
[XXX] Josh Gordon will put up a 80/1200/10 stat line in just 14 Games!(Sept 5th)

Fair enough, but I think it is teachable with the right teacher - just ask Montee Ball if you can't teach a twenty-something a new trick.  Point is, it is teachable if the guy is even remotely cerebral,  so a team would have to be convinced he can't be taught to pass up on that talent. Willing to bet he scored higher than CJ on the Wonderlic!

Having Manning tell you who to block helps more then most rbs will ever have

I see a ton of Felix Jones in Seastrunk as far as running skill set(but Jones could catch, Seasrtrunk can't)... and I was super high on Jones... won't bite again.  Granted Jones was a sneeze away from injury...

I will say, just like Felix, Seastrunk has superb long speed.  I can see him perhaps making a name for himself as a kick returner.

career ceiling: change of pace back 8-10 carries a game
career floor: 5-8 snaps a game... since he can't catch and pass pro

I thought Seastrunk had a a bad 40? I thought he was much more agile than fast?
    Bold Predictions:
Cordarelle Patterson replaces Josh Gordon in the top 5 WR group.
(Julio, Calvin, AJG, CP, and Dez)

Andre Williams proves himself to be the best RB in this class, by having the most productive rookie season of all the rbs.

I just saw Seastrunk go 2.6 in a 14-tem league. 20th overall.  He's better than that I think.  Situational runner thou- definitely has another gear that gets there in a hurry. Landing spot could be huge for him.

Sorry man but you really need to stop putting so much stock into measurables and combine #s.. If you can't pass protect or catch you won't be a 3 down back..

You say "anyone can learn to catch 5 yard passes"... If it were only that easy..

P.s. Crowell is the top back :)

I thought your #1 RB was Sankey? I could be wrong, but if I'm not, I'd like to know why Crowell is your new #1 and where you have Sankey ranked. I know this is a little off topic, but I enjoy Luke's perspective on things. Thanks.

The NFL is a league of details, especially for the running back. Pass-blocking is one of those overlooked aspects of earning playing time on a pro field, and is one of the skills Seastrunk hasn’t developed enough yet.
My league is a non PPR 12 person league having a roster of 19 players each. Active roster includes 1Qb 2Rb's 3Wr's 1Te 1K 1Def. Two weeks before draft we cut the roster down to 9 keepers. My team as of now:
QB Nick Foles, Russell Wilson, Josh McCown
RB Lamar Miller, Shane Vereen, Zac Stacy, Cierre Wood
WR AJ Green, Julio Jones, Josh Gordon, Rueben Randle, Kenny Stills
TE Z Ertz, M. Bennett, Delanie Walker
    DEF Kansas City, Cleveland
    K Steven Hauschka

(I'm not a expert but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night!)

    Thanks @dunlap13

    And @carramrod958

You're not confused, Sankey was my #1 but I didn't finish looking at everyone at the time. I also need to update the rb/WR rankings just haven't got around to it.
