Wal-Mart was changing their TV plan and I was able to get an LG 55" (display model) for 450.00. This has an awesome picture I'm super pleased with it.

If I'm buying a TV I'm going Vizio or Samsung LCD or LED. To me Samsung is a brighter picture but Vizio imo does better with darker movies/colors. I really think it is a preference personally. I own both led Vizio and Samsung LED. I prefer my 3D Vizio 55 240hz which is right under 1G at Sams/Costco. I can say from experience you absolutely do not want a Samsung plasma. Mine has an incredible picture but also has ESPN logo perm in the bottom right corner. I was super carefull avoiding burn in and still happened. If I was going plasma go LG or Panasonic, not Samsung. Warranty do not cover burn in also, I was pissed.

Mentioned above my refresh on my Vizio is 240hz, I rarely leave it above 120hz. 120hz is the sweet spot for me, 60 drags slightly and unless 3D 240hz looks like a soap opera and too clean.

I guess I should be more clear if you get plasma you get what you pay for. Mine was cheap Samsung you see around like -$600 for 51". Its not worth it. It does have great picture outside burn in, some images burn in and go away but ESPN won't. It has protection with pixel shift and a white scrub feature but still got it. I'm stupid picky about my TV you might not notice logo there if I didn't show you but its looks like herpes to me.
Edit: your right BD I made a blanket statement out of rage.LOL

Did my research and went to some stores and looked at the pictures and features. I definitely like the samsung tvs so far. I'm leaning towards the h6350. (I think I have the model right). Tonight will be the night I make a purchase.

I hope so. It has to be better than what I have now.

I own a plasma...I think there are some misconceptions here..

A plasma will not burn an image unless it is left on the same screen for something ridiculous like 6-8 hours...so I mean, the only possibility of anything getting burned into your tv is if you take the time to pause it and then not turn it off..

I do leave my tv on for a few hours too long sometime but once I turn another screen on I can't tell. My tv has a function to whip the burned image off in like 30 minutes but I've never had to use it in the 2 years hat I've owned it.

Plasmas are quite a bit better for playing games so that's why I have mine. The refresh is much faster than LED.

I don't know the price difference but if you aren't planning on playing games then I'd go LED unless they are a lot more expensive. If plasmas are cheaper then go with that, I am completely satisfied with mine

Cordarelle Patterson replaces Josh Gordon in the top 5 WR group.

Andre Williams proves himself to be the best RB in this class, by having the most productive rookie season of all the rbs.

I have both an plasma and an LED.  My plasma doesn't permanently burn but it will do some temporary burning if left on for 2-3 hours.  Say you play a game the HUD might be faintly visible for 5-10 min after.  Not a huge deal.  Had it 4 years and it works perfectly.

I don't have recommendations on brands, don't know enough, but both of mine are LG and are very thin, light, great picture, and inexpensive.

I would highly recommend purchasing at Costco if you can.  They have amazing deals and their warranty is second to none.  I had a roof leak destroy my plasma 2 months after buying it, i took it in and they didn't ask any questions just gave me a brand new one.  Costco is great for electronics if you can AMEX it or pay cash

I do not know much about electronics but from what Ive heard LED is superior to plasma. Is that incorrect?

Hell no!  Plasma is superior.  There are some cons, but I promise you Plasma is sooo much better.  The problem is that the best Plasma TV maker Panasonic is not making them anymore.  You should grab one of those before they are gone.  Samsung's are not in the same league.

My current TV is an 8 year old LG Plasma(looks as sharp as when I bought it)... And don't get it twisted, no bias here... Iv'e also owned a Samsung LCD, which lasted me ONLY 1 year and a half; verticle lines started form on the screen... Tossed it.

    I recommend LG Plasma's 7 days a week.
