Also you'll never hear those board members say, "we need to reduce our costs, so the board should take a pay cut so we won't have to layoff anyone."

guess we cant really cant say what we want in this country....we all have different beliefs....the bible says that judgment is coming...he believes that...he was expressing that

Yes... You can say what you want... You also have to deal with the consequences of your actions (or statements in this case)... You can't be employed by a major network and say (without expecting consequences):

"Asked what, in his mind, is sinful, Robertson replied: "Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men."

If he had said "Start with christian behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men" you don't think there would have been serious repercussions???

As a public figure you can't say things like that without public backlash & he should know better...

I believe John Stewart said it best: "I don't know why people think that somehow the First Amendment applies to network television. It doesn't. It's like the way free speech doesn't apply at your work. You can't just walk into your boss' office and say 'You're a F#$% face and I'm gunna go back to work now'... No... You're not."

    Just my $0.02...

How I long for the 80's, when you could make movies like Trading Places and Airplane! and it was all good fun and humor lol.

BD: "Kudos to Phil for standing up for his beliefs, not enough of that in this country amymore...why should someone comproimse there beliefs for another person or group."

Odd... I see the problem as not enough people being willing to compromise for the good of society as a whole...

Strong, uncompromising people like Don Black & Fred Phelps (two men who are unashamed of & unwilling to compromise their ideals for anyone) would most likely agree with your last statement...

Sorry about the soapbox but this intolerant "reality TV star" touched a nerve. BD Feel free to respond (either here or via PM). I won't mention this on the forums again...

No, no, no... In no way am I saying YOU agree with what those two idiots stand for, however I'm pretty sure both of THEM would agree with your "no compromise" stance...

I scored As in both classes Godfather, thank you for caring.  Heroin is a huge epidemic where I live so I am hoping to make a dent as a counselor.  Someone has to, Jesus.

Good job on making your studies a priority. Fantasy should always take a distance backseat to family and education. Best of luck to ya Gary, you're hard work should pay off.

Thank you Crap and I wish you only the best in return.  Merry Christmas (do they have that in Canadia?)  Joke.  I hope you got your girlfriend something a little nicer than a fishing pole.

Aren't passing judgement and guilt the founding principles of the Catholic religion though?

Christians can have fundamental disagreements on morality issues with others...perfectly natural....but the response to such disagreements should never be "im right....your wrong....and THIS is whats gonna happen to you.."....just never goes well....phil can voice his disagreement...when he said they will basically get whats coming in the end is where he messed up....im really glad the family has come out and basically said they cannot imagine the show continuing without him....A and E is in a tough spot....gonne be interesting how this plays out....

But it's not about A&E, it's about the advertisers.  If companies feel that it is not go to be beneficial to associate themselves with such an opinion, then they will pull their advertising dollars.  If the ad dollars go away, A&E will pull the plug on the show regardless.

It's not like these guys need the show, their business was doing very well prior to being on TV.  They could easily walk away.

They will walk away.   He expressed his religious views.  Done.
