But the point is, putting all resources into Feb-Sept. The product is only Feb-Sept. I think it will be fine. The point moving all 365 day content, and more, into a condensed space. Running something during FEB-SEPT defeats what I'm talking about. There is no reason we can't wait to discuss rookies until FEB.

And don't forget, Luke, we will be discussing the players on the forums in Nov.

Nah, forums will stay free, but the idea is t a wrong one, just not in the plans. Thanks for the idea, though.

I like the idea of more detailed out off-season content, with a greater rookie focus and increased IDP content. Smitty, when you say no content SEP-JAN, does that mean that you won't be doing anything during that time? Or does that just mean you won't be doing write ups? I don't see why it would be so hard to maintain Dynasty Rankings (including IDP) & Future Rookie Rankings (an added piece). I think that's all we would want during the season. We don't need weekly projections or start sit advice (as was already mentioned, there are plenty of other good free resources for that). Give us the rest out of season.

Yeah, as the poll states in selection one, the forums remain open year round and free, id only write and charge for a February-Sept product (with maybe free weekly line up rankings in season). Open for lunch and closed at dinner kinda thing. I know it would be nice to ramp up the offseason without touching the inseason, but I'd burn out and die in one year.

I think they should stay free as well. Speaking from personal experience, getting to know the community here (through the forums) is what got me to subscribe. If I had to pay for the forum, I never would have done it and I wouldn't be here now...funny to think about life like that

I think a weekly reaction to what happened is an important part of the in-season. Things can go amiss during the season much like this one, and I definitely enjoy reading advice on what moves to make during the season.

Thing is, though, what's better, more forum attention, as I'll likely be on a lot more. A lot more. Or, canned advice that doesn't touch on even 1/10 of your players, as everyone has different teams. Projections are so hit and miss. I hear ya, but when you see how ramped up the off-season product will be, you'll like it.

This isn't a 10-writer site, nor do I ever want it to be. So, that said, I can only crank out so much in one year without my head falling off. I can create more content in Feb-Sept than Jan-DEC. Based on the vote, and how I feel about it, It's a likely course for 2014. It will be positive.

IMHO - DC Nation is strongest during the off season and that correlates to the dynasty mentality of the end users. As a paying member I pay for the content during the off season and use it to plan my upcoming dynasty drafts and get a heads up on "potential" gems in the making. I rely on DC Nation as my #1 stop, not my one and only stop and then I make my decisions for all moves based on the info I've gathered. (and for what it's worth - the result is either my win or my bad call not the responsibility of this or any site) The forums are my think tank and by keeping them free we can always be assured that the collective mentality is available to help us get our hearts out of a head/gut call.

So sir Smitty - if you feel that the resource of you would be better served churning out content during the off season I would have to agree.

Keep the rankings/start-sit and projections during the season up to date and help users make game time decisions as well as having you available within the forums to bang questions off of is also a good idea.

You can't be all things to all people and unfortunately that is a principle that plays into any business venture. You make the call with your head and your heart and I'm sure a large percentage of us will stay the course with you and DC Nation. Also, just as DC Nation was formed from the lessons learned of prior sites to become what it is now you can use these lessons learned to launch DC Nation 2014 as the top Dynasty Fantasy Football site on the web.

Same here...would have never paid until I saw the volume of the forum activities.

Well, it's pretty much settled at this point. We will be up year round, the forums are 365/24/7, but our product is likely to be a FEB to Kickoff product. I don't know what this means as far as providing any in-season content at all, I can't make any promises that we will have anything, but I'll try to have some sort of weekly line-up rankings. But even if we don't, think about it, I'll be on the forums more, start bench advice, trade advice, all that is better when personalized, so I don't see how this isn't an overall improvement for the inseason. I plan to maybe add one more moderator so we have more people helping with these "inseason" questions, etc.

The off-season content is gonna be intense.

My breakdown of in-season DC usage

Projections - almost never look at them

Sit/start - I always read through this, though usually more for potential key pickups than for actual sit/start advice

Rest-of-season rankings for redraft/dynasty - definitely check these at least once a week, sometimes a lot more especially if working to make a trade (usually I bounce between DC and 4for4 to help me make valuations and decisions).

Calculators - I use these a bit, though usually just really more on the rankings as sometimes the calculators seem off.

Redraft VS Dynasty

Personally I've been more of a redraft guy mostly but just this year joined a couple of dynasty leagues. Unfortunately none of my offline buddies have any interest in dynasty.

I appreciate the redraft rankings here and would be sad to see the site go purely dynasty, but definitely the biggest value I see in DC is the scouting and upside board type of stuff (obviously this year was rough, but hopefully a big bounce back next year). To me losing the weekly article with general waiver info, sit/start etc might cause me to lose some interest in the site and not participate in the forums as much. Usually when I get the email notifying me of a new article I come over, read the article, and then hop in and check out the latest forum stuff.

I hear ya, and you won't be the only one to miss the inseason features, but I think our forums, and remember I'll be on here more, will do the trick during the in-season. Putting in more time and effort and resources into the off-season, for me, is the best way I can contribute. I'd rather shift attention, focus and resources to the place I know I can make the bigger impact. And, while this isn't the only reason, rest and a break does help keep me fresh and on the ball. Burn out can take effect, it can.

To the dynasty content that I found at the beginning of the summer , in season dynasty rankings and who to pick up / trade for are the only things that float my boat during the season as well as forums .
I'm about done with redraft after 15 years of it 6 dynasty teams now and plan to add 1-2 more yearly , I love having teams of diffrent
Stages and some on top some stuck in the muck and rebuilding ....

I believe the Preseason (rookie draft, free-agency) is where you collect information to make your decisions whether it be dynasty or redraft for the upcoming season. Its becoming a huge part of ff. Content collected by dynasty users will be available for redraft when their drafts come up in August & give advice on who to draft in upcoming season.

The site should include both dynasty & redraft as I think dynasty is great & for the diehard fantasy fans. Problem w dynasty is that not many of your local friends seem to be that involved & the leagues seem to die out & $ is never very big. ex: who wants to continue to pay when I win the league every year & have a stacked team?? thats a joke...

Redraft is where your local friends will be in leagues & you can get a advantage on them ( I dont think any of mine know about DC & Im not telling ). Plus redraft leagues seem to be where the $ is @ & extreme growth in popularity in the upcoming years. This is where DC will get a lot of its subscribers in July, August, Sept.

In season content should consist of player rankings by week match ups ( projections of yards & td's is pure speculation & worthless ), trade values by player by a number system, start sit advice forum called ASK SMITTY that Smitty can answer, trade advice SMITTY Section, keep forums for sure, players looking to breakout section.

Id pretty much keep it the same w a few kinks changed. Keeping redraft is where the $ is @ thou.

How is that not better? I think it is.

I think you can go crazy offseason, and minimal inseason. I don't think weekly lineups are necesarry, but I do think when you pay for an entire season, you should receive both the pre-season and post-season. The only reason I've ever wanted to pay for a ranking was if it were accurate, and detailed, and have always wanted them in June thru September.
