Not that I like chiming into topics like this often, as my job is to keep the DC Ship afloat :) But I will say this...

Like with fantasy football opinions, I think many things argued to great length in this country have arguments on both sides, and the only side I tend to think is "for sure" wrong is the side that acts as if there aren't arguments to be made for both sides. Whether it's this topic, or the topic of Global Warning being man-made or naturally driven (and I tend to side more with the former George Carlin, that the earth has been here for Billions of years and we are ignorant enough to think a tin can and some foil is going to destroy it? But there are arguments on both sides, at least...) lol...  everyone's opinions are either shaped, or influenced, by their surrounds. I respect everyone's opinion, hate no one, and do my best (poorly) not to judge others unless I've truly walked in their shoes, and on this topic I will never be able to walk in shoes that grant me the right to judge.

That said, I think it turns out a press conference was NOT called on this matter, and it was more of a player answering questions honestly because the info was going to break anyway... from what I hear, and not even sure how accurate it all is to be honest, the guy was just trying to get ahead of the situation, and why wouldn't you if money, your career, etc depended on it. It was his only move to make, if it is in fact true that the questions were getting asked and the info was about to leak.

On the topic of his situation being a distraction, sadly it will be, but mainly because the media will recognize that people are interested in talking about it and hearing about it. If you disagree, look at how long this thread is.  lol So the media is gonna make this a distraction, so not sure if that will influence his draft position. Poor Tebow fell victim to a news hungry media and culture that truly eliminated his chance (That he earned) to start after leaving Denver. Whether you believe in Tebow at all, that doesn't matter, after his playoff run, he deserved a shot, but the media machine ruined it for him. Not sure if that will happen here, but we shall see how distracting all of this becomes from the perspective of teams/owners.

Keep it Civil, like you all have been, and I am staying out of this in terms of taking sides on some of the other issues raised relating to this topic :)

I really dont think your sexuality is a choice. I didnt chose to be straight...I just am. I have always been attracted to women and never guys. At no point in my life did I say, hmmmm, I think I like girls and not guys. I suppose its the same for anyone. For all you saying its a choice you tell me when exactly you chose to be straight. And if straight people dont choose to be straight then when would gay people have to chose to be gay? Because they are different than you or I? No...

well....hard to compare this situation to the Jackie robinson situation....Jackie robinson wasn't viewed as a "sinner" awaiting judgement by what it still the majority religion in our country...im a Christian and im personally against it...sorry...its just the way my spiritual relationship is...non religious people will call me dumb and uneducated...but that's my personal religious belief...I believe in god...I believe in the bible....I believe in judgment....its crazy that todays world has compelled me to loosely apologize for fear of Christian hate...--not on this site of course but in general---do I have a problem with the gay community? absolutely not....if my 13 year old brought a gay classmate home with him would I care?...absolutely not...I have no time for hate...no place for it in our country in my mind....but....what i do have a problem with is the gay community SCREAMING at me, "I'm GAY...deal with it....IM gay....IM GAY....LOOK AT ME IM GAY....accept me...." they scream and then when i stand by my religious beliefs im outlawed....hey....you shoved your personal preference into my face....as an ex army vet i still stand by the Don't Ask Don't Tell policy.....why do you need to tell me daily your gay?...i don't tell you daily i love my wife

Im a Christian too and what I know about Christianity is that Jesus was a non conformist. He cavorted with prostitutes and tax collectors (bad for his day) and trashed the temple the time he went there as an adult. He didnt believe as his religious elders and leaders did at all. Jesus made up his own mind about things and didnt just spew nonsense from a book that was written 1500 years before he was born. I dont think gay people should advertise their sexuality either with stickers and tshirts either but I dont think thats what hes doing here. The NFL guys are fishing for info on him by asking him about past girlfriends. Hes getting out front and bringing awareness to something in our society that needs to be addressed because EVERYONE deserves equal treatment and freedom. As far as the locker room goes...Women reporters won the right to be in the locker rooms long ago and they fought for that right. If they are there with no problem this shouldnt be either.

Yeah... Regardless of what you think about homosexuality, I can't imagine not supporting my son in a situation like this. Just brutal...

@ BMX: your argument shouldn't be that sodomy isn't "natural" (it is, as it has been observed in numerous other species) but that this natural act is detrimental to a peaceful society. Just sayin'...

When you bring religion in to this I laugh at it because it has no place being here. Sam has done nothing but say he's gay, and I'm reading about sinners lol, probably 90% of the NFL is made up of what you call sinners. Look around as you got murders, rapist, drug users, guys that cheat on there wives! So what's the big deal ? And your extreme Christians are probably the worst with in your face with their bumper stickers and taken your money as they live in lies everyday, like that not in your face? Lol

Let's keep this realist please! And just a note no one should have to apologize for what they believe in!

Again if he can play football and contribute to a team this is a non issue!
My league is a non PPR 12 person league having a roster of 19 players each. Active roster includes 1Qb 2Rb's 3Wr's 1Te 1K 1Def. Two weeks before draft we cut the roster down to 9 keepers. My team as of now:
QB Russell Wilson, EJ Manuel, Josh Mckown
RB Lamar Miller, Shane Vereen, Zac Stacy, Cierre Wood
WR AJ Green, Julio Jones, Josh Gordon, Andre Johnson, Rueben Randle, Kenny Stills
TE Z Ertz, M. Bennett, Delanie Walker
    DEF Kansas City, Cleveland
    K Steven Hauschka

All I know is I am proud of this guy coming out especially given his race. You see a lot of hip hop videos and stereotypes for African Americans and he's just so well off them.

He's also going to be the most protected nfl player ever. Anytime someone makes fun of him or even makes a joke regarding him, people are going to think its a hate crime and that you are against gay people.

I said extreme christians! That is not stereotyping at all , just replying to what was said before!

Read carefully at what I said !

Again religion has no part in this as we are talking about a football player IMO!

When the church owns the NFL than it has a place until than it doesnt belong because this is a business!

ultimately religion does play a part in all of this as everyones beliefs is rooted in it if we go back far enough if  we like it or not everything we believe comes from what is taught to us for the most part as we grow up and that is generally handed down generation to generation with small variances along the way.. i think the main issues is that people dont care if your gay but the pressing us to accept it or like it is the problem and the constant drawing of attention so as to force this down one throats, or if we dont accept we will boycott your business or sue you..what gives the gay that right but not the rest of us?

that being said if some reason michaels isnt drafted or ever is cut it will be because he is gay!

The bible is the most changed and censored book in the history of man...and written by man a century or 2 after the so called authors died. And at the Council of Nicea Constantine decided that only 4 of many Gospels would be allowed in. They left out the Gospel of James...the brother of Jesus, lol. I especially love how just a few centuries ago the church was excommunicating people who said the sun and not the Earth was the center of the solar system. I am Christian...I try to live by asking myself what would Jesus do and not follow so literally a book that was written thousands of years ago. Jesus hung with prostitutes, told criminals on the crosses next to him they would be in heaven and forgave the people who tortured and murdered him right before his dealth...Im pretty sure he would have accepted homosexuals too if they were kind hearted people who accepted him as savior.

We are all entitled to our ways, beliefs and pursuits of happiness though...even gay people.

i believe Jesus were giving the "sinned" a 2nd chance but this isnt bible class and i also believe the bible states marriage is between a man and a women...so i am not so sure he would condone gay/lesbian culture,  also God destroyed Sodom/Gomorrah for this reason..

lets move on as this isnt the point..

I did a bunch of research on this subject last night.  Sam will get drafted by the Saints.  I'm fairly confident in this.

I also noticed on 99% of his sacks he went  head first.

I don't trust Adam Schefter and neither should you!!!
