The Ellington Hype.

GM Steve Keim reiterated that the Cardinals will use multiple backs going forward.In a bit of encouraging news, Keim said Andre Ellington will get more work. But in the same breath, he said the explosive second-year man won't be "featured." In other words, Stepfan Taylor is going to be in the mix for carries and perhaps free agent Rashard Mendenhall will be re-signed if the price is right. For now, we can't project anything more than 190-220 total touches for Ellington in 2014.

They could use a draft pick on a RB too. I would only be comfortable with him as my RB 3 in PPR.

I agree I love him in the three/flex.

Yeah i don't see the Ellington hype. I'd rather target a Joique Bell type at a lower price. Ellington has upside, just not sure what Arizona is going to do with it.

I saw this too and agree that having him as my rb3/flex makes me feel better than running him out as my 2...we also have to remember that coaches say a lot of things...wasn't it this time of year the Buffalo coaches were going to run Spiller until he pukes? Maybe they did and he slipped on it and hurt his ankle...

I guess you can treat it as a non-story if you wish, but this is basically an affirmation that we're going to see something quite similar to what we saw last year... Not really that far-fetched or anything a GM wouldn't have his finger on the pulse of in his organization...

Hey if u want to believe the GM gets to make the calls go right ahead..

The best player (I'm not saying it will or won't be AE) week get the touches.. A GM saying they will spilt carries in Feb is a complete non story to me.

If this was said in July or august I may care

Hype is insane

You always have to take these reports with a grain of salt, but very rarely should you completely disregard any reports as that is all the information we have. This happens on both sides. When people like a player they over-react to good reports and dismiss poor ones. Two examples: Spiller will get the ball until he throws up, people over-reacted positively. Lamar Miller will split carries with Daniel Thomas, people completely dismissed this. You have to factor in reports like this a little bit, but don't you shouldn't over-react one way or the other. Just my 2 cents.

I thought the same thing when I read this. Of course Ellington is gonna get more work and of course Arians won't feature him. This is a non-story to me. I don't care what the GM thinks.

I wouldn't even be happy with him as a 3...RB4 for me.

Not counting the outlier his adp is 6.10.. I'm not sure I call that too insane at all?

Well if this is any indicator of his current ADP. I'm an Ellington believer. (The few, the proud, the insane). I took him at 5.08 in the dynasty startup and I myself agree it was a reach, but I didn't want to take the chance he'd be gone by 6.05. I'd say 6.10 is pretty accurate for his current ADP.

Cardinals GM Steve Keim talked up second-year RB Stepfan Taylor at the Combine as a potential "complement" to Andre Ellington in 2014.

Keim says he has "high expectations" for Taylor, who underwhelmed as a rookie with a 3.19 YPC average and eight receptions behind Ellington and Rashard Mendenhall. As Mendenhall is now a free agent, Taylor could take his old spot as a short-yardage back and committee partner. If this is all Ellington has to hold off for 2014 backfield work, it'd be ideal news for his fantasy outlook.

I like the way they worded it much better..

I picked up Taylor as the handcuff in round 21:)

also it isnt always about the amount of touches but what they do with them see spiller and charles not 300 carry guys ..i be happy with 220 to 230 touches for him especially in the passing game

No one is saying to draft Ellington as anything but a flex, and he costs that or less.

Ellington = flex even if the GM is right. I'm not seeing the concern or how "home run" isn't still in play should he prove his GM wrong? He is a no risk play still and breakout land if he over performs. Anyone acquiring him at a much higher price (and yes 1.05+ is still acceptable to me) is overpaying outside off the normal hype.

Hype machine, march on!

last year at around this time I went on record as to predicting andre brown would outscore david Wilson....and was laughed

this year im going on record as saying ellington will be outscored by taylor or whatever free agent rb they get...book it
